Chapter 75 - Chosen

Rahua's POV

The knock on the door sounds persistent and quick as if someone was in a hurry to get in.

"Yes?" I call out, but no-one answered. The knock was more insistent. I never have maids around at times like this.

I stand up and walk over to the door. I open, quickly and I feel a breeze on my face, but noone was there.

Ahhhhh, I close the door quickly, I have seen enough horror movies to know this may not end well for me.

"C'mon Rahua's this is all just ... In your head." I think is all in my head.

"No my Lady is very real. " I hear a deep low voice from behind me. I freeze in fear, who the hell is this?

I can feel my heart pounding so fast I want to run outside but...

"No need to be afraid my Lady, I won't do you no harm."

I slowly turn to face the voice. With my back against the door, the face was covered with a cloak.

"Who are you?" I ask my voice trembling. "What do you want from me?"

"I am what you might call a collector of stories, a seeker of forgotten knowledge. And I believe you have stumbled upon something quite extraordinary."

Curiosity mingled with caution as I regarded the man before me. His presence was magnetic, his eyes glow in the dark of his cloak.

"What do you mean?" I ask confuse, my voice was barely above a whisper.

"Don't need to be afraid I wish you no harm."

"Is just unwise of you to enter my room without permission..."

"The Lady did open the door. " He said with is deep voice, but barely moving.

"That wasn't an invitation. I- I would like to ask you to leave." I say feeling my hand trembling against the door knob behind my back.

The cloaked man chuckles softly, his voice filled with an air of mystery. "I apologize for my intrusion, Lady Rahua. But I assure you, what I have to offer you is far greater than any inconvenience I may have caused."

I narrow my eyes at him, still wary of his presence. "And what might that be?"

He takes a step closer, his movements slow and deliberate. "Knowledge, my dear Lady. The kind of knowledge that has been buried and forgotten, waiting to be discovered by those brave enough to seek it."

I feel a flicker of curiosity fight against my fear, a craving for the unknown. "What kind of knowledge? What does this have to do with me?"

He smiles, a glimmer of excitement in his eyes. "You possess a unique ability, Lady Rahua, one that allows you to see beyond the veil of the ordinary. But it is incomplete, fragmented. I can help you unlock its full potential."

I take a deep breath, trying to steady myself. Part of me wants to open the door and run for my life, forget about this encounter, but the allure of the unknown is too strong.

Now that I think about it Mr Cirius had mentioned that I had magical habilities before but I just thought it had something to do with my transmigrassion.

"But how do you know about my supposed habilities?"

The man's smile widens, revealing a set of brilliant white teeth. "I have my ways of gathering information, my Lady. But time is of the essence. I must know if you are willing to persue my help..."

"What is it to you? You must gain something from helping me complete my fragmented habilities. I don't believe that you are sneaking in to the castle, to tell me about my fragmented hability for the goodness of your heart."

"You are as the rumours say... interesting, no fool." There's rumours about me?

"I won't make any promises, but I'm willing to listen," I finally say, my voice steady despite the lingering fear.

The cloaked man nods, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "That is all I ask, Lady Rahua. "

I don't trust him, nor should I trust someone I never met, however... I mentally sight. Curiosity did kill the cat. I couldn't deny the pull he had on me, the urge to uncover the truth behind the tapestries and the mysteries of the things that had been happening around me.

"Tell me more," I whispered, my voice barely audible.

"In this kingdom, Lady Rahua, history has been rewritten and twisted to serve the desires of those in power. The true story, the one hidden within those tapestries, tells of a story that changed the fate of the entire realm. And I believe you hold the key to unlock a new fate.

My mind raced with a mixture of excitement and fear. Could it be possible that I, a mere peasant, someone who had no connection to the original story held the power to alter the course of history? It seemed like a dream, too fantastical to be true.

"But why me?" I asked, my voice trembling, with the curiosity that kept me from ignoring all the red flags of the situation.

The man in the cloak leaned closer, his eyes shining with unwavering determination. "Because, my dear Lady Rahua, you are not just anyone. You possess a gift, a connection to something greater. You were chosen."

Chosen? The word echoed in my mind, sending shivers down my spine. Suddenly, all the pieces began to fall into place. The vision in the bathwater, the tapestries that seemed to beckon me, the feeling of something stirring within me. Even the transmigrassion . It all made sense now.

Wait a minute!!

Maybe he is just baiting me, I can't trust him blindly. I might as well take the bait and see what is his end goal, he never answered my question instead he just gave me a back-hand compliment.

I crossed my arms, remaining skeptical. "And what do you need from me?"

He sighed, his expression softening. "No, Lady Rahua. I merely offer you the opportunity to explore your true potential, to uncover the secrets that lie within your fragmented abilities. If you choose to join me, we can work together to bring about a shift in this kingdom, to unveil the truth that has been hidden away."

The allure of knowing what happened in the past, the possibilitiy of having abilities and unraveling the mysteries that surrounded me was undeniably tempting. But I couldn't ignore the nagging sense of caution that screamed at the back of my mind. I needed more assurances, more clarity before I made any decisions.

"I appreciate your offer, but I need time to think. I need answers to my questions, and I need to be certain that you can be trusted."

The man nodded, his eyes filled with what seemed understanding. "Of course, Lady Rahua. Take all the time you need. But remember, the opportunity before you is rare. If you ever wish to delve into the depths of forgotten knowledge and unlock your true potential, just summon me." He handed me a a dark stone. It was blacker than black.

With those words, the man turned and walked in the direction of the window, disappearing into the shadows. I walk to where he just was, my mind swirling with possibilities and uncertainties. I don't see anyone outside the window.

As I paced back and forth, contemplating my next move, I couldn't shake off the feeling that my life was about to change forever, once again.
