Floor 7 and Floor 6

I entered the floor 7 and saw a single tree in the middle. I have a hunch about how this is going to go. Considering I was forced to use fire magic in the previous floor, I wonder if I would be force another element and it would become the trend of this assembly of the forbidden.

I walked towards the tree and I was yanked into a wall. It has to be the tree. I sat up and noticed sweat drops forming on my forehead. This room is slowly heating up. Am I being forced to use ice and water magic? I launched myself into the air and flew towards the tree in the center of the room but a bunch of vines formed a net to try to catch me but I was slowly getting used to flying so I could dodge the vines rather easily. The room kept heating up more and more to a point where I slowly started losing my breath.

I could no longer keep myself up in the air anymore and landed on floor. I have now lost roughly most of my attack bonus I get from using mirror of honesty. I have to be quick with how I deal with this tree.

I doubt I can set it on fire because it would be too obvious. I have an idea... Maybe I need to use water and ice magic to cool the entire room. Maybe the tree is not the main enemy but it is the room's temperature. I used water lotus but it did next to nothing. I activated my shield to give myself some time to charge an attack.

I'm stupid... I can't make it rain. I have to find the source of the heat too and all logic points to the tree. I can't see anything else in the room. I took out records of azure and charged a water ball and shot it at the tree and it screeched in pain... or something like that... does it feel pain? But anyways, it became even more hostile and it decided to become serious about eliminating me as I was showered by vine whips. My shield was able to absorb damage from three before breaking. I flew out of the area towards other side of the room while vines followed me and managed to grab onto my leg and yanked me again into a wall and I fell onto the floor.

I have to somehow deal with it but I can't think of a way to deal with this tree. I stood up and flew up in the air and started mindlessly shooting water balls at the tree but after only a few attacks, the tree screeched again before becoming paralyzed. It stopped attacking me and became inactive. I quickly flew up with all my passives active and started mindlessly attacking it again with water ball. I activated a new ability: Taunt of downpour.

Attack: N/A

Passive: Applies wet status every second.

It doesn't attack...?

I understand what it is meant to do. I used the taunt and it created a ball of water that kept radiating water every second. I used wind magic to create even larger tornedo of water. The water magic seemed to be doing significantly more damage than my wind magic by itself. But once the tree had lost more of its HP, it became rigid again and tried attacking me but I decided to finalize thing by activating fire and ice passives of mirror of honesty and used water lotus twice and finalize the battle in my favor. I landed and a chest appeared in front of me again.

This enemy was rather easy compared to previous one. I wonder why... Maybe it will become easier with each floor?

I checked the chest and I got another three stars that gave me more abilities.

Star of honesty, Star no.2: Three passives can be used at once than usual two.

Star of tempest, Star no.2: Can come back from death but the passive only activates once 72 hours.

Star of Downpour, Star no.1: Taunt will appear randomly when chased by bloodthirsty enemies which will attract their attention every time.

I wonder what these stars are... Seems like it is taking my existing abilities and making them better by removing limitations or adding something new to already existing abilities.

I must check my status window actually. I opened the window and it was different looking.

Attributes:

HP: 8,394

Attack: 1,340

Defense: 607

Magic Mastery: 0

Stamina: 215

Stars:

Star of honesty: 2/4

Star of tempest: 2/4

Star of downpour: 1/4

Star of Scorching sun: 0/4

Star of thunder: 0/4

Star of frostbite: 0/4

* Once activated, they can't be deactivated.

Interesting... Initially, all my abilities were shown in a chunk but now they're all organized like this. I think these stars are new levelling up method but why me? Or maybe this is because of my level...?

I've reached level 45 so by the time I'm done with this location I'll be maxed out on my levels.

I'm yet to figure out the meaning of this building and how it is linked to the other side or whether I'm stuck in a location that is not connected to the other side at all.

I rested a bit before moving on. I have like 6 more floors to go through.

On entering the 6th floor, I saw a man sitting by a bed with someone underneath the blankets. I approached them and asked them if everything was okay and why they were in such a building.

"W-Who are you?!" The guy picked up nearby wooden stick and aimed at me.

"Woah! I'm not here to hurt you. Put that thing down." He is a human so I would prefer not hurting him even accidentally.

He tossed the stick at me but I quickly grabbed it... Ouch!

I got a splinter. I activated the shield and tried pulling it out slowly and carefully and looked up once I had it out but now I was no longer in the same room... I was in a bedroom. I quickly scanned my surrounding and everything seemed 'too normal' for what I had experienced in last two rooms in the assembly.

Is it some sort of illusion? There could be a monster like that but I couldn't really sense anything and that man looked human enough and even had a proper status screen showing his lineage. He is from kingdom of Inbharan. A name I had never heard before. By all accounts, he was a human and the one under the sheets too was a human.

I checked the status of the other person too and it stated the person's elemental energy was trying to burst out of their body. I can't think of a way to deal with that.

"That guy... Can you tell me what happened? I might be able to help." I have healing magic which should be enough.

"Heal...?" He asked and I showed him my status which clearly mentioned healing magic. "PLEASE! Help him!" The guy cried and fell onto my foot. "I'll do ANYTHING! ANYTHING! Just cure him. His elemental energy is overflowing but there are no healers anymore... They- They all were killed!"

I'm still doubtful whether the scene playing is real or not.

"He was just fine but then they attacked! They did something. I don't know what but they did something! And everyone with magic started falling sick! They killed everyone! MONSTERS!"

He is clearly distressed so asking questions might not be a wise option. I walked up to the bed and took the sheets off him to see a kid on his deathbed. He might be beyond saving. He had his entire body burned... Even for someone with no knowledge in medicine, these were clearly 3rd degree burns or even more. I could see slight bits of his bones through the burned flesh. This is healable but the biggest problem was his elemental overflow. The sheets underneath him were covered in blood stains and stains of other kinds I would avoid mentioning.

"Can you tell me the course of his disease?" I asked hoping for a coherent answer.

The guy, I'd assume his dad, stood up and nodded. He wiped his tears and composed himself.

"At first, some blisters appeared and those blisters were made from fire element and soon they spontaneously burst into flames..." He started tearing up again. I must've made him remember his trauma. "And then... he grew weaker and weaker... each passing day before becoming bedridden. He hasn't eaten since... He can't chew nor swallow... He-" His cries got louder and louder to the point where he couldn't even breathe properly.

Seeing a man in such helpless position wringed my heart too. I can't see someone this hopeless... But... these symptoms... Didn't Ace mention them too? But according to him, this disease still isn't curable. Ascendants have the strongest people amongst their ranks... they should've been able to find cure, right?

I used heal on the kid and it did heal his outwardly wounds but I can't do much about his overflow. Maybe he can do it if he has even strength, right? I used high heal to restore his stamina as well but hunger isn't exactly healable. Maybe liquid can help.

"You- go get some fruits. Make it quick." Fruits should be easy on his stomach and sugar can at least help him. Since he has been starving, we can't introduce proper meals to his digestive system. The man quickly left the room and came back with some apples.

This should do. I used earth magic to create a stone and crushed the apples enough to make sure the kid doesn't need to swallow. His stamina is restored so I hope he can at least ingest this.

"Feed this to him and let him restore his strength gradually." I said while still wondering the entire situation. I do remember entering the sixth floor. This IS sixth floor but then why am I in a normal house? This could be an elaborate illusion that I can't break out of.

While the guy was busy feeding his kid, I left the room and walked out to see no one else in the house. Maybe they live alone, I left house and what I saw can only be described as a scene from horror movie that left me speechless.

I had been editing some past chapters so this took a while. Anyways, hope you enjoy as I plan to keep making this darker and darker while taking inspiration from real life incidents.
