13: The Opening Ceremony

The next day came along quickly and early in the mourning Alexander heard a few ding's in his head.

'My Divine Focus, Ice Domain and Wind Domain have all gone up a level.'

" Now that my ice domain has evolved maybe it can be incorporated with my True Absolute Zero Spell. I'll make sure to look into that later. Now, I've got to get ready for the opening ceremony... after all; I am ranked first in S class."

Alexander changed into a S class Nexus Academy uniform which was a pitch black three piece suit with a golden trim and a breast pocket with an academy insignia. The pants were the same color as the trim and the shirt was a classic white collared shirt.

He decided that he would go to the auditorium since he had nothing else to do.

While he was walking he saw a couple merchants and saw one that was selling magic gear. He looked through a couple of the products and saw some things he liked when a saleswoman approached him.

"New here?"

"Yeah, I enrolled for the new school year."

"Wait really? You look so much older then the required enrollment age. Anyway, see anything you like? If you do then I could put it on hold for you."

"Huh? I can't just buy it?"

" You can't. You see, the academy runs on it's own system. The money you got back on the human continent is of no use here. You have to build up your wealth in the academy by using your tokens you get monthly, participate in tournaments, and do quests. The amount of tokens earned monthly is decided by your class and the tournaments and quests decide how many tokens you get by performance. For example someone in third place in a tournament may get a hundred tokens while a person who places first may get five hundred tokens." The lady said explaining to me the system of the school.

"Okay, that's interesting. But I've got to get going now or else I'll be late. Bye!" Alexander ran out of the shop forgetting to reserve anything he liked.

He ran till he reached the auditorium which was still receiving many people of different races. He looked around and saw many dwarves, elves, beastmen, demons, and human. He also saw some who were angels, fairies, dryads, merfolk, and vampires among the crowd as well. These five races are a little different they are lesser races and they are called that because the number of them is significantly less than the main five races.

When everyone entered the opening ceremony started and the headmaster said " Welcome to the Nexus Academy opening cermony. For all those who are attending, I recommend you listen to this because this will give you an idea of how the academy works.

This academy has five classes F class, C class, B class, A class, and S class. These classes show the level of the student and their capabilities through rankings. For example the first ranked student in class B is most likely to have a higher combat ability then the twentieth ranked student in class B.

This academy also uses our own 'tokens' as money instead of your usual currency. You can get tokens by doing quests and tournaments. You will also get a certain amount of tokens per month that is decided by your rank and class. You cannot flaunt your nobility in school. You also cannot discriminate against other races. There are two hundred fifty people in F class, two hundred people in C class, one hundred fifty in B class, one hundred in A class, and fifty in S class. You can advance classes by moving up to the top three in the rankings of your respective classes. To advance to S class you have to reach rank one in A class. Any questions?"
