Lynn was really trying to process what he has just read. Did his grandfather just used the m-word in his letter? There were a lot of crazy things going on, but what he had just read, tops them all.
"Lynn, we must get going, maybe more enemies will come," Li Mu Qing interrupted a completely blank-minded Lynn.
Lynn did not answer, he just stood there completely paralyzed. He had way too much to process in such a short time. He was not even sure he could survive the zombie apocalypse. He was starting to think that it was better to just die right where he was.
"Lynn, we need to move!" Li Mu Qing shouted while grabbing him by the left arm and dragging him upstairs. Just as they reached the living room; Lynn saw a portrait of him with his parents and grandfather. It had been taken one summer when they were visiting the family cabin that was up in the mountains. Those visits to the cabin were the best memories Lynn had of his parents and grandfather.
This made Lynn wake up from his panic. He remembered that when he was little and each time that he faced something difficult, his parents would tell him to keep living and keep fighting. That had been their motto.
"General Li, I think I know a place that is safe, but I need to pack some things first. Can you keep guard at the entrance, so no zombies come?" Lynn asked as he headed upstairs.
General Li nodded.
Lynn quickly went and grabbed a camping backpack. In there, he put spare clothes and knickers. He also dropped his phone and charger. He then went to the bathroom and threw his first aid kit inside the backpack. He also threw his laptop in, in hope that the signal would come back again.
He does remember that his parents kept the cabin well packed even if they just went there twice a year. But since their passing a year ago, no one has gone there. The food must still be there though, but Lynn preferred to be sure, so he grabbed an empty suitcase, that he was going to use to put all the food he could find in his kitchen.
"I'm almost ready, General Li."
Lynn went quickly to the kitchen and threw inside the suitcase all non-perishable food he could find. Good thing that he had a distaste for cooking, so much of his food was canned food. When nothing else, fit inside, Lynn closed the suitcase. He then grabbed his keys and told Li Mu Qing to follow him to the garage, where the car was located.
Li Mu Qing followed him silently, always vigilant as if zombies could jump out of any door or window. This was a fact that Lynn was grateful for. If it were not for Li Mu Qing being here, Lynn would have pissed his pants a long time ago or become zombie food. More likely the latter.
Lynn did a quick checklist on what did he saw that people needed the most on a zombie apocalypse. Clearly, he had no idea. In zombie movies, people were normally too busy running away from zombies. Also, because it would be boring, it is never shown how do people really sleep or go to relieve their needs.
"Well, let's hope what I've gathered with me is enough," Lynn thought as he opened the door that led to the garage. He then looked for the switch to turn on the lights.
As the light shone, Lynn's car was full on display. It was a black SUV left by his parents. Lynn quickly opened the car's trunk and put it inside his suitcase and backpack. He then grabbed a hammer that was left in the corner of the garage.
"Better well equipped than regretting later about it," Lynn thought.
He then went to the driver's seat. At that moment, he realized that Li Mu Qing had not moved from the garage door.
"General Li, what are you waiting for? Let's go!" Lynn shouted.
Li Mu Qing looked pale. This was the first time Lynn had seen Li Mu Qing nervous.
"There's no way he fears the car, could he?" Lynn thought, trying to guess what was impeding the powerful general from moving.
Lynn then went back out and got closer to the general.
"General Li, you haven't seen a car before?" Lynn asked.
"Well, what a stupid question that was. It's obvious he hasn't seen a car, maybe he hasn't even seen a cannon before!" Lynn came to this realization.
Lynn then realized that he was so busy panicking and being scared that he was in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, that he did not realize that Li Mu Qing was in the same situation as him, and even worse. Not only had Li Mu Qing been thrown into a world thousands of years more advanced than his, but also he had been thrown in the middle of a zombie fight. Lynn finally sympathized with the poor general.
"Sorry, General Li. I forgot that in your time, all of this is new," Lynn apologized to Li Mu Qing that in this short time had been nothing but friendly to him.
"What you see in front of you is a car. It's like the horses or carriage from your time," Lynn explained pointing to the car.
Lynn could see that Li Mu Qing finally started relaxing a bit. Color filling his face again.
"Um… Lynn, is this CAR safe?" Li Mu Qing asked still skeptical about riding such strange transportation.
Lynn then thought about how he could explain to Li Mu Qing that the car itself was safe. The problem was going to be the zombies or people in case they were trying to break into the car.
"Okay… um… the car itself is safe. It will be a problem though if zombies or people try to enter the vehicle though. Think of it as a carriage. Everything is fine with it, but if suddenly you were ambushed by assassins, then the persons who were carrying the carriage could be killed and the person inside it would fall to the floor with the carriage," Lynn explained. That was the best analogy he could come with at that time.
Li Mu Qing then nodded.
"So, can we go? The faster we get out of crowded places, the better."
Li Mu Qing nodded again. This time following Lynn to the driver's seat.
"No, General Li, you should open the door at the other side. This side is for the driver," Lynn explained.
"Oh…" Li Mu Qing said amused that this was how modern people rode.
When the two of them were inside the car, Lynn made sure that the cabin's keys were still inside the car and turned on the car to input in the GPS the route to the cabin. Lynn just hoped that the rode was going to be clear enough for them to go by car. When the GPS finally calculated the route, Lynn locked the doors. He did not bother to tell Li Mu Qing to fasten his seatbelt. They were in the middle of surviving an apocalypse. There was no need of following driving safety right now.
"Okay… Well, let's get going," Lynn said scared of facing what was out there waiting for him.
So .. in the OG version, I noticed that it was unreal that the streets were empty, and Lynn drove swiftly to the countryside... So, right now Im stucked trying to see how to solve this plot hole. U_U Wish me luck.
