Skyward Threat
The dense tangle of ferns and cycads gave way to a more open area where the sky, a brilliant blue canvas, became visible. Pockets of sunlight danced on the ground, reflecting off the dewdrops still lingering on the leaves. However, an inconsistent pattern of darkness began to form, shifting and morphing. A cold shiver ran down Johan's spine.
'What's causing those shadows?' he wondered, his mind racing to decipher the irregular patterns above.
Suddenly, Ken shouted, "Look up!"
Johan did, and what he saw left him momentarily breathless. Soaring majestically, yet ominously, were creatures of legends — pterosaurs, their wingspans casting colossal shadows below.
Without warning, a particularly massive one folded its wings, transforming from a graceful flier into a lethal projectile. Its jaws opened, revealing a maze of sharp teeth as it dived straight towards them.
