Why Marrying me?

One of the figure suddenly ran and hugged White. The figure glared angrily at Ren. Because of the distance being close, Ren can finally see the other parties faces.

"White* (name said in chinese)! Are you alright?" The one holding White said with a rough voice. She is a gorgeous young woman with a beauty that's not less than those of celebrities.

"I'm not alright mom. You suddenly left this daughter of yours again, without protection in this cursed rains." White pouted.

Right at this time, the other figure arrived before them and said. "We're very sorry White*, something happened with work earlier." This one is a handsome young man also with a beauty not less than those of celebrities

"You're both always busy with work even though it's our outing, dad?"White pouted even more.

"Sorry, we'll make it up to you the next time. Okay?" The one she called mom comforted her.

'So that's her parents? They both look so young and good-looking, they even have some attendants at the back. Are they celebrities or something? Wait... If White is already seventeen, then they should be older than they look right?' Ren thought. 'It should be inside their genes then'

Ren stood up and greeted the both of them politely. "Nice to meet you. Uncle, auntie." He picked up the two bags and opened his umbrella. "I'll be going then."

"Wait, why are you leaving?" White asked Ren. White's parents turned their heads and looked at him.

"Yeah, where do you think you're going?" White's dad said to him in a cold voice. White heard the tone of his dad's voice and spoke. "It's not what you think dad. This great me is doing some transaction with this generous young man."

"Oh? What kind of transaction?" White's mom was interested in this 'transaction.'

"Well, just forget about it. It just some food, no big deal." Ren turned her down. But at this time White answered. "It is a big deal! Do you even know how much this stomach of mine has suffered?"

Her mom finally realized and said apologetically in a soft voice. "We're very sorry White*."

Her mom thanked Ren and bowed. "Thank you for accompanying my daughter this late at night."

"It's nothing really, I was just passing by. I will be taking my leave now." Ren said once again.

"No, stay for a bit." White's dad tried to stop him from leaving. "I need to properly thank you for taking care of my daughter."

"I'm seventeen already, I can take care of myself." White pouted. Ren finally gave in to them and stayed "Well, okay then. But I need to quickly go back, my friends must be worried about me after the shaking after all."

"Okay, so is there anything you want in particular." White's mom asked. "Eh? No... anything is alright." Ren replied.

"No need to be too polite Ren." Her mom said. White then followed "Yeah Ren, just state your desire to this one."

Ren pondered for a while and then said. "Nothing's really coming to my mind. Anything you'll give me will be fine." Right at this moment, one of the 'attendants' that followed behind White's parents suddenly took out a phone and handed it to her dad.

Her dad looked at the 'attendant' with serious expression and took the phone from his hand. Her dad looked at the phone and answered the call, leaving the others behind. After the phone call, he headed back towards Ren and the others. Ren saw the serious expression of White's dad.

'Something serious must have happened...' Just as he was thinking, White's dad suddenly opened his mouth and said. "Do you have any girlfriend Ren?" Ren answered. "No." 'Why did he suddenly asked if I had a girlfriend?' Ren was dumbfounded.

Her dad continued. "Then... Can you marry White?"

"... Uhm... I'm sorry but I think I heard it wrong because of the rain. Can you please repeat what you said just now?" Ren didn't dare to believe what he heard just now, so he asked with a serious expression on his face.

"What I said is that, can you... No, will you please marry our daughter?" White's dad said once again. This time, not just Ren but everyone present was dumbfounded. White's mom was also dumbfounded as she asked with a very serious expression on her face. "Dear, did something happened?"

"Yeah dad, why would you marry away this beautiful daughter of yours?!" White roared with tears forming at the corner of her eyes. White's dad pulled her mom away from them and had some talk.

White's dad and mom talked in a whisper so that they can't be heard by Ren and White. "Something very important happened." White's dad said with a very serious tone. Her mom asked also in a very serious tone. "What happened?"

Dad's voice became even more grave as he answered. "Our enemies are gathering their troops outside of the country, preparing for an all-out war on us." He paused for a second and continued. "I don't want White to be caught up in it."

They both fell silent. But right at this time, White called out to her dad and said. "Dad! Why didn't you answer me?!"

Mom answered her in his place. "I'm sorry, White*." She forced a smile and continued. "It's just that something really important happened back in our hometown in China. Me and your father are going back and we'll be staying there for quite a while."

"But why are you marrying me off, then. Are you going to leave me here?" White asked with tears rushing down her face. Her mom said. "You can't come with us. Because, your grandfather arranged a marriage for you when you were still a child. If others were to find out that you came back, they will definitely come finding you and you'll get married there."

White's face became pale. She knew that the reason they ran to the neighboring country, was because the family of her future husband was pressuring her own family. If she came back with them, she'll just be a burden to her whole family and get married to someone she doesn't even like.

But if she stayed her and already got married, the pressure coming from the other party will lessen and they can't do anything if they can't find her. And if she were to choose, it would be better if she were married to someone she knows. White understood this much.

Ren, who was listening to their conversation asked. "But why did it suddenly go to me marrying White, then?" He looked so compose outside, but his insides was already in a mess.

White's dad answered him. "It's because we feel it's safe if someone took good care of our daughter, specially when that someone has a good character such as you." Ren was still confused. "Yeah... But why marrying me? Can't I just take care of her without getting married?"

Her mom suddenly answered him. "That's not good, Ren. Having you as her husband makes us feel more secured." She came close to Ren and whispered to his ears. "We don't know if we'll make it back alive this time."

Ren looked at her in shock. '...don't know if we'll make it back alive this time.' This sentence was reverberating in his ears. He finally understood what's going on. 'It seems like they want me to take White because they don't want her to get caught up in this problem of theirs.'
