Trying the girl at the hotel

"What just happened? I am handsome... So handsome. Why are girls not giving me face? Am I disgusting?" Jaffery Lutta hollered. Disappointment and dejection could be seen plastered on his face. The pedestrians who were passing by casted weird glances at him and simply shook their heads, no one bothered.

"I think I should eat something. The food in that police custody was not that welcoming." Jaffery Lutta said to himself after he saw a roadside hotel ahead of him.

Presently, Jaffery Lutta only had a hundred shillings, he didn't knew what food he should eat which could satiate him in that roadside hotel.

Fortunately, the police station was not in the CBD as it was in an area around middle income earners. So, the hotel in front of him was quite affordable to a person like him, especially when he saw that the people who were going in and out of the hotel were not wearing brand clothes, their clothes were merely the local ones.

"I will spend my hundred shillings in this hotel." Jaffery Lutta's eyes lit up with resolve.

Jaffery Lutta hastily walked towards the hotel and upon entering, he saw a not so beautiful girl who was seated at the corner enjoying her lunch.

"I think the girl at the corner has made that place rather welcoming, I have to sit there." Jaffery Lutta walked towards the table that the girl was seated and sat beside her.

"Hi!" Jaffery Lutta waved at her before he took the menu and started reading it.

"The food here is slightly expensive as compared to the hotels in the shanties. If I knew it was like this, then I would have just walked home first." Jaffery Lutta complained.

"What are you going to eat?" The waiter came and asked Jaffery Lutta with an indifferent expression. She didn't have that good impression of him by simply scanning him, he knew directly that he had either came out from the shanties or the prison which was not so far away.

"Rice and beans." Jaffery Lutta uttered out his order before he laughed lightly in an awkward manner while staring at the food that the girl in front of him was eating.

Actually, rice and beans was the only food that was affordable to Jaffery Lutta which he came across it on the menu. There were also other types of food that were around a hundred shillings but they would not satiate him as compared to rice and beans.

In addition, the cost of better dishes was so tremendous in that Jaffery Lutta didn't dare to look at them fearing that he might order for them by accident.

Nonetheless, the girl in front of him was eating the very same costy food which made Jaffery Lutta ashamed, he was even regretting for coming to sit beside her.

"Hi!" Jaffery Lutta waved at her once again while glancing from side to side. His fingers were tapping on the table restlessly. At last, the waiter came back with a plate of food that Jaffery Lutta ordered for and placed it on the table.

"Ooh handsome boy, you don't seem to come from around here, right?" The girl in front of Lazy Wafula asked suddenly, a smile was plastered all over her face.

"What?" Jaffery Lutta who was holding a spoon, awoken from his reverie when he heard the sing-song voice of the girl. Her voice was good to hear and it carried with it a feeling of serenity and protection. It was like a voice of his mother which made Jaffery Lutta to gaze at the girl in front of him without batting an eyelid, the girl had scored five star rating from him just from her voice alone. Jaffery Lutta wanted nothing but to continue hearing her voice.

'But wait! She called me handsome, right? I didn't knew there was someone out there who has discovered how handsome I am. This is incredible." Jaffery Lutta's eyes lit up with a new light and he sat comfortably in his chair while taking a relaxed pose so that the girl in front of him can have a good view of him. The words that the girl had said after calling Jaffery Lutta handsome didn't matter to him, what mattered is that the girl had called him handsome, she was actually the very first person to call him handsome, how do you expect him to be collected and not to be happy?

"You definitely have good eyes. Why don't you give me your phone number, please." Jaffery Lutta decided that he would be direct this time round. He ate a spoonful of rice and stared at the girl, now, he found her more cute than Recho Wairimu who was not gentle at all, the vibrance around her was surely a charming sight that Jaffery Lutta didn't have a choice but to compliment it.

"Well." The girl took Jaffery Lutta's phone and put her phone number on it before she returned it back to him. She was all smiles as if Jaffery Lutta was not a stranger but her friend that she had met for countless times now.

"Alice my love. You only ordered food for yourself but what about mine?" An eighteen years old boy walked towards where Jaffery Lutta and the girl were seated and said this to the girl before he sat beside her. The boy wrapped his hand around her waist while gazing at her, not even giving Jaffery Lutta some face.

The girl smiled before saying, "The food would have turned cold if left for some time. You are always late you know. Anyway, now that you are here, I can now order for you your favourite dish."

Jaffery Lutta who had now taken his phone back from the girl simply stared at the two teenagers hugging each other, feeding each other and they would even kiss from time to time. Jaffery Lutta could not help but groan in displeasure. He was starting to like this girl in front of him but a stranger just had to come in at this time?

Unwillingly, Jaffery Lutta ate his food ravenously and paid the bill before getting out of the hotel. He didn't want to remain seated there because he feared that he would be utterly overwhelmed by jealous.

"I am alone in this world, nobody wants to see my face or be friends with me, why?"
