Her feet were scratched up and she could hear their voices. She knew she had to run faster but she had no strength left. She decided to hide. There was nothing but trees around her, towering up so high that she couldn't even see the sky. She heard twigs snapping behind her. She turned with her heart in her mouth, only to see two small eyes staring back at her. The rabbit hopped away and disappeared behind a tree. She followed it with her curiosity getting the best of her and discovered a better hideout that she could've ever imagined. The tree was hollow on the side, it's natural doorway hidden by bushes and leaves. She crawled up in there as the rabbit rushed out to get away from her. She took a deep breath and waited. The voices were getting louder. She closed her eyes trying to control her heartbeat. Banging like a drum she feared it would give her away. They were close now. She could see their feet passing in front of her. The last thing she saw was a triumphant face as it screamed 'She's here!' The sharp pain left her breathless. The warm red liquid was trying to escape her body along with her final thoughts. 'I didn't succeed. I failed him.'
'I failed him'.
