Chapter 16

Odetta 

   'Moving on, the council sent a message telling me to hand over my daughter. But I couldn't just hand over the only child I had with my late queen whom I loved. At that time I didn't know Lucia was behind her death and also behind the council finding out. I told your father what happened. Then we agreed they will leave the kingdom together, while I pretend I know nothing about it. It was hard watching my daughter go but I trusted your father Alex to keep her safe. I was sad for hathor and disappointed at myself for I can not keep her safe from the council. The council came and questioned me but I denied knowing about her where about. They believed me. For 8 years I didn't see my daughter or you. I never know what you looked like. But every year your mother send a letter that tells me that they are alive and doing well. I was happy knowing she was happy and safe. But Lucia found the letters. She showed Ryder who she was still having an affair with as I refused to have any intercourse with her way before Melissa died. Ryder showed the council who commanded him to take guards and find hathor. They managed to track hathor down. It was in my dream that hathor appeared and told me what happened. And that I will still find you. 

  I was sad. First my wife now my daughter, I was so lost and disappointed that I couldn't keep her safe. Then news travelled about the tribrid all the while I still didn't know Lucia was behind everything. I went to the little hut. I saw your father body separated from his head and your mother' he paused. Tears was rolling down his eyes.

'Your mother was naked covered in blood. The ground was slit into two, which made me know she was welding her powers but she must have not been able to weld them fully before she was attacked because she was raped. It pained me knowing my daughter died in such a disgraceful manner.I got my men to pick her and your father's body. I gave them a proper burial. It was after some time that I found out Lucia was behind it. She was celebrating with her lover Ryder. I overheard them. I got so angry I froze Ryder immediately. Lucia was screaming hysterically telling me to unfreeze him but I threatened to kill him unless she confessed. And she did. She got a witch to curse Melissa. Ryder was also her mate. I was too saddened to kill her so I froze her too, keeping them in the dungeon. I decided they will be like that until I see you,' he said, looking sad. I felt something warm on my face, I touch my cheek and I realize that I was crying. This man here has gone through a lot and knowing how my mother died is so painful. I thought she killed them men and killed herself in the process. I placed my hand on his shoulders.

'Don't worry grandfather we will avenge mother and father together' I said looking at him. He laughed

'You called me grandfather' he replied. I was shocked I did call him grandfather. Guess when he was telling his story I subconsciously felt his pain and could relate to it. After all he lost his child and son in law and I lost my father and mother. 

'I guess I did, didn't I?' I smiled. It feels good to have a family member to share your emotions with.

'Yes you did. Now tell me what you know about those council' he said with a look in his eyes. I sit back in my seat.

'Well I know that the council are planning on fishing me out, they have one of father spell book which has a location spell inside. They need some things for the spell but it is going to be hard to find. I found out that councilman Aaron is working for someone in hiding who wants me as his bride. I don't know who this person his, I only know that he has red eyes. I also know that he is going to be a big problem for me because he seem powerful and councilman Aaron was bowing when speaking to him. The man also said something about him owing him something, it is really confusing' i said. I was feeling tasty so I summoned a cup of tea. Grandfather looked at me mesmerized.

'What?' I asked sipping my tea.

'Nothing your father used to do that' he said with a smile. I smile back, I don't remember father doing that.

'So this guy can't be possibly powerful than you right?, I mean you are a tribrid' he said.

'I don't know grandfather but he has this darkness surrounding him, and he seem powerful. I don't know how to go about him or how to fish him out, I think I should just stay on the low for now' I said.

'But you know you can not stay on the low forever right?' He asked.

'I know grandfather' I replied. 

'And also you can't tell anyone about me. If people discover me they will know that I am the tribrid' I continued.

'Don't worry about that Odet nobody will know about you' he said.

'What of Ryder and Lucia?' I asked

'They are in the dungeon frozen' he said.

'I will like to see them' I told him.

'Okay let us go' he said. We stood up and I turn invisible.

'Nice trick' he said.

'Grandfather it is not a trick, don't call my powers a trick' I replied back. He laughed.

'Okay okay I won't' he said still snickering.

'She is truly her mother's daughter' he mumbled.

'I heard that' I said.

'Of course you did, for a second I forgot your father is a werewolf' he said. Then I laughed with him.

  We stopped laughing and I follow him. We passed through lot's of hallways with plenty guards stationed in every hallway. The guards all bow as he passed. The kingdom is really beautiful. We came out of a door and enter another side of the castle, this side is more quiet and has lesser guards. They are few doors each leading to different places. We enter a door but the door has a stair case leading us underground. This place is dark and very quiet, it has no guards. Grandfather closed the door.

'This is the underground dungeon is for people who has committed grave offenses, nobody is allowed here' he said. There was also a hallway here. I looked into the prisons I saw some skeletons.

'Why am i seeing skeletons, we are immortals' I said.

'This prison is enchanted any body that stays here for more than a day, their power is gradually sucked out from them. And you know a supernatural without it's power is basically an human. So they die but it's gradually and we don't feed them. We just keep them here to die' he said.

'What of Lucia and Ryder?' I asked.

'Yes them, they are frozen but are very aware of what is happening in their surrounding. I put them in the worst prison. Every 5 years they experience or see their worst nightmare that repeats over and over for a year. They are aware of their surrounding, but they can't hear or see anybody. In this prison they don't see anybody they are in isolation. That is the greatest punishment I can offer them. Death is too easy' he said. Wow I can't imagine reliving my worst nightmare and staying in isolation. We got to a door.

'We are here' he said.
