Mingya returns to her room and throws herself onto the bed. As she fiddles with the key, she mutters to herself,
"What is this key for?"
As she turned the key over in her hand, she wondered what it could possibly be for. She tried to remember if there was any mention of an extraordinary key in the novel, but couldn't recall anything specific.
She couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something important about it, something she couldn't quite remember.
Just then, she noticed something odd on her vanity table.
"Huh? That wasn't there before," she muttered to herself.
She gets up and walks towards it, examining it closely.
"It's the blank book I saw in the study," she said to herself, surprised by the discovery.
Mingya's heart was pounding as she stared at the blank book in front of her. She wondered if the key had any significance to it.
"HISS-!"
Suddenly the key started getting hot, and hissing in pain, she dropped it on the blank book. To her surprise, the cover of the book seemed to melt like liquid, and the key made a distinct clicking noise as it disappeared into the cover.
Mingya's eyes widened in shock, and her heart raced as she realized that something significant had just happened. She gingerly touched the cover, half-expecting it to be hot to the touch, but it was surprisingly cool.
"What was that?" she muttered to herself, trying to process what had just happened.
"What is this book?" she whispered.
As she slowly opened it up, a memory from her past came flooding back. It was a distant memory of an unknown man reading to her from a book just like this one. She couldn't remember who the man was or what the book was about, but she remembered how it felt to be in his arms, listening to his soothing voice.
Mingya felt a pang of confusion and sadness as she realized that this memory must belong to Charlotte.
"This memory, it must be Charlotte's," she said to herself.
"But who is this man? Henry, perhaps?" She couldn't be sure, but the memory felt so vivid and real.
Mingya shook her head, trying to shake off the memory.
Suddenly, she felt like a thunder crashed in her head, waves of memories washing down over her. She tried to hold onto something to steady herself, but it was too late. She passed out, collapsing onto the floor.
Before she lost consciousness, there was only one thing she saw. It was a message in a translucent screen floating in front of her which said
[System Initiated. Synchronizing Time...].
__ __ __
When she came to, she was lying on the bed, feeling disoriented and confused. She sat up slowly, rubbing her head as she tried to shake off the feeling of dizziness.
"What happened to me?" she muttered to herself, still trying to process the memories that had flooded her mind.
As she sat there, trying to make sense of it all, she heard a knock on the door. She got up and went to answer it, still feeling a bit unsteady on her feet.
"Miss Charlotte, are you alright?" It was one of the maids, looking concerned.
"I'm fine, thank you," Mingya replied, forcing a smile. "I just had a little fainting spell, that's all."
The maid nodded sympathetically. "Would you like me to bring you some water?"
"Yes, please."
After the maid left the room, Mingya was left alone with her thoughts. She couldn't help but wonder about the translucent screen she saw before she passed out.
"System? When did the novel change genre?"
The fact that the novel seemed to have taken on a new genre didn't surprise her too much, as she had already experienced transmigration. These little things didn't seem to shock her as much as they used to.
So she decided to try and call out to the system in her head.
"System? Can you hear me?" she thought.
[Ding!]
Suddenly, a translucent screen opened up in front of her with a notification sound. It showed her status, much like an RPG game window.
