Eight:

I couldn't believe my ears.

When she finished telling the story,

I held her in my arms,

gently,

but unwilling to let go

as she dried the tears that happened to fall.

"I promise, one day,"

I said.

"I will teach you what true love is."

She calmed down,

letting me gently embrace her.
