"So, what are you doing for Christmas, Nathan?" Sierra asked.
"Going to Jake's parents' the way I always do. We do a nativity play each time and I'm sure I'll be conned into being a wise man or something. Though nothing could beat the year I was forced to be a sheep," Nathan remembered with a shudder.
Amber was the shepherd that year and she really, really wanted him to be her sheep. He couldn't say no to her pleading six-year-old face.
He ended up on all fours with a white towel draped over his back wearing a pair of cat ears because it was the only animal ear headband available in the costume box. It was absolutely humiliating but she was so happy about it that he couldn't be too upset. After the play was over, she insisted on riding on his back as if he was a horse. No amount of explanation that sheep weren't meant to be ridden could dissuade her so he ended up giving her a horsey-back-ride dressed as a sheep to her great delight and his great chagrin.
