Chapter 17 - Bond

Scarlett lowered her daggers and opened her eyes to look at the imposing violet dragon after hearing it speak.

'The dragon could speak!! Wait that's not important. The Dragon knows my mother? How?'

She never thought that when her emotions were going out of control and the feeling of death over took her, the dragon would ask about her mother.

It was really out of her expectations.

Her emotions calmed down and the pulsating darkness core seemed to calm down too, retracting all the darkness that was about to escape her body.

She exhaled a breathe before steadying her voice and spoke,

"Yes. My mother was Lucia Erylwith. My name is Scarlett. Scarlett Erylwith."

Once she finished speaking the dragons eyes noticeably brightening.

In a shaky voice she spoke again,

"Y..you know my mother?"

What greeted her wasn't a response but an uncomfortable silence.

Her nerves were so tense by the atmosphere that all she wanted to do was leave ASAP!

The only problem was, SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHERE SHE WAS.

After a couple minutes, which felt like hours to Scarlett, the dragon spoke again,

"Lucia…..yes….she was my bond."

'Bond? What the heck is a bond? I mean if we're talking based off how the name sounds then...was it like those contracts I read about in my past life?'

"Wait…..what is a bond?",she really couldn't hold her curiosity and ask a stupid question with improper timing.

The dragon surprisingly answered seeming much kinder that her first impression.

The dragon supposedly didn't feel like standing anymore as it started to lay down and said,

"Well, little one, a bond is something much stronger than all of the contracts beast tamers spread out. It's basically like, you find your other half but in beast form. When you form a bond pact with the beast you feel is right, you will be able to use some characteristics of your bond and some of its abilities", it paused for a bit and the temperature around it dropped,

"Usually when you form a bond pact, if the beast or human dies in anyway, it wasn't like you'd die too, but a pirate of your soul would die as your other half would be dead."

A wave of sadness rushed over Scarlett though she tries not to bother with it. The dragon said it was Lucia's bond so when her mother died....

How awful that must have felt to have your bond die?

Not really sure what to do with the emotions building up Scarlett momentarily forgot her fear and walked towards the dragon and put her hand on it's snout. She wanted to reach and pat it's head but her size was to tiny even if the dragon was lying down.

When she came back to her self she almost couldn't believe that she just touched the dragon .

'I t…touched a dragon?!'

Just as stars were about to literally shoot out of her eyes what happened next really dampened the mood.

She could have sworn that the dragon in front of her sighed once she completed her action, then before she could react, it opened its terrifyingly large mouth and used its share teeth to lightly pierce into her outstretched palm.

To fast for her to react, a drop of violet and golden blood floated out of the violet dragons mouth and a black drop of blood also floated out of her now pierced palm. When the two drops of blood collided and mixed together, an array of some sorts filled with ancient runes appeared below her and the dragons feet.

'Hold up a second why is my blood black? I don't think it was that color before?', unfortunately there wasn't time for her questions to be answered.

Scarlett wasn't sure how, but in the next second the mixed drop of blood separated into two again. One violet with black hue colored blood drop flew into her galbella, which then dispersed into her conscious and a tiny dragon then appeared in her consciousness.

She didn't notice that a dragon tattoo appeared on her collarbone before disappearing a second later.

Scarlett didn't know if she had ever been more confused in her life and before she could say anything the dragon spoke again.

Almost with an unwilling voice,

"We have just formed an equals contract. Your mothers last wish to me was to protect you. Now I have completed it and will follow by your side, or whatever."
