HxH: another kind of Zoldyck

Synopsis: A fan of manga and anime was extremely unlucky in his life and ended up dying by suicide. Fortunately, Death itself came to repair the injustice he had suffered and reincarnated him in another world with a wish limited to that specific world. Author's Note: I do not own HxH, and the cover of this story is not mine. The protagonist will not be a psychopathic madman who kills indiscriminately, but a rational and sometimes selfish individual in his decisions.

Chapter 03: Milluki and Training with Zeno Zoldyck

POV of Kira.

After parting ways with my mother Kikyo, I headed towards my third favorite brother in this life.

"Hey Milluki, what's up?" I said, nonchalantly entering his room.

"Stop barging in here like you own the place and close that door! I could lose my online game," Milluki yelled at me before hastily resuming his game.

Milluki was one of my favorite brothers in this life for several reasons, despite his shitty attitude.

But the most important reason of all was undoubtedly that Milluki is the easiest to handle in this family of assassins.

"So, tell me, why are you here?" he said, eating chips without taking his eyes off the screens or stopping his game-related movements.

"I want you to teach me how to create gadgets like you do, but I also need your help to find someone," I simply explained.

"What, you want to create gadgets?"

Milluki stopped all his activities and turned towards me as if I were an alien.

"Yes, and I find that technology is a very good weapon, and assassins should live with the times," I continued without paying too much attention to Milluki's facial expression.

"Kira, I know we have common interests and get along well, but do you understand the gravity of what you're asking me?" he said, frowning.

"You don't want to help me find this person?" I said, surprised.

"No, I'm talking about teaching you my technological skills," he declared, crossing his arms as if considering an important question.

"If you want to be paid, I can do it with a video game idea that I'm sure you'll enjoy playing," I said to convince him.

My words seemed to have caught his attention.

"What kind of game idea could convince me to teach you some of my technological know-how?" he said in a clearly dubious tone.

I started telling him about a game that was appreciated by many players in my past life, called "God of War."

Since the pantheons of Earth are unknown in the HxH universe, I had to explain the Greek pantheon to Milluki, but after that, I could see the excitement growing in him.

"Kira, we're going to create these games together, and in exchange, I'll teach you computer science, but not technology globally," he said, putting his finger on his chin before nodding as if he had made a decision.

"I'll teach you, but I'm not a good teacher. For me, technology is second nature," he said, scratching his head, embarrassed.

It seemed that his technological knowledge was somehow linked to his Hatsu, and he didn't want to lay everything out in front of me.

"No problem, if I understand everything about computer science, that will be enough," I said, shrugging.

"So, shall we play a round?" I said, settling down next to Milluki.

"And what about the person you want me to find for you?" Milluki asked, slightly confused by my actions.

"Forget about it, I'll take care of it myself later," I replied, starting the game.

...

After finalizing the last formalities of the agreement between Milluki and me, I spent a few hours demolishing him in his favorite fighting game.

"I'm sure it's the controllers that are damaged. I suggest we have another round on your next visit," Milluki declared, clearly in a bad mood.

"Really a sore loser," I thought, preparing to leave his room.

"If you want, but anyway, I could beat you at any video game with one hand while picking my nose with the other," I teased him as I left the room in a good mood.

It was only in his room that I had a semblance of my shut-in otaku life, but outside, I became an assassin again.

I ended up returning to my room. Apart from studying medicine and training, I really had no personal activities other than hanging out with Killua and Milluki.

"I'm starting to understand why Killua wanted to become friends with Canary," I muttered, picking up a book on medicine that I hadn't finished yet.

If I want to be able to use the power "The Visionary" to its full potential, I need a strong body but also to be very well-informed.

Currently, I couldn't use "The Visionary" for unknown reasons, but I assumed it was because I haven't unlocked my Nen yet.

The being I consider "Death" spoke to me about restrictions that "The Visionary" would have because of worldly laws, so I must be patient.

Once I have this power, I'll have more leeway in this vast universe.

I eventually fell asleep, my head filled with wacky ideas for my future power.

...

The next morning, I left to meet my grandfather Zeno to continue my usual training under him.

Currently, I had been training more with Killua for a good while now.

"I'm sure they've kept me away from Killua to start the special training for the future family head who will succeed Silva. If that's really the case, it's good news for me," I thought, smiling, "but I mustn't count my chickens before they hatch."

I wanted not to be the family head, but I've always wondered why the Zoldyck family isn't larger than that?

Doesn't Grandfather Zeno have any brothers? And his father, Maha Zoldyck? Doesn't he have any brothers either?

I began to suspect that the future family head must prove his superior strength in his generation within the Zoldyck family.

If I'm right, then becoming the head isn't simply being selected, but also a matter of survival.

As I pondered all these things, I eventually reached an isolated training ground in the forest. I could see an old man waiting in the middle of it.

"Good morning, Grandfather," I said, smiling.

"Good morning, Kira, I hope you're not tired today," he said calmly.

I immediately understood what he was alluding to, but yesterday I wanted to relax a bit, although I also meditated to try and unlock my Nen.

"Sorry for not having the courage to tell you directly, Grandfather, hehe," I said, slightly embarrassed.

"It's not a problem, but I want you to be more sincere next time, and I'm sure your mother has punished you enough," Zeno declared, patting me on the shoulder.

It seemed that Kikyo had said she would punish me herself to get me out of trouble.

I was really lucky to have such a mother, it's a pity that Killua doesn't have the maturity to understand the benefits of an obsessive mother on his side in a family of assassins.

"Now, can we begin?" Zeno abruptly declared, looking me in the eyes.

His attitude and the atmosphere around him had completely changed. Where before emanated the warmth of a grandfather, now I sensed from him a pure killing intent.

"I'll really never get used to this," I said, shaking my head with a slight smile before slowly walking towards him with the aim of surprising him with the Soru.

I had already begun implementing certain martial arts from other worlds here. Gremmy's power is potent, but I don't want to have a weak foundation for using it.

Sometimes, I asked Grandfather for help in implementing my techniques here. After all, I wasn't a martial arts genius, and the experience of a monster like Zeno was currently available for free.

So, that's how I was able to start using techniques like the Soru and some of the Rokushiki partially.

"Every time I see this technique, I can't help but be surprised by its simplicity and effectiveness. Too bad, you're still too weak to execute it properly," he said, splitting into multiple afterimages.

"Rhythm Echo," I muttered, stopping the Soru halfway towards Zeno.

I had lost track of him in an instant.

"I've already told you to come at me like you're going to kill me, haven't I?" a voice said behind me before I was struck in the back, propelling me towards some trees that I broke.

"That was surely your Tenkkai?" Zeno declared, looking at his fist and me.

Indeed, if I want to be able to use the Rokushiki properly despite my current lack of physical strength, I must use that.

"Grandfather, have I ever told you about the Asuras?" I said, manipulating my breathing and heartbeat to reproduce a technique known from the manga Kengan Ashura.

"Oh, you've created a new technique recently, but I can tell it's not suitable for your young body," Zeno declared, stroking his beard, but he suddenly raised his hand to block claws aimed at his throat.

Author's Note: Yes, Kira does not hide these martial art techniques from Zeno, as he knows he can’t properly create them alone. He also knows he is being monitored by Silva.

So he prefers to gain the favor of Zeno and his mother rather than Silva.

The reason is that unlike Silva who hides his true thoughts, Zeno and Kikyo are very honest with Killua.
