Chapter 98 - The Feelings of Snape.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

Snape hadn't slept since he left Lily, unaware of her thoughts, as he returned to the Room of Requirement, starting to use his cauldron while picking the nightshades to create his hair growth potions. After all, the professor had sought him out once again for some people who were asking for them.

"Master... you're back, do you need anything, something Dobby can help with?" Snape's house-elf appeared at that moment.

"I don't need anything, Dobby, but you can take care of my animals," Snape said without even looking at the elf as he continued to begin extracting the properties of the flower.

"Very well, Master!" Snape heard his house-elf before he disappeared.

"..." Snape continued as his cauldron began to heat up. He wasn't very comfortable sleeping before finishing these tasks.

When he was almost done, he felt something and looked to the side as his cauldron began to move from side to side without warning. In the next moment, it simply exploded, with boiling water flying everywhere. With a swift motion, Snape drew his wand and prevented the water from falling on him and his main ingredient.

"It seems this cauldron is too old..." he murmured, looking at the old cauldron that had accompanied him for years, now in pieces. "Anyway, it was time to replace it..." he thought.

"Dobby." Snape called. The house-elf appeared with a basket of feed, feeding the animals, looking at Snape, awaiting orders.

"Can you clean this up for me?" Snape pointed to the place full of bubbling water, except for his side, and before Dobby could respond, he continued. "Besides, I need a cauldron. Can you bring some from the storage?" he asked.

"Of course, I'll be back right away!" Dobby said and disappeared, returning with three old cauldrons in the next moment.

"Tsk... none of these will do. Do you only have these or similar ones?" he asked, seeing that none of the cauldrons could be used to make the potions he wanted.

"No, Master... there are none... so Dobby is ready for punishment!" Dobby exclaimed with a trembling, fearful look.

'This guy acts like a writer...' Snape murmured internally, seeing how Dobby seemed to find any reason for Snape to try to punish him.

"Forget that. Go back to cleaning and continue taking care of the animals. I'll be leaving," Snape said in the end and grabbed his ingredients, placing them in his bag with his wand before disappearing.

He went straight to the common hall, where he entered to eat something. After all, fighting all night had made him quite hungry, so he headed for the Slytherin table.

Then, a movement occurred beside him as someone climbed onto the table while everyone was surprised by this, and Snape saw Potter approaching him, almost spewing venom from his mouth as he looked at him. Snape raised an eyebrow with a neutral expression at the boy who stared at him.

Many people from the nearby tables looked on, surprised by this, while Potter seemed eager to fight with Snape, the person who had become untouchable since the beginning of the year.

"Snape... what did you do to Lily?!" Potter simply exploded, his voice being heard throughout the common hall.

"Did I do something? Do you really want to talk to me about what you tried to do yesterday?" Snape commented. After all, Potter had tried to throw an ink balloon at him, and he had even let it slide because it was easy to dodge, but he had also done the same to Lily when she was about to be hit yesterday.

"Don't change the subject, Snape!! You're going to tell me what you did to Lily. She should never be with someone like you!" He continued shouting while the entire hall now paid attention to this.

"Potter, raise your voice at me one more time, and I'll make you regret it, understood?" Snape said with a tone of clear threat.

But James Potter, consumed by jealousy and anger, no longer cared about anything. "I'm going to report you for enchanting our friend. I swear you'll pay for this!!" Potter shouted, but the moment he finished, he couldn't even react as a hand grabbed him by the neck, catching him by surprise, as he was easily lifted by Snape.

"I'm starting to get irritated by mosquitoes like you, buzzing in my ear, extremely annoying, but also easy to swat..." Snape said as Potter struggled in front of everyone.

The other Marauders also jumped onto the table, running to their friend, getting close to Snape and Potter, with the latter barely able to do anything as his skin began to show that he was losing air. All three of the other Marauders pointed their wands at Snape.

"Let him go now, Snape!!" Black exclaimed angrily.

"I think it's time to deal with you in a way that will affect you for the rest of your lives," Snape said in a dark tone, feeling increasingly irritated by these guys constantly trying to bother him.

The atmosphere in the hall grew tense, and the students watched, expecting something bad to happen. While some seemed excited by the situation, others were scared, even though they weren't involved.

At that moment, the space distorted as a large figure appeared among them—it was the headmaster himself, coming to control the situation.

"Calm down!! Lower your wands immediately," he said in a dangerous tone to the three Marauders and then looked at Snape. "Let him go, Mr. Snape," he commanded.

"Tsk." Snape clicked his tongue, realizing there was nothing to gain from continuing, especially now that they were surrounded by professors and ministry officials.

They had been discussing the night's events when they heard the commotion and came to intervene. While everyone was prepared to handle a group of teenagers, Snape simply threw Potter to the ground, and McGonagall rushed over to check if he was alright, though she made no comment about Snape.

"Can I return to my table?" Snape asked the headmaster directly, who looked at him for a few seconds before nodding.

"..." Snape just walked away, leaving them behind.

"That boy... he's quite bold..." one of the Aurors muttered, watching how Snape carried himself as if he were superior to them, treating them like air.

"Forget it, he's a Slytherin... they're all like that, raised in big houses, thinking everyone else is beneath them..." a woman from the ministry murmured, recalling her time at Hogwarts and the discrimination she suffered for coming from a Muggle family.

"He's not from a prominent family," a third man spoke up, the same one who had followed Snape as soon as he detected his appearance in the castle near the Forbidden Forest.

"You know him?" his colleague asked, curious why this Auror was so interested in a student.

"No, but I've investigated him... he has no support, but he's the most feared student in the school. Even the purebloods from noble families can't compete with him. He's ahead of all the students in dueling class, even the seventh years," he said, recalling how he had reviewed Snape's file and his activities, though most of it remained unknown. After all, Snape was quietly seen wandering the school's corridors.

His friend whistled at this. "So, these guys were fighting over a girl's heart, from what I understand... but I'm still surprised that you've been keeping an eye on a student."

"That's because this boy is my prime suspect..." the Auror said in conclusion, staring at Snape's back as he sat down at his table, while the headmaster and the other professors dealt with the Gryffindor students.

Snape sat next to his old acquaintance, Geronimo, who had been uncomfortable around Snape since the beginning of the year. Snape ate in silence, recovering all his energy from yesterday, unconcerned with the other students staring and whispering about him and the commotion. He was fortunate not to run into any of the four girls he had danced with yesterday, besides Lily. Otherwise, he would have had to hear some things about his disappearance.

After finishing, he left the hall, noticing that he was being followed by an animal—a cat. He knew it was an animagus in disguise, but he continued walking until he turned into one of the corridors, with the cat still following him. When the feline crossed to look at him, following the request of its colleague to see where Snape was headed, it found the corridor empty. Snape had already given the cat the slip, leaving the confused animal behind, still trying to locate him.

Moaning Myrtle was having a quiet day, at least by her usual standards, crying in one of the bathroom's corners when she heard a distortion in the air, accompanied by footsteps.

"He's here..." She knew immediately who it was, as there was only one person who ever entered this place.

Snape approached the sinks while the ghost's head phased through the door to see him. It was a scene she had grown accustomed to: Severus began punching the area until it shattered.

He had cast a sound-blocking spell to avoid drawing attention from anyone in the nearby corridors and looked satisfied as he watched the debris fall in front of him, revealing the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.

He advanced, leaving Myrtle to observe, watching as the place began restoring itself again. Snape had already used a restoration spell on the entrance to prevent suspicion from anyone following him. He doubted Myrtle would say anything.

The next to realize his presence was the portrait of Salazar himself, who was calmly in his space, sipping tea and smoking a small pipe painted with him, while he gazed at his empty room. His eyes then shifted to the entrance as cracks began to form. When explosions echoed along the walls, the structure easily crumbled as Snape entered.

"Well, you finally decided to show up," Salazar raised an eyebrow, noticing something about him. "Boy, you have an aura of death around you. I hope you haven't been out there committing a massacre," he said, his eagle eyes fixed on Snape.

"I had to fight a thousand giant spiders, so you could say yes," Snape shrugged as he moved through the room.

"You're funny, huh? I guess so, since you don't want to talk about it," Salazar muttered in the end, while Snape couldn't be bothered to prove the point, advancing toward the shelves holding Salazar's belongings.

"Hmm, this cauldron might be old, but it's better than the others they offered me. Certainly, the design is quite outdated, and it seems mediocre in size for what I'm going to do..." He commented, analyzing the relic.

"Hey, could you stop talking about my cauldron, you disrespectful brat?" the portrait shouted furiously, but Snape didn't reply, still focused on examining Salazar's cauldron.

"...However, these magical runes seem quite useful, so I'll use it. I hope you don't mind," Snape said, turning to the portrait, and proceeded to take all the ingredients out of his bag. Since he couldn't take the cauldron out of the Chamber, he would brew all his potions right there. That was why he had sealed the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets—he planned to stay there until Monday.

Salazar just watched as the boy began brewing more and more potions, admitting to himself that Snape really knew what he was doing. "I just won't admit it out loud..." he muttered quietly.

However, he was curious about something else. "What kind of potion is that?" he asked, clearly not recognizing the ingredients.

"It's something useless to most, but a way to make a lot of money, and fast..." That was Snape's reply, to Salazar's look of disapproval, as the portrait had no choice but to watch him brew potions for the next several hours.

"Let's begin..." This would be the last batch Snape would prepare, as the following week marked the start of the year's final exams.
