Chapter 72 - Gringotes.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

"You can prance around all you want now. You won't be bothering anyone by staying in this place," Snape said as he watched Atlas lie down on the lawn, scratching all over.

Snape shifted his gaze from the Graphorn to the black owl, Shadow, flying around excitedly, having a large space and no longer needing to share a room with Atlas, which it mostly occupied.

It was Sunday when he decided to arrange some things in the precise room beyond the animals. After all, he had organized a room just for his potions; it would be his new workplace, and he even decided to leave the Slytherin common room to sleep here.

Snape would only need a teleportation to come here, much more spacious and private than his own territory, so he was not at all displeased with this but rather excited about having such a place.

"I'll leave you to it, have fun," Snape said as he left the area, heading to the common room. He ended up doing his exercises there as well.

Today was Sunday, and the common room wasn't very crowded yet, as many students were returning to school after being allowed a week off to go home to their parents.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Bellatrix asked her sister, who was glaring at her angrily.

"You know why, you're trying to steal my boyfriend," Andromeda declared quickly, while Bellatrix looked at her with a strange expression.

"Do you really think I would have something with a pure-blood, watch your words, Andromeda, and you..." She turned her attention to the other Slytherin students who were listening to the Black sisters' conversation and quickly looked away to avoid attracting the fury of that woman. "If I hear any more gossip... I'll kill you!" she declared as everyone returned to their meals.

Snape entered the common room at this moment, heading towards his house's table and was quickly noticed. "Snape!" Andromeda exclaimed with an initial smile, but it soon shifted to a more serious tone as she saw Snape sit down.

"..." Snape looked at her while nodding to the brown-haired woman but didn't glance at the black-haired girl, who seemed bothered by it.

"Tell me, Snape!" Andromeda spoke again. "Are you sleeping with my sister?!" She asked bluntly.

The next moment, everyone at the table choked on this question, looking stunned, even Bellatrix nearly spit out her drink in shock.

Even Snape looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "What kind of question is that?" He asked.

"I heard about the rumors, and Narcissa told me she spent the whole night in your room!" She exclaimed, and while only the Black sisters knew this, Andromeda ended up passing this information to the rest of the table, leaving all the students, from fifth to seventh years, gaping.

"Andromeda... I'm going to kill you," Bellatrix lunged at her sister furiously.

"Let go of my hair! You're sleeping with my future boyfriend! You traitor!" Andromeda exclaimed as she jumped on Bellatrix's hair.

A commotion began at that moment, attracting the attention of everyone at the table and the other houses, watching in astonishment as the two sisters fought. It only ended when Professor McGonagall appeared and cast a petrifying spell.

"What kind of behavior is this?! This is not at all appropriate for some Ladies...." she immediately spoke in a displeased tone, looking at the two while all the students remained silent, even Snape was trying to process what had just happened between the two.

"Will someone tell me the reason for this commotion?" Minerva asked immediately, but no one dared speak, especially with Bellatrix involved.

"Tsk. Tell the two that I want them in my office for an explanation," she said in the end, leaving the two girls frozen, clutching each other's hair, and returned to the teachers' table to speak with Slughorn, after all, he was responsible for that house.

Snape sighed and ended up using magic to reverse the spell before leaving the place, with the two women coming out of their dazed state seeing Snape leave the doors of the common room.

He ended up spending the rest of the morning in the precise room making potions, wanting to have a good stock to earn more money. In the afternoon, he went to Professor Slughorn to give four more vials of hair growth potions, as he was already selling nearly all of the 50 he had made and would soon run out if it continued like this for a few more weeks.

'I will have to return to the Forest of Death soon, and I will make that woman pay for what she did last time...' Snape thought as he vanished from the spot and appeared in front of Professor Slughorn.

After handing over another stock for Slughorn to give to his students, the professor looked at Snape curiously, after all, they hadn't spoken this week while there were no classes and the teachers were giving interviews and visiting some Muggle parents receiving news of their deceased child while the school provided some support for the tragedy.

"Mr. Snape... the headmaster mentioned you were in Hogsmeade, he also mentioned that you were alright, I hope that's true, after all, it left most of the students there, traumatized..." He spoke with some concern.

"I'm fine, I managed to protect myself, and that mysterious wizard eliminated all the witches," Snape said while Slughorn nodded.

"That's good... I know the ministry and the school treated the wizard as a villain, but it was thanks to him that more students didn't die," he said.

"Yes..." Snape nodded, seeing that someone had common sense.

"May I ask a sincere question, Mr. Snape... I've noticed an improvement in the purity of your potions and how you leave every weekend..." he began, suggesting, and Snape understood where he was going.

"If you're asking if I am that mysterious alchemist selling potions on the black market... You're right," he spoke calmly, not caring about hiding something like that.

"..." Slughorn, despite his suspicions being Snape... he was still surprised by this.

"If you're asking why... I don't want my identity to be public, you know why after all, I've been passing my hair growth potions since you won't pass my identity," Snape announced.

"I can understand... but I'm surprised, really surprised by this information, but don't worry, I'll keep silent about it and your information will be safe with me," Slughorn said with some pride.

Slughorn was one of the people who received a letter from the Ministry of Magic to know the identity of the mysterious potion master like many other potion masters; it wasn't a very important matter for the ministry, after all, they were at war against Voldemort and his minions. But Slughorn would never delete his favorite student; he just suspected after all, many things linked Snape with the talented and mysterious name.

"Thank you, professor, you are one of the few people I can trust with this," Snape admitted before leaving. "Now I'm going, I want to go to Diagon Alley to open an account at Gringotts," he said, beginning to leave.

"Interesting, Mr. Snape. Then take this," he called him before the boy left, while Snape looked at a card taken from Slughorn's bag.

"Sunday is a very requested day at the bank, so this will give you the VIP treatment that potion masters possess," he said as Snape thanked him for the VIP card.

He went straight to the fireplaces while some students were returning to Hogwarts through there, with everything paid for by the school, after all, such travel was more expensive than traveling by train.

Snape walked through Diagon Alley until he reached the Gringotts bank, where he entered and saw that Professor Slughorn had some reason with the amount of people there, waiting to be served.

Snape had never had an account in this bank due to his very poor condition to need an account, with just a few dozen Gringotts that he owned, but now it was different. The current Snape, who had changed over 8 or 9 months ago, had so much money that he could say he was richer than many of the wizarding families in England.

He noticed something when he entered, while all the sick, even those attending some wizard at the counter, looked at him as soon as Snape entered, finding it strange especially the cautious look of all the sick appearing cautious with him, even making some wizards in the queue notice this while turning their faces finding this behavior strange for that unknown boy.

Snape tried to ignore the stares and approached a guard while pulling out a golden card, showing it to the guard. "I have this, what do I need to do to bypass the queue?" Snape asked as the goblin guard looked at him a bit surprised, yet cautious, took the card, and moved toward a door without saying a word.

The goblin at the counter just watched for a while before returning to serve the person in front of him, still keeping an eye on Snape to see what would happen next.

A moment later, another goblin entered the area, dressed in a suit, looking at Snape beside the security who had taken the card inside.

"May I know your name...?" the man spoke with a rough but cautious tone, while Snape did not understand why the goblins reacted to him in such a way, unlike any other wizard in this place.

"Severus Snape," Snape replied.

"I'm Mile Morden, primary manager at Gringotts. You are requesting VIP service, may I know your intentions before we proceed?" he asked.

"Just opening an account," Snape said, hoping this goblin would do what he came here for.

"Understood..." the man continued in the same tone. "Then please... would you follow me?" He requested, and Snape followed him to a room at the back.

They walked through the corridors of the bank until entering a luxurious room. Snape sat in an armchair facing the goblin, who then snapped his fingers, causing various papers to appear in front of him. "You must sign all these papers to open an account," he said.

Snape began flipping through them, signing after a brief read, despite finding the terms quite overbearing, he still accepted, seeing the necessity of having a bank account.

The man in front of him seemed to sweat as Snape read the terms, and Snape signed the last sheet before handing it back. "Here you go," Snape said.

"I hope our terms are quite agreeable to you, Mr. Snape..." he stated, and Snape raised an eyebrow.

"I disagree with some things in the contract, but I don't have a choice, do I?" Snape said.

"If there is anything you find displeasing, you could let us know... after all, we always want the best for our clients..." he said with a cautious tone.

'I've always heard these guys are leeches, why are they being so kind...?' Snape wondered internally but nodded at the goblin's suggestion and began to mark the options in the contract that he found displeasing.

He handed back the entire contract, which removed any transfer fees, maintenance fees, and even the penalty for account loss, leaving the entire deposit for the goblins.

The goblin himself seemed shocked and reluctant, but upon looking at Snape, he didn't think twice before signing the contract and handing a copy to Snape.

"We are pleased to enter into a contract with you, Mr. Snape... How much will your initial deposit be?" he asked curiously.

"100,000 Galleons of gold," Snape said, satisfied with the fortune he had amassed over the last few months.
