[Chapter Size: 1800 Words.]
Third Person POV
Hogwarts.
...
...
Clarisse and Snape returned to the school after sneaking through the entrance of the Forbidden Forest, heading back to the castle together and going straight to the Slytherin dormitory, since while Clarisse had her OWLs, Snape had to prepare his potions.
"..." Clarisse remained silent the entire time, but kept glancing at Snape often.
"If you have something to say to me, say it." Snape was tired of being stared at constantly while the girl didn't even know how to be discreet.
"That... thing you did to the centaur..." She started, a little lost, looking at him as they walked. "That can't be the result of a potion..." She finally said as Snape met her gaze.
"Maybe, but that's not your concern, is it?" He said in a dry tone.
"I think it is..." She murmured, realizing that even if it was something else, he didn't want to talk about it.
They continued walking until they found the entrance to Slytherin, with Snape saying the password and entering, Clarisse following him. The house common room seemed full, as some students wouldn't go to Hogsmeade as usual, preferring to stay and study.
"Clarisse?!" A student exclaimed, seeing Greengrass entering right behind Snape.
"Where have you been...?" She asked before really understanding the situation, looking at Snape with a surprised look. "I mean... where were you two...?!" She exclaimed as if it were big gossip.
Snape shrugged and looked at Clarisse, "I'm going." He said, starting to walk to his room.
"Alright... Thank you for everything!" She still thanked Snape for taking her to the Forbidden Forest, knowing she could have been in big trouble if she had been alone with that centaur.
"..." Snape just nodded and kept walking.
"Friend! Why didn't you say you were going out with him?! Are you two dating or something?"
"It's not that! He helped me with something today."
"Stop being silly, I'm going to tell Daphne and Cassandra immediately!"
"Wait! It's not like that, don't do it!"
Snape heard those girls arguing before continuing on his way to his dormitory.
"You are free." Snape released Atlas at that moment, while the Graphorn stretched its legs and made a sound at Snape.
"Hooo."
Snape looked at it with a frown and sighed. "Dobby." He said, and a house-elf appeared at that moment.
"Master Snape!" He said cheerfully.
"Hello, Dobby, can you bring food for Atlas? I don't have time to go to the kitchen." Snape said, and the elf nodded before disappearing and returning with some dishes.
"Here, Atlas, lake mud stroganoff with mint gum and vulture feather with marshmallow and spinach." He said cheerfully while Atlas nodded happily before pouncing on the dish.
Meanwhile, Snape, while setting up his cauldron to start preparing his weekend potions, looked at the elf with a small grimace. "Forget it, you'll kill him with the type of food, not the quantity..." He murmured and went back to making his potions, completely ignoring Atlas eating the food enthusiastically after Dobby left.
Snape continued making potions for the rest of the day with Atlas resting. It was time for him to go to the common room, but he didn't want to waste time, so he called Dobby once more.
"I need food." Snape requested.
"Yes, Master Snape!" Dobby replied cheerfully but was stopped by Snape at the last moment.
"Before you go, make sure you don't bring anything other than what I usually eat, right?" Snape asked, his eyes beginning to shine with a dangerous tone, making the elf tremble with that.
"Yes, of course! Nothing but what Master Snape eats!" He said, and suddenly the food appeared, looking as if Snape had scared him so much that he came back quickly, but Snape nodded satisfied with his usual food.
"You know... this way I don't even need to go to the common room and that would save some time..." Snape couldn't help but murmur, after all, he should be the only student in the school who asks for food directly from the elves while most students didn't even know elves existed at the school and those few who did treated the creatures like air.
"Wizards are really stupid..." Snape couldn't help but remark on the level of perception the students had in noticing the usefulness of certain things.
He finally finished a large part of the batch while cleaning his personal inventory of Acromantula bodies and starting to have more space, one he began to place his dagger and wand in.
He raised his hand while there was nothing, until suddenly, with small lightning, a wand appeared in a millisecond as a response. "This will be quite useful..." Snape couldn't help but murmur.
He then remembered that he still had to complete the mission and went to the castle courtyard to do it that day, without anyone interrupting him. After finishing, he returned to the dormitory, opened the system to distribute the points, but was surprised by something.
"I'm not gaining more points?" He was surprised that his condition had changed; he gained only one point in this daily mission.
"This is bad... and this system doesn't even tell me why, but it must be a consequence of my leveling..." He murmured, looking at the points.
After adding more points to intelligence, hoping to become more powerful in magic and smarter to understand his studies, he closed the system and finally went to sleep.
The next day, Snape went back to doing his exercises before the students finally got up for their day and returned for breakfast.
"Hi." Lucinda appeared by his side, but she had a different tone than usual; she seemed much colder.
"Hello..." Snape replied calmly and went back to eating. This seemed to make Lucinda look at him like a hawk.
The people nearby saw this but remained silent, just watching Snape, waiting for what new trouble he would get into this time, and it came before anyone could react.
"So, you're dating Greengrass?" Lucinda suddenly asked in a direct tone, making everyone stop eating and look surprised at the girl's outburst, seeming like they would have a lovers' quarrel, but Snape looked at her a little surprised.
'What's this now...' He wondered and decided to ask the girl. "Why do you say that?"
"Because they're saying you and she were out together yesterday... Is that true?" She asked while the table remained silent with the fifth-year or younger students.
"I helped her with something, but we're not dating the way you think... besides, who goes out with someone on a Saturday morning to do something like that?" Snape scoffed, not even understanding why he was wasting time answering a girl who was apparently jealous because he helped another student from the same class.
"Really? With what?" She asked, insisting.
"We went to the Forbidden Forest to get some herbs, can you stop nagging with these questions now?" Snape said a bit dissatisfied.
"!!" Lucinda was a little surprised with Snape going to the Forbidden Forest and at the same time scared by his tone with her. "Sorry..." She commented in the end, while the table was silent, just listening to them.
"Can you all go back to minding your own lives?" Snape looked at all of them after turning his face away from Lucinda, making everyone get scared and look away, with no one wanting to face Snape.
Snape sighed and decided to leave, exiting the common room while not only being watched by the students who were listening to his conversation, but even the headmaster had a gleam in his eyes when he saw him walking out the doors of the hall.
"Did you hear... Snape is in a love triangle with Lucinda and Clarisse?" A Slytherin student said.
"It must be... I always see Lucinda with Snape, especially in classes... I heard that yesterday he went out with Clarisse Greengrass... Could he be cheating on Lucinda?" Another student who loved gossip commented.
"What juicy gossip! I can't wait to tell my friends." A student exclaimed immediately after hearing this.
"But he's so handsome... I'm not surprised by this..." Another student commented, seeming to like Snape as a secret admirer.
"These students... I still remember when I was young..." At the teachers' table, Professor Sprout couldn't help but comment, looking at the Slytherin table.
"Were you listening to the gossip?" Professor McGonagall seemed horrified, looking at her colleague.
"Of course, it's hard not to hear these students talking endlessly as I walk through the corridors." Sprout said.
"..." McGonagall was still speechless...
"Let the young ones be... They will always be like that. I can't wait to read tomorrow's 'The Hogwarts Observer.'" Albus commented.
"You read that, Albus?" Professor Slughorn asked, a little surprised, not believing that the headmaster was interested in the student-run gossip newspaper, although he himself read it to keep an eye on whom to invite to his weekly gathering.
Speaking of 'The Hogwarts Observer,' the author himself appeared at that moment. "Did I hear that right?!" Suddenly, a student emerged behind the Slytherins after hearing them talk about Snape.
"Edmund Whitley! What are you doing here? I hope you're not going to write more stuff about us like last time!" Someone from Slytherin threatened the young man immediately, while Whitley raised his hands.
"I already made a retraction about that," Edmund replied, still with his hands raised, giving an excuse.
This was Edmund Whitley! Edmund, a fourth-year Ravenclaw student, always had an interest in stories and events around him. He often walked around with his magical camera and a notebook, recording everything he found interesting. His goal was to become a great wizard journalist, and he had already started his own unofficial newspaper at Hogwarts, 'The Hogwarts Observer.'
This newspaper covered all kinds of events happening at Hogwarts since it was created, and most students read it to find out what was being said and what the latest news was, whether someone had gotten into a relationship or other things Edmund Whitley published, making him one of the most popular people in school.
Many loved him, but others hated him for his publications. He constantly made enemies by talking about someone who didn't like it, but Edmund believed he had the mission to spread knowledge and information to people, regardless of whether someone disliked it. He wanted to be a symbol of information.
"But back to the subject, this will be so interesting, Snape in a love triangle!! This will be a new gossip topic at school!" He exclaimed excitedly as he continued taking notes. Snape had already been the target of his newspapers in recent weeks, making waves since he returned to school. But what made Edmund happy was the inexhaustible amount of content Snape could generate for him to write unofficial articles at school.
"Snape, I've written a lot about you... but I've never liked you so much. I hope we can have a very eventful year with you being the center of attention!" Edmund commented cheerfully.
