Chapter 41 - Saturday 05.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

It was after a few hours that Snape finally found Hogsmeade after skirting the forest to the north. He looked at the town a kilometer away.

"Finally, we arrived..." Snape commented, looking at the sky getting closer to the horizon before it disappeared completely.

"Ohhhh!" The sound of the Graphorn came beside Snape as he looked at the animal.

"I believe it won't be a good idea for you to come with me like this..." Snape murmured, after all, a baby Graphorn could be a big problem.

"Hooo?" The animal looked at him curiously.

"I have an idea, but you won't like it..." Snape said as he grabbed his bag. "If you want to continue, you'll have to get in here." He said, and the Graphorn seemed hesitant about it.

It was only after a while that the animal seemed to accept, having no choice and entering Snape's bag in the end.

After seeing the animal inside the bag, he decided to continue towards the town. The sound of lively music quickly filled his ears as he entered the first streets coming from the north.

The town was quite busy at the end of that afternoon as the place was filled with Hogwarts students who circulated the shops buying one thing or another, mainly staying in their own groups of friends.

Snape didn't care about them as he continued on his way, he wanted to return to Hogwarts. He might not have gathered the amount of Nightshade he wanted, since that witch got in his way, but he still had a good amount to make a decent initial batch of potions.

Some students noticed him as he walked alone, but he didn't care as he continued down the town's streets.

"Hey, look!" A student in a Gryffindor robe nudged his friend and pointed at Snape at that moment.

"It's him! We finally found him!" He said after searching for Snape all day.

"What are we going to do? We can't attack him in the middle of the town, can we?" His friend said.

"Yes, but he seems to be leaving town and heading to the castle! We can catch him on the way!" Another suggested.

"Yes, let's ambush him!" They left, taking a shortcut.

Meanwhile, Snape ended up being approached at that moment. "Snape!" Snape heard a particular voice calling him and saw Lucinda approaching him, as she seemed to be in town with a group of friends who were watching their interaction with interest.

"Hello..." Snape said calmly.

"I thought you wouldn't come to Hogsmeade!" She exclaimed with a shy and cheerful smile.

"I wasn't going to, but I ended up here." He commented, wanting to leave and go to the castle.

"So we can have some fun!" Lucinda commented as she grabbed Snape's arm, catching him a bit by surprise with her movement, but he didn't stop her as he was pulled along.

"Come... have you ever had butterbeer? I don't remember you coming here before." She asked, and asking this to a Hogwarts student was almost an offense, after all, everyone had had butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks, but Snape wasn't everyone.

"No..." He replied, a little thoughtful as he tried to remember if he had ever had it.

"That's great, let's go, and I'll show you!" She exclaimed as she waved to her friends from Slytherin. "I'm going out for a bit, goodbye!" She said.

Snape had no choice but to let the girl lead him around, while the Graphorn inside the bag was confused with a feeling that it would stay in there longer than it imagined.

She pulled him into a bar called the Three Broomsticks while the place was full of students from so many houses and different years in their groups.

Some saw Snape entering with Lucinda while she seemed quite excited, and many raised their eyes to the boy who was the most talked about in this second week at the school while he held a bag on his shoulder.

"Hello Madame Rosmerta! Give me 2 cups of butterbeer, please!" Lucinda went to the counter, asking the woman who was serving the other students.

Seeing Severus at the counter, some murmured. "He's here... why did he come with a bag that size, is he here to buy a store?" Some students mocked.

"Look at that material, it's a shabby bag, fitting for a half-blood..." Some sixth-year students from Snape's house were mocking him from a distance.

"He's here..." a Gryffindor girl murmured as she saw Snape with the Slytherin girl. She looked at her companion. "Are you alright?" she asked, concerned.

"I am... it's just that..." Lily looked at Snape from a distance while she saw the girl from her house looking so excited like a girlfriend next to Snape, who kept a neutral and serious face.

"All right..." The bartender looked at the couple and kept her gaze on Snape for a while longer. "Who is this? I don't remember seeing him here before, and he's too old to be a younger student..." Madame Rosmerta said with a strange accent to Snape.

"Yes, he hardly ever comes to Hogsmeade..." Lucinda said, and Snape raised an eyebrow at her, as she spoke as if she knew him before.

"I see..." Madame Rosmerta had a peculiar look at Snape. The woman placed two mugs on the counter while returning to her duties.

Some students nearby kept an eye on their conversation, trying to be discreet.

"Speaking of which..." Lucinda took her cup and drank, before turning back to Snape. "Where have you been..." she asked, wanting to make conversation.

Snape listened to her and looked at the cup, already sitting here, why not drink. He felt the taste entering his palate and found it not bad, while he drank calmly. After that, he turned back to the girl who had brought him here. "I was picking some herbs outside the town, I ended up having to cut through behind the town..." Snape commented.

"You had to come through behind the town? It sounds like you were in the Forbidden Forest saying that." She said with a small smile, trying to make a joke.

"That's because he was." The bartender, Madame Rosmerta, suddenly spoke, making Lucinda look at her stunned.

"What do you mean..." she asked, surprised.

The woman with her unique accent looked at Snape with interest. "You can try to hide your scent with cleaning magic, but I still recognize someone who enters the Forbidden Forest." She said, and immediately the students at the counter who heard this fell silent, all looking at Snape with wide eyes.

"Is that true..." Lucinda murmured.

"I had to get some herbs, nothing much..." he said, shrugging while drawing the attention of everyone nearby, who immediately started gossiping.

"But it's forbidden!" Lucinda said, looking worried.

"Yes, but there are always some brave students... Anyway, just be careful." The woman at the counter spoke to Snape as a warning, and he nodded.

No one there could imagine, not even the woman, that Snape had gone through a situation that no one there would survive, being chased by 1000 giant spiders and having to face one of the most powerful creatures in the Forbidden Forest, coming out alive.

Snape went back to drinking his butterbeer, appreciating its flavor, with a sweet and creamy taste, similar to caramel or butterscotch, with a thick foam on top. Meanwhile, Lucinda seemed to resume the conversation without asking about the Forbidden Forest.

"Where is he..." Meanwhile, outside the town, the seventh-year Gryffindor students had been standing there for a good while waiting for Snape to appear on the road. Many students walked by, but there was no sign of Snape, and the sun was setting at that moment.

"We've been here for 20 minutes... he should have appeared by now!" another complained.

After another 40 minutes had passed, Snape finally decided to leave. "It's time for me to go," he said to the girl, while she seemed sad.

"All right... you said you were going to work on some potions..." she murmured, and Snape nodded.

"Yes, I need to get to the castle before nightfall," he said.

"All right, if you can, let's meet in the common room..." she said a bit more hopefully.

"All right." He said and started to leave.

"Goodbye, boy, make sure to be careful where you walk." Madame Rosmerta said with her strange accent, and Snape nodded.

He then left the place, heading towards the exit to Hogwarts.

The Gryffindor students, tired of waiting for an hour and about to give up, saw Snape coming down the path, carrying his bag.

"It's him! Finally." They celebrated and drew their wands.

"Okay, let's start our revenge on this snake." One of them said, grabbing his wand and casting a spell as a wall began to grow from the ground along with a sign.

"What is this now..." Snape could feel the magic being performed from some distance as he approached and saw a wall in front of the road with a sign, diverting to a path leading between some trees.

"They think I'm that stupid? The Slytherins would have done much better than this..." Snape scoffed, already sensing the two presences hidden in the woods. "Alright... Let's see what you're made of." Snape commented as he sighed. He could destroy that magic but wanted to confront the idiots.

So he proceeded into the forest as the shadows of the woods began to cover him as he entered.

"He's coming!" said one of the Gryffindor students urgently. "Quick, grab your wand and get ready!" he said, and both prepared themselves.

A silence fell over the place as Snape entered the area, while some students began to emerge from the road. They seemed like a couple enjoying a weekend date in Hogsmeade.

They finally noticed the transfiguration spell with a barrier preventing them from passing with the sign. "What is this? What's this detour?" they asked, surprised, as they looked towards the forest, since the sign pointed that way.

"Why a detour into the forest?!" the girl asked, surprised.

"This can't be possible..." the boy said, looking into its darkness, stunned.

"Something's happening in there!" the girl alerted as she saw movement in the middle of the forest.

Then, rays of light began to appear in that place, with spells being cast and illuminating the darkness while the couple was scared. Screams followed too. Then everything went silent again.

"What is that?" a girl asked, worried and scared.

"I don't know," her boyfriend said, a bit fearful as he grabbed his wand, a little shaky.

However, in the midst of that silence and darkness, a body came flying out of the forest, passing by them.

"AHHHHH!!" This body screamed as it flew in a straight line. The Black Lake was beside that road, and the person screamed, wearing Gryffindor robes, falling directly into the water while the couple watched, terrified.

They only heard the sound of the boy falling into the lake. "What was that?" the boy shouted, pointing his wand at the forest.

But then, another body emerged from the forest, passing by them and falling into the lake along with his companion.

Snape emerged from the forest shortly after, walking calmly as the transfiguration magic began to undo itself. He passed by the couple without caring about them. The students looked at him strangely as he shrugged and headed towards the castle as if nothing had happened.

I wanted to give more immersion to the world and made this little passage to know Hogsmeade better.
