Yousuke breathed a sigh of relief when Nomu stopped attacking him. He was sure that if he waited any longer his left arm would receive permanent damage.
'No matter now, since the thing is already dead.' thought Yousuke.
He sure as hell wouldn't say that he killed the damn beast, even if accidental murders in this situation seemed more than passable. He'd be questioning UA's lack of intelligence if they blamed the superpowered teenagers full of hormones for overusing their superpowers in such stressful situations.
But admitting to having murdered the monster would lead to him being put on some sort of watchlist, with unnecessary counseling for the foreseeable future. And that was the last thing he wanted.
"Nomu! What are you doing?! Beat the little shit!" shouted Tomura, desperately.
The blue-haired villain was experiencing the despair of having his strongest fighter be defeated even after it looked like it was about to come out on top, almost like it opened a chest and was transported to a high-level area all of a sudden.
But Nomu would always listen to his commands, uncaring of the condition of its body, so if it wouldn't that meant it either couldn't hear him, or it was dead, because anything short of killing the thing wouldn't keep it down.
That was a scary thought to Tomura, because he couldn't even begin to imagine what Yousuke's quirk was to do something like this.
'A dual DEF-AGI build? With instant death spells? What kinda cheat character is he?'
If anything, Tomura was underestimating Yousuke's abilities, because he could also heal somewhat. So he was even more cheaty than he thought.
The truth wasn't too far off from what Tomura said, but it wasn't 'instant death' spells that ended the Nomu, but rather a very macabre and deadly use of his balls. The teen had used the balls that sneakily infiltrated the monster and moved up to its brain, where each ball used the monster's brain tissue to increase in size to the point where the balls could explode and do substantial damage.
Yousuke could tell, as a human being, even if a messed-up one, that whatever Nomu was... wasn't human, not anymore. He chose to end the beast's existence, rather than let it continue living for the purpose of listening to that manchild of a villain.
The teen would've wanted to give the monster a proper burial, and perhaps find out who it used to be, before it turned into whatever it was now, and give their family his regards. He would make sure of it after this incident was done.
For all it was worth, the beast died on its feet, but whether that was from the commands hardwired into its body or the last vestiges of the original body owner's will pushing through, Yousuke couldn't know, but he liked to think it was the latter.
The teen turned to Tomura with the intention of beating him up, but he discovered the blue-haired villain was missing, along with his misty-bodied accomplice.
'Kurogiri must've woke up while I was being hit by Nomu and teleported with Tomura.' reasoned Yousuke.
The hero trainee couldn't help but click his tongue in frustration, yet he couldn't do anything about the two. And still, he had more pressing matters at the moment he should worry about.
Namely, Thirteen and Midnight, who were heavily injured. He couldn't sit around for the rest of his classmates, but without Nomu, Kurogiri and Tomura in the game, they shouldn't be in any substantial risk.
Though, he wasn't inconsiderate enough to leave and not give his friends a heads up of sorts.
|INTERMISSION|
Hitoshi was panting hard. It wasn't as if he was in bad shape. But continuous fighting for the past half an hour or so was bound to have every trainee present in USJ practically running on fumes.
And to make matters worse for the purple-haired teen, he was dropped in the worst possible environment for him: the flood zone. Hitoshi would've honestly preferred the conflagration zone over this. And before anyone says anything about how he couldn't fight in that place when his preferred weapon was a long strip of paper, fighting with a wet piece of paper was infinitely more frustrating.
Besides, his capturing weapon was fireproof, obviously. But it wasn't waterproof, as he'd just found out.
And to make matters worse, the only other trainee who was sent to the flood zone was the one guy who could make electricity of all people. Hitoshi would've liked to scream into a pillow or something to release his frustration at that moment, but there were none available nearby.
It was rough, but he'd managed to get on the ship nearby just before Kaminari unleashed his 1 million whatever move that stunned all the villains in the artificial lake. Hitoshi grabbed the blonde teen and dragged him to the shore, since his ultimate move apparently short circuits his brain.
He walked towards the plaza, expecting to hear sounds of fighting. But it was quiet there. And, as he found out once he stepped out of the woods surrounding the plaza, he wasn't the only one to make his way there.
It seemed as if he and Kaminari were the last to get to the plaza. The other hero trainees were resting on the ground, with a relatively big pile of villains to the side. Hitoshi would've been concerned with the villains waking up and attacking them, but it was hard to worry about that when the villains were restrained in a huge hollow cube of ice, with small holes for air. Besides, he could also see the big monster the villains appeared with at the base of the pile, and it certainly didn't look fight-ready.
The teen set Kaminari down in a seated position before properly checking everyone around. And he couldn't help but notice something somewhat alarming.
"Hey..." he started. "Where's Yousuke?"
To Hitoshi's surprise, the first to reply (well, maybe reply was a bit too much) was Todoroki, who simply pointed one finger to what the purple-haired teen initially considered to be scorch marks of sorts.
They read the following message:
Left to take Midnight and Thirteen to the infirmary.
Use the bus to drive back to UA if you know how to drive.
Ignore Nomu (the black monster).
-Yousuke

"..."
Hitoshi was speechless.
'Did he just leave us here?'
