Horror stories written by Joseph Kohtz The Ghoulish Haunted Mansion: On Halloween, a group of kids decides to go inside an old abandoned mansion to see if it's haunted and end up getting scared out of their minds by all sorts of monsters and ghosts. Return to The Ghoulish Haunted Mansion: On a field trip, Susan Piper takes her class to The Wellington Mansion and tells them how it was haunted before she got rid of the ghosts a decade ago on Halloween with her friends' help. She also told her class how to re-haunt the house and warned them not to do so. The next day, on Halloween, six of Susan's students enter the mansion, bring the ghosts and monsters back, and get scared out of their wits. Jack, the jack-o-lantern who knew their teacher, protects them with help from Alvin, the ghost puppy, and tries to convince Victoria to read the same spell Susan read when she was in the mansion to get rid of the ghosts. The Spooky Halloween Sleepover in The Haunted Woods: After a few of their friends go missing, a group of kids investigates The Dead Woods to find them. While there, they run into monsters and ghosts that pick them off. Since their friends are disappearing, they decide to have a sleepover in the haunted woods until they find their friends, but they soon all go missing after the hauntings get worse. Fear Itself: After being told a ghost story around the campfire, a group of kids who go to a camp gets scared to death while ghosts and monsters haunt the camp and forest. They get scared, but some think it's all a prank by one of the counselors at first, even when the campers and the counselors start to get picked off one by one. Even though things look bad, some campers still think it's a fraud, at least until things get worse. Because the longer they stay and ignore the ghosts' warnings, the worse the hauntings get. Then they become convinced and start to get scared out of their wits.

Chapter 8

Once they got to the front porch, Alvim Jack, Violet, and the kids tried heading back inside, but they forgot they put a bookshelf in front of the door. Alvin then looked through the door and saw the bookshelf in front of the door. Alvin said, "You blocked the door, remember?" Mandy said, "Oh yeah." Victoria's backpack then started to glow, and she opened it. Victoria saw a page glowing and opened to it. Victoria read what was on the page and said, "'Spells for walking through walls.' I'll try." Victoria put her hand on the door and read, "This wall is a solid mass, but now it's like a doorway I will pass." Victoria then reached her head in the door and saw the magic was letting her in. Victoria then walked through the door and the bookshelf and entered the house. The others tried walking through the wall but couldn't. Victoria then leaned out of the door and said, "Oh yeah. 'Warning: This spell only works on witches and wicanns.' So, since I'm the only witch, it only works on me. I'll let you guys in." Victoria then went back into the house and moved the bookcase aside.

Victoria opened the door, and the others walked in. Once they got in, they saw the living room was full of ghosts. Mandy said, "Yikes. Like we're up to our elbows in ghosts." Victoria took the spell book from her backpack and asked it if it had a spell to make the lights come back on. The book then opened and turned its pages itself. When it stopped, it stopped at a wishing spell. Victoria snapped her fingers and used the wishing spell to make the lights come back on by wishing for it. All the ghosts vanished once the lights came back on, including Alvin.

The kids then entered another room and looked around. Victoria then sat in a chair in the room and tried to find a spell that could bring Alvin into the light. Victoria pointed at a page and said, "Restoration Spells." Victoria turned the page and said, "Resurrection Spells." Victoria turned the page and said, "Rival Spells." Victoria closed the book and said, "Nothing here about bringing ghosts into the light. Even magic can't break the laws of physics."

Victoria turned the lights off, and Alvin came back with another ghost. The kids then screamed, ran for their lives, and split up all over the mansion. Alvin and Griffin stayed in the room and hid under a table with a sheet over it. Mandy held Jack, and they hid in one of the bedrooms upstairs. Ned, Oscar, and Quinn all hid in the same closet. Victoria and Violet hid in the mansion library. While hiding, the kids all started to get haunted.

Alvin and Griffin started to hear a moaning sound from inside their room and started getting scared. Griffin whispered, "What was that?" Alvin phased through the top of the table and saw a ghost moaning inside the room. He then phased back through the table and told Griffin what it was. Alvin whispered, "There's a ghost in here. So stay quiet." Jack and Mandy hid under the bed in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Then they looked up and saw the bed they were under was rising. Mandy said, "Why is this bed flying in the sky?" Jack said, "It's not. We're sinking in the carpet." Mandy tried reaching out of the carpet, but part of the carpet grabbed her wrist, and they continued to sink into the carpet. Once completely sunk, they fell through the floor and ended up in Alvin and Griffin's room. The ghost in the room saw Many and Jack and then made a scary face at them.

Jack and Mandy then ran for it, grabbed by Alvin, who was invisible, and they started panicking. Then Alvin brought them under the table with Griffin. Griffin then slapped Mandy and said, "Calm down." Mandy said, "I can't. There's a ghost here." Alvin said, "Yes." Alvin turned visible again and said, "That would be me." Jack and Mandy saw that Alvin was the ghost who grabbed them and calmed them down. Mandy said, "Alvin? It was you?" Alvin said, "I had to save you from that ghost." Jack said, "Thanks. But next time, do it without scaring us half to death."

Meanwhile, Ned, Oscar, and Quinn hid in the closet. Then, they started to hear a pounding sound. Ned said, "What's that?" Oscar said, "It's the beating of a ghost's dead heart." Then, they started to hear a ghost moaning for them. The ghost said in a scary voice, "Kids, Violet, Jack, where are you?" Quinn quickly opened the door while screaming and slammed the ghost against the wall with the door. Quinn yelled, "I'm getting out of this house." Quinn ran down the hall screaming, and Ned and Oscar ran after her.

Meanwhile, while Violet watched, Victoria searched the book for the spell that would un-haunt the house. Victoria said, "I can't find the correct spell." While exploring the spell book, the lights went out, and the ghost of Sarah Belington appeared. Sarah said, "I believe you have something that belongs to me." Victoria said, "Yeah. Come and get it." Victoria and Violet then ran out of the library, and Sarah Belington's ghost followed them. Since the lights were on, Victoria and Violet ran into the foyer, but the ghost of Sarah Belington disappeared. Victoria said, "I think we're safe." Sarah then used her magic to blow the power again, and all the ghosts emerged. Sarah then came out of the library and said, "Are you? Book!" While Sarah yelled for it, the spell book floated out of Victoria's hands, but Victoria said the same spell and the spell book started to float toward her. Sarah and Victoria both shouted, "Book!" The spell book kept floating back and forth between the two of them, but it couldn't decide who to go to. Violet then jumped on the book and told them to stop, so they did. Violet said, "No more of that spell. Whoever gets it first gets it." Victoria and Sarah raced for the book, and Victoria got it first. Sarah then floated up to Victoria and tried to take it from her, but Victoria wouldn't let go. Victoria said, "I got it first." Sarah said, "But it's mine." Victoria pulled the book away from Sarah and ran away with it. Sarah chased after Victoria and Violet, trying to get her book back, but Victoria and Violet hid and ditched Sarah. Victoria whispered, "She's gone."
