Pathways and progress

About a week later, lessons has resumed and life had returned to normal. The new time tables had been given out, so, the students were trying to adjust accordingly.

Over the few weeks since learning commenced at the academy, and despite the unfortunate events, the students had still all made progress in their chosen pathways.

Yashiro continued to learn the certain responsibilities guardians had. He was also expected to complete a large number of workouts weekly, so that he'd be physically ready for what every challenge he had to face as a guardian. He was also learning exactly what it meant to become a guardian.

Sando wanted to one day become a high ranking member of the powered unit of the police force. He felt, there'd be no lack of action there, and that way, he could legally fight "powerful" individuals with his abilities. He and other students including Rando, Shihata, and Fukuma (though he wanted to work as an engineer instead of a police officer) who also wanted to be a part of the police department were learning about the various laws of the country and laws the police officers had to abide by.

Minako also decided to take the public service pathway, but the firefighter route. She believed her powers could be used to put out dangerous fires and certain rescue missions. Just like Yashiro she was making sure that physically, she was prepared for the pathway as it would involve heavy lifting sometimes. It was also the reason she was working so hard during the week to create structures with ice, in case they were ever needed.

Aibuto was more interested in physics and engineering than having a professional that was well suited to his ability. He found himself leaning towards aviation after all the lessons he had been taking.

Hirase was comfortable with vibrations through the earth, so be decided seismology was a good branch to take in the science pathway. As preparation for that he studied different waves and their potency, was learning how to use the richter scale along side his ability so he could determine the magnitude of an earthquake by just feeling the vibrations.

Koda was a good artist. Which is why he liked to name his moves and create complex things with his ability. He decided that architecture was the path for him as it involved two of the things he liked the most. Structures and art.

His sister, Rezu was different. Just like Minako, she believed her abilities were best suited to fight fires. However, she wasn't restricting herself to just house fires, she wanted a situation where in the event of a forest fire, she'd be called upon.

To do this, she tried to control a large volume of water at once but she was making little progress doing that.

Mika thought hard about what she was good at and what she could do with her powers. On the questionnaire the students were given to select their pathways, she ticked other as she had something else in mind. After getting the "ok" from her teachers, she decided she was going to become a spy, legally.

After meeting detective Fuhira, Rando was certain he wanted to become a Detective, or at the very least, a police officer. He held them in high regard as he had a strong sense of justice so he thought the police department would be a perfect fit for him.

Tanori had a fairly good understanding of medicine and was constantly being inspired by the academy doctor, Hirime. He decided he'd use his ability to go down the medical pathway and become a doctor. He was now trying to fine tune his symbols so he could do more with them

Dota had a range of options because of the versatility of his power, but ultimately, he decided he'd also join law enforcement and become a member of the powered unit. There were different laws for powered officers. For example, if a civilian were to be harmed while a powered officer used his/her abilities, they'd immediately be removed from the squad. So, Dota had to familiarise himself with these various rules while also getting better at using his power.

Rani chose the toxicology branch of the medicine pathway. She felt it was a perfect fit for her ability as she dealt with toxins and poisons all the time. She continued to make and experiment with different gases and toxins but she was always running out of energy so she tried to work on her stamina.

Most assumed Chibi would become a zoo keeper, or zoologist. However, she believed zoo's were cruel in nature, as they kept animals in captivity. She decided to show her love for animals by becoming a vet instead. That way she could communicate with them and know exactly what was wrong so she could help. She worked on giving birds more complex instructions and was trying to see if it was possible to understand the animals too. So far, she had no luck.

Murake wanted to work in the entertainment industry, specifically to become a movie producer. He believed he could help actors with special effects so the scenes felt more real as the illusions he'd create would help their reactions be genuine. He continued trying to create more vivid illusions that could deceive all of the human senses but he was starting to believe that it was impossible.

Fukuma spoke to Kaneda when he visited the academy to discuss security matters with principal Fujimoto. He was greatly inspired and after Kaneda showed him the combat suit alpha, it gave him an idea of his own. Kaneda told him he'd work closely with him to ensure that the idea became a reality. After this, he was certain he wanted to become a "police engineer", as he put it. He worked closely with Tokiho to see to what extent he could control electronics.

Sezato wanted to become a professional race car driver. It wasn't directly linked to his ability but he had always loved fast cars and watching races. He was currently too young to drive the race cars so there wasn't much for him to do. Instead, he was made to work more on his ability so it could be refined and become more powerful. Then maybe he would be encouraged to find a path that suited his ability.

Chino had a big family. So, she was usually always surrounded by her little cousins. She loved teaching them new things. Whether it was how to climb a tree, or to help them do their homework. She enjoyed doing these things. So, naturally, she decided to become a teacher, and help more kids learn new things. Out of all her classmates, she had the most to learn as teachers were required to know a large number of subjects. So, she was constantly studying.

Hayasato wanted to work with the ambulance unit of a hospital. He believed because of his ability to open portals, he'd be able to significantly cut down the time it took for the ambulance to reach a patient. He studied hard so he'd know the basics of treating someone and what to do depending on their injuries. He also tried to create extremely large portals, big enough to allow a van to go through. At some point in his pathway, he would also have to go around the city so that he'd have at least visited every site so that he can open a portal there when the time came.

Takegai was also someone who wanted to be in the powered unit of the police department. He believed with his invisibility, he could easily walk up to a suspect and apprehend or incapacitate them before they realised what was happening. He worked on his combat ability and the duration at which he could be invisible.

Finally, Takeyomi decided that when the time came he'd start a delivery company of his own or join an existing one for the time being but in both scenarios, he'd charge large amounts for near instantaneous deliveries. He was trying to increase the amount of teleportations he could do a day.

Overall, the teachers were pleased with the progress all of the students were making. They decided it was time for some of the students to do some learning outside the gates of the Academy and they were setting things up to make that happen. The students still listened to their teachers and did not respect them any less even after the incident, which the teachers appreciated.

Overall, things were back to normal at the academy.

Very sorry for the delay of this chapter guys, I plan on being more consistent this year
