Indeed, the reward was surprising. Especially the fact that the weapons can evolve and the two weapon choices available to him

Staring at the weapon choices, they match the same as Honkai Impact 3rd. Pistols, Katana, Cannon, Scythe, Lance, Gauntlet, Cross, Greatsword, Chakram, and Bows. Their 3 star weapons were right in front of him with their listed abilities and stats provided

Looking at the gauntlet section, he knew which weapon to choose. Despite Honkai Impact 3rd making 3-star weapons easily obtainable and surpassable as you progress. Uesugi was a hardcore fan of Honkai Impact 3rd and read the lore of the game

While he may not remember everything by heart, a glance is enough for the memory to return. 

After seeing the various options provided, he stood before a gauntlet with pure white features, tinted with orange lines.

Cas-X Saints

A pair of gauntlets that provides Fire DMG passive with each blow and increases affinity with fire elemental attacks. Schicksal has uncovered the origins of the manufacturer being Mikoyan Design Bureau, one of World Serpent's technological companies, and is known to produce many types of weapons suitable for Valkyries.

Seeing the new weapon that will be accompanying for years to come, Uesugi couldn't help but get emotional. He already thought of the upcoming evolution path for his weapon

When he grabbed hold of the gauntlet, the system asked "Is this your final choice, Yes/No"

Pressing on Yes, a flash of light covered the gauntlets, causing it to disappear from his mental space. When he tried finding it, he realized it appeared on the blank figure sitting in his mental space

Heaving a breath of relief, Uesugi went towards the Katana section. 

Usually, it would be better to choose a close-range weapon and a long-range weapon to limit one's weaknesses. However, when he reaches the pinnacle of strength, distance will be nothing to him

Choosing a Katana is mainly to help Raiden Mei when he visits Chiba Academy in Nagozora Japan. Besides, it'll only be his secondary weapon and won't be his main fighting force

However, Uesugi planned on using a Katana as a disguise when he joined Shicksal's Valkyrie Team alongside Kiana, Mei, and Bronya. After all, in 5 years, he'll gradually increase his strength to reach A-Rank or if possible, Pseudo S-Rank Chevalier

While he could choose pistols as his secondary weapon, he noticed they didn't have much potential. Despite Kiana Kaslana specializing in Kaslana Gun Martial Arts, when she started progressing, she mainly relied on her Honkai powers and used a greatsword at some point

Putting aside his random thoughts, Uesugi saw a sword that caught his attention. 

With a blue handle and a sigil-shaped golden hilt that spread throughout the blade, it emitted flashes of lightning that contained destructiveness in its unique shape

Lightning Soul

The weapon purely boosted Lightning DMG similar to CAS-X Saints. It was developed in St 7308 Lab and was designed to mass-arm Valkyries. 

His weapon of choice was purely boosting his attacks. Some weapons grant special functions, especially 4-star weapons but they'll have to wait until he becomes stronger

Besides, relying on equipment rather than his technical skills will only destroy his future. His path of growth is similar to the protagonists and any game where equipment will change as the level increases.

Now that he mentions it, wasn't his LvL still stuck at 0 even though he completed a quest? Acting upon his thoughts, he opened his status screen and saw the changes that happened

Seeing his current stats, he nodded in satisfaction. The increase in STR and INT should be from his continuous battles and enlightenment from the mysterious existence

Energy should be his Honkai Energy reserves. He made some calculations and determined, that converging the aura into his fist should cost 1 energy

While a full-body aura coat should cost 0.1 energy per minute.

The LvL 1 status cost him thinking. Previously for his first mission, he did not level up

Meaning that there were two theories.

One is that the mission was a tutorial and that he leveled up when he completed option 2 of his current mission

Second is the increment of stats that led him to this level

Uesugi thought for a moment but decided to stop thinking. Currently, the only thing known about levels is the talent awakening chance at LvL 10

The liquid started coating his cells like he did with Honkai Energy to enhance his body.

This time, the enhancement will be permanent as a layer of shine covers his entire body, filled with power and vitality

System Notice: Talent [Focus] has evolved, now you can determine the battle power of other people

The notice closed as Uesugi couldn't receive the surprising news.

Time seemed to pass within the blink of an eye. When Uesugi's eyes started twitching, gaining consciousness from his slumber

Opening his eyes drowsingly, he saw his current situation.

Despite being in liquid, he felt that he didn't need to breathe at all as his cells could absorb oxygen and minerals for him

He noticed that the enhancement effects weren't working on him anymore as he swam upward to the surface

When he swam, he realized that his clothes weren't wet at all and could only account for the Rebirth Liquids' property

During his slumber, he could feel his body getting stronger and his mind becoming more clearer

The Rebirth Liquid truly lived up to its name. If enlightenment awakened him to his true self then the liquid elevated him to further heights

When he reached the surface and exited the liquid. Suddenly, the liquid started dissipating as if it had lost its existence

Within a few seconds, a huge gap on the ground appeared with no signs of a big pool of water seen

Uesugi Shuu had a shocked expression on his face as he had to re-evaluate the powers of the system

Generally, systems in novels had a certain limit to the host's strength when they exist as an inheritance

As a result, they will have to rely on themselves to reach the pinnacle of their universe

Adjusting his mental state, he tried calling upon his gauntlets, CAS-X Saints.

The glove appeared in thin air and wrapped his land like a glove. He felt no discomfort and sensed the power boost it granted him

Then, he checked the changes brought by the Rebirth Liquid. As they say, in strategy, 'know thyself before others'

The changes appeared as he witnessed numbers that surpassed his imagination

[Focus+] can detect weak points and view the power levels of others

While the Rebirth Liquid brought forth a quantitative change in his stats that doubled, the effect of Focus truly surprised him

Unless someone is capable of hiding his true power level like in Dragon Ball then he'd be able to judge the powers of others easily

Of course, there may be other factors such as a weak-willed mindset but in general, it can be a good reference.

Nodding after his preparation before battle, he flexed his muscles and got into action, leaping off like a superhero with vigor.
