This was not the first that Mark heard of his son's ridiculous suggestion. Alexander clearly inherited his grandfather's tendency to always bet low and gain high.
The guilty father had to blame himself and Sullivan for talking business every dinner. They never really considered that they were influencing the growing yet smart toddler at the dinner table.
Even though Mark and Sullivan supposedly shared the fault, the real reason that post-vision Alexander was this way is due to him reliving the life of Other Joe.
A poor bloke that always wanted to save everything he has but society forces him to spend big. Being a poor man in an inflated economy forces a man to make hard choices.
The young boy was born with a silver spoon but knowing what the extreme opposite of it has to offer made him want to strive to keep it that way and even improve it.
Alexander's totalitarian solution of kicking out those with increasing wages for newer and low-salary employees was born from the influence of his adult role models and Other Joe.
Going for instability and impermanence when running a production company is letting it go downhill, however, doing it in moderation isn't too bad.
His production company isn't a solo business anymore!
Mark was also shifting to be more business-minded with the family company going for a bigger merger. He now had to also consider the views of two-thirds of the committee, so he proposed a compromise.
"Completely erasing the slate when a movie is finished is too overkill! We could go for a milder version and only kick out the crew member if he is undeserving of it."
This only goes for someone part of the filming crew, logistics members would be in much easier criteria.
Alexander did not have more to say on that matter. He would just come off as a spoiled brat to his dad if he insists on having his way. It was already pushing his luck to have his father consider his words.
With that topic out of the way, the only problem to deal with is the actor's remuneration. It would be easy to recruit no-names in the talent pool of Hollywood but when those no-names have names, their prices hike up.
The gigantic MCU and DCEU were plagued with this problem to the point that they had to kill off the characters to stop their continued vampirism.
Franchise faces such as Will Smith, Keanu Reeves, and Johnny Depp were highly paid actors due to the movies being deeply connected with their characters. If they wouldn't be part of the movie, it would probably flop, forcing studio executives to pay them big bucks.
The father and son have high confidence in the 'Kid Psychic' movie, so the kid in the movie would be raking in money in the upcoming sequels. While Mark was okay with the actor trend, Alexander was inwardly unreconciled, so much so that he blurted out in exasperation.
"Why don't I just take the part of John? This way, the movie can focus its budget more on visual effects experimentation and development!"
Mark did not know how to respond well to his son's thriftiness but he viewed the actor's suggestion in a positive light. It was out of his expectations that Alexander would consider even leaving the residence but it was now a more welcome surprise.
"If you want to be John Smith, then maybe I should consider being Jonathan."
The director slash father was enjoying this father-son camaraderie of theirs that he really wanted to extend even more. He was already making excuses in his head but having his son step up first was the best option.
Old man Sullivan was eavesdropping not far from them. The possibility that they were starring in the movie made the old man feel left and had to go out of his hiding to become a pesky third wheel.
Under his continuous persuasion, the script second film was changed and John would have a true psychic grandpa which was Jonathan's main inspiration for his fraudulent spiritual endeavors.
The grandpa, James Smith, would then be another comedic foil when his prowess was being compared with his young and innocent grandson.
Although none of the Creeds had not much experience in comparison with true actors and their lack thereof would diminish the feel of the movie. It was still important to note that this was a movie to be made by them and it would make sense for them to be able to do what they want.
When the trio was all in agreement about their step into acting, the adults realized that the extraordinary John was a perfect character for the extraordinary Alexander.
The character would also be even more shocking given that it will be played by a younger character. There would be shifts in the first script but they would only be minor adjustments like kindergarten and the age interaction.
All that was in the way was testing Alexander's aptitude for acting. Given his means of manipulating his elders while maintaining a cute facade, his acting prowess was already present.
His acting skills may not be far off from his drawing, reading, and screenwriting skills. With all the surprises he has given them so far, they wouldn't be too surprised that he would be proficient in the performing arts.
Young Alexander only blurted out the actor replacement as releasing frustration. It was not his intention to make it a reality that even his grandpa was willing to be a part of it, although it was only in the sequel.
With the current progress of things, it was too late to turn back and it had more benefits than drawbacks.
An important benefit to all of this is the fact that his guilt in putting a kid with the child actor curse would be washed away.
As for the drawback, well... he had to be the one with the child actor curse. But given that he was responsible enough along with his adult supervision being at full force, that curse might not apply to him.
Drinking, drugs, and drowning in fame are things that should be frowned upon.
This is just going to be plain horrendous, silly, and more disgusting than my main trashy work.
You've been warned!
