Chapter 51 Halloween Special

"Andy can already cast spells without a wand?"

The young wizards looked at Andy in shock, as if they were looking at Dumbledore's successor again.

Obviously, we were all young wizards of the same age, yet some had already mastered the skill of casting spells without a wand, while others...seemed to be Squib!

How big was the difference?

Professor Flitwick was speechless.

Does this count as a levitation charm? Maybe!

Is this a wandless spell? Of course not!

The function of a levitation charm was to make objects float into the air, and from this point of view, Andy's magic could barely be considered a levitation charm.

But casting a spell without a wand is a very high-level spell-casting technique.

Even if the effect was the same, 'spell-casting' and 'direct application of magic power' were two very different things.

Andy's practice could only be considered as a kind of application of magic power, in essence, it could not even be described as 'spell casting', let alone 'wandless spell casting'.

"Two points added for Ravenclaw."

Professor Flitwick was happy that the guaranteed four points per class had arrived - an extra point for successful spell-casting.

If he asked a few more questions in class, Hermione could add even more points to the Ravenclaw.

The House Cup was beckoning him!

It had already been two months since the start of the academic year, and the current rankings for house points were: Ravenclaw first, Slytherin second, and Gryffindor dead last, with an all-time low point record.

Professor Flitwick secretly clenched his fist and pumped his fist, as long as the current momentum could be maintained, this year's House Cup would definitely belong to Ravenclaw.

After the successful spell casting, naturally, it was time for the questioning session.

On the Ravenclaw side, Hermione helped to point out the young wizard's spell-casting mistakes, which saved Professor Flitwick a lot of trouble.

Of course, this was also related to the fact that Ravenclaw's young wizards loved to learn and were good-tempered.

If this was changed to Gryffindor, he needs to ask questions himself.

Not scowling at him would be considered good.

As for the Gryffindor side...

As far as Gryffindor is concerned, teaching is a success as long as there are no accidents.

Young lions always have their own way of learning, their brains may not be useful enough, but their body's muscle memory is fine.

So Professor Flitwick was happy to give Andy some extra guidance in his free time.

"Looks like you used to exercise your magic when you were a kid."

Professor Flitwick said, "Of course, this is also a reflection of talent. Not all young wizards can use their magic power skilfully before enrolling in school."

Andy asked curiously, "Professor, is this kind of practice useful?"

"Well...it's hard to say."

Professor Flitwick said with much deliberation, "It's hard to say if it's useful or not, there are no statistics done by the magical community in this area."

"By the time you reach adulthood, your magic power will be completely stabilized, and by then it will be difficult for you to do this kind of thing."

This was something Andy naturally knew.

If this kind of exercise is useful, wizards wouldn't need to use wands.

Professor Flitwick continued, "But ancient wizards would use this method to exercise their descendants, and I'm talking about - before wands were invented."

Andy nodded in understanding.

Ancient magic and modern magic were two different things.

The former was powerful and not easy to control; while the latter is easy to master and much simpler to cast spells.

Andy then asked many more questions on magic spells, and Professor Flitwick answered them all.

Soon, the time of the class passed.

Andy was still a bit unfulfilled, but it was a pity that Professor Flitwick did not belong to Andy alone.

The Ravenclaw next has a Defense Against the Dark Arts class, and in the afternoon, there is a Transfiguration class, as well as a History of Magic class.

The new Professor Down was at an okay level, and Professor McGonagall was a veteran professor who had been teaching for decades.

Both classes taught a lot of knowledge.

After three classes in a row, and then a nice nap in the History of Magic class...

Today's class schedule was just perfect!

In the evening, the castle organized a Halloween dinner.

Huge pumpkin lanterns floated overhead in the great hall, and tiny bats lay on top of them and occasionally flew up in swarms, drawing gasps of alarm from the young wizards.

The ceiling was densely covered with layers of dark clouds, which made the great hall seem a little dim, coupled with the ghostly candlelight burning in the pumpkin lanterns...

Needless to say, the festive mood was there.

Dumbledore rose, and he gave a short benediction followed by a joke that he had kept in the bottom of the box for half a century. So much so that not a single person in the entire great hall except Dumbledore found it funny.

But everyone was still very respectful and warmly applauded.

Because clapping means the speech is over.

The dinner finally started, and all kinds of delicious food appeared on the long table, all traditional Halloween delicacies.

The house elves were very good at what they did, even the top chefs in the muggle world couldn't compete with them - they are professionals at what they do after all.

Andy ate delightfully.

"Want to take a stroll through Hogsmeade tonight?"

Andy leaned over to Hermione and suggested quietly, "Halloween in the wizarding world is a blast!"

Hermione was a little tempted, but she still firmly refused Andy's offer, "If you dare to sneak off to Hogsmeade by yourself, I'll tell the Professor!"

"What's the point of me going alone if you're not going?" Of course, Andy knew that Hermione would never go, but this was the routine!

The young witch smiled sweetly and seemed to even have a much better appetite.

Andy smiled again as well, the routine had worked tonight.

After all, there is an old saying: since ancient times true love can not be retained, only the routine will win the hearts of the people.

Halfway through the dinner, the door of the great hall slammed open, and Filch ran in in a panic, "Headmaster Dumbledore...there's, there's a young wizard who was assaulted, right...right in the underground chamber!"

After saying that, Filch gasped violently for breath, seemingly terrified.

"Ah..."

A scream was heard from the Slytherin side as the young witch called Pansy Parkinson shouted, "It's Draco! He hasn't shown up for the dinner, I thought...I thought..."

Andy hastily looked over at Harry and Ron, only to find that they were both brimming with confusion as well.

At this moment, quite a few people were looking towards Harry and Ron.

After all, it was common knowledge that they had had a conflict with Malfoy and that they had sacked Malfoy - although Harry and Ron had never admitted it.

"It's them!"

Pansy Parkinson screamed, pointing at Harry and Ron, "It was Potter and Weasley who attacked Draco!"

"No! It wasn't us!" Harry denied it in a huff.

Ron shouted back, "We haven't seen Malfoy all day today."

"Quiet-"

Dumbledore shouted using a sound amplifying spell before saying in a hushed voice, "Miss Parkinson, we should never accuse someone without proof."

After saying that, Dumbledore's gaze turned to Filch, "Argus, was the person who was attacked Malfoy?"

"Yes, yes!" Filch answered meekly.

"Prefects!"

Dumbledore said solemnly, "Lead the students of your respective houses back to the common room immediately."

"Professors, follow me to the underground chamber!"
