Chapter 9 - Inventory

Seon-mi lay on her bed, a heavy air of melancholy surrounding her as she absentmindedly scrolled through the system, the cat curled up on her lap offering a semblance of comfort in the midst of her solitude.

She tapped yes, feeling the same vibrant energy course through her body once again. Then she noticed another tab that wasn't there before 'Inventory' she pressed it and it opened up a separate box with a bunch of smaller boxes inside. One of the smaller boxes had a little picture of a katana in it.

"It's here." Seon-mi tapped on the icon.

She navigated to the shop to do a price check on the Katana, after a few minutes of searching she found it, the result caused her to sit up abruptly.

Seon-mi placed the cat on her bed and stood up.

"Let me try something"

She approached her door and took a fighting stance, winding up a punch as her body twisted to gather momentum, then releasing it & swinging as hard as she could, she threw a heavy blow at the door. It was then she realised she had made a grave mistake.

Seon-mi's hand throbbed with intense pain, the sensation of her fist striking the door lingered through her entire hand. The pain was unbearable, she dropped to the floor gripping her wrist.

"Bad idea, that was such a bad idea! Damn that really hurts!"

Seon-mi went to the kitchen to put some ice on her knuckles. In the commotion she had failed to realise that there was now a huge crack and fist indentation in her door. She was much stronger than she was before, but the transformation isn't something you measure by punching a door, although technically you could, it would be better if you discovered it in the heat of battle.

She returned and swiped back to her inventory page.

"Now how do I actually equip this, let me try something"

Seon-mi stood in the center of her room, took a deep breath in, placed her hands together like she'd seen heroes do in movies and manga, and attempted to summon her Katana.

"Nothing.... How about this"

She stretched her arms up as if she was trying to summon something, waiting patiently, the quietness of her room causing her to realise how stupid she must have looked.

"Seriously?

Seon-mi returned to her bed and threw her weight down as she sat, waking up the cat, who jumped off the bed and scurried out her room door.

"I mean, it's not like I can just reach in a gra-"

Seon-mi's hand had disappeared into the space where the system box floated. She poked her head around the back of the box but her hand was nowhere to be seen.

"That's so weird."

She closed her fist and pulled it out, bringing out the Katana with it.

"Now that's pretty cool!" She exclaimed.

Night had fallen, Seon-mi spent a decent amount of time navigating her way through the system, familiarising herself with parts she hadn't seen yet.

The intricacy of the mysterious system that granted Seon-mi these abilities was far greater than she could comprehend. The small section she had access to was merely a fraction of what the system was truly capable of, and she was determined to uncover all of its secrets.
