THE COUNCIL

I followed Kai out the metal door and down the stairs towards the kitchen. He wrapped his arm around my waist as we walked through the hallway at the base of the stairs to the kitchen. I slid into his embrace and looked up at his face as we entered the kitchen.

I heard a knife clatter and the clearing of a throat before I turned my head away from Kai. Around the island stood four men, each one of their faces were painted with shock. The man closest to Kai and I recovered first and he smiled brightly at us. His smile made chills run down my spine and I subconsciously sidled closer to Kai.

The man closest to us was wearing a pair of black slacks and a grey button down, a flashy wristwatch caught my eye as he motioned towards Kai and I.

"Kai would you care to introduce us to this fine lady?" He asked, his voice clear but an accent was hidden well underneath. The three other men nodded behind him staring intently at me.

Kai cleared his throat and all the men looked at him, intrigued by what he would say. "This is Cassiopeia, and she is my eternal mate.." he said before pausing to look at each man, "..If i find any of you even thinking about touching her, I will tear out your heart." He said and I looked up at him and saw his eyes begin to shift from grey to red.

I quickly went up onto my tip toes to lightly grab his chin and turn his head towards me. His eyes met mine and I lightly shook my head. I didn't know much about his world but I knew it would be bad if he went on a rampage.

"Kai I'm hungry." I said and I watched his eyes shift back to grey and he nodded pulling me further into the kitchen, pointing to the breakfast nook tucked in a corner for me to sit.

I sat and looked over at the men and the one who had spoke earlier walked over to me. "I'm Caverin, the second in command just below the king." He gestured to the men behind him and I saw they were all wearing the same black slacks, and similar dress shirts. "The one in blue is Mark.."

I looked over to Mark and he nodded at me. "The one in White is Andrew and the one in black is Soyer, they're twins." I looked over as the twins nodded a simple greeting towards me and went back to their eating.

I then glanced over to Kai, who was already finishing my food and was bringing it over to me. I smiled as he set my plate down and immediately dug into eating, unintentionally ignoring Caverin.

I heard footsteps coming down the hallway and looked up to see Amber coming into the kitchen, dressed in a black buisness suit, with way to much cleavage to be considered professional.

"Oh look Kai's slut made it to breakfast." She scoffed before walking towards the fridge. I set my fork down and wiped my mouth before crossing my legs.

"Excuse me?" I said, my voice surprising myself with the way it powerfully echoed against the wall. I felt Kai chuckle next to me, and he leaned back against the bench we were sitting on. She snapped around and looked me up and down.

"You heard me. You're nothing but a power hungry bitch who wants my place as queen." she said while walking towards Kai and I's place at the table. "You think you're special but all you are is a bed warmer." She finished before placing her hand on Kai's shoulder.

As soon as I saw her touch Kai my vision went red and the next thing I knew I was standing next to her, and grabbing her bright red hair once again. I slammed her head onto the table and heard a satisfying crunch. I pulled her head back and looked into her face watching the fear and shock dance in her emotions.

"I believe you owe me an apology, Amber" I said before slamming her head again. When I pulled her head back up I watched tears fall from her eyes and I smirked. "You are not allowed to touch my mate, your room will be moved and you will never address me as such again." I said before winding up to slam her head again before I felt Kai's hand on my arm.

I looked over at him and saw his amused expression, switch to shock and looked over at the other men who were all having the same reaction. Kai lightly pulled me off of amber and threw me over his shoulder, carrying me upstairs.

"Hey what are you-" I started to say before I was cut off by Kai starting to speak into the phone. I accepted defeat and slumped on his shoulder until he set me down on the bathroom counter. He kissed me when he set me down and then stepped back and hung up the phone.

"What is going on?" I asked and he sighed running a hand through his hair. "You-" he started before running his hands across his face. "Wash your hands, Kitten." he said before walking out of the bathroom.

I looked down at my hands covered in blood and grimaced. How was I so strong to overpower an Immortal? How was I even over to her so fast? I had questions running through my mind when I finished washing my hands as Kai came back into the bathroom with a new t-shirt.

"Are you mad at me?" I asked as he handed me the shirt. He shook his head and began to change my shirt for me.

"No, everyone hates Amber. That's probably the only thing we all agree on." he said before locking eyes with me. "The problem is is that your eyes were red when you looked at me. You didn't say anything to her for thirty minutes and just went beserk, I was finally able to calm you down."

My mouth dropped open. "Thirty minutes? I slammed her head into the table a few times thats it." I said "How were my eyes even red? You haven't changed me yet."

"Thats why I called Marcus. He's also bringing a witch with him." he said and I nodded, and leaned my head into his chest. He ran his fingers through my hair. "I have to admit that was pretty sexy." he said with a chuckle and I looked up at him.

I got up onto my tip toes and he leaned down to kiss me. I groaned into his kiss before Kai pulled away. I started to pout but he cut me off.

"Marcus and the Witch are here."
