Flight to NY

"You've a flight to catch by 7 and you're still sleeping?!" Asha says shaking me gently.

"Fuck off! I'll just reschedule." I say without opening my eyes.

"Seriously?! With which money though? Your wallet isn't even with you."

I get off the bed, yawning noisily.

"What time is it?" I ask stretching.

"It's 7.00am dude!" Asha replies.

I get off the bed and stretch again before leaving for the bathroom.

"Your phone's ringing!" Asha says from the bedroom.

"Leave it" I reply.

I spend an extra hour in the bathroom before stepping out, I blow dry my hair and dry my body.

"My clothes?" I ask looking at her quizzically.

"Oh, right. It'll be here any minute from now".

I get on with applying her body lotion.

My clothes arrive 3 minutes later and I put them on, stretch my hair and do some finishing touches on myself.

"Can I have your number?"

"Sure." She calls her number out loud and I save it on my phone.

"l'll be leaving now." I say and walk up to the cloor, I halt before opening the door. "And yes, here's mine. Make sure you call me". I say and hand her my business card.

"Thanks...for this. I'll drop by some day". She waves the card slightly in the air.

"Alight I should leave now." I say and turn on my heels.

"Mind if I accompany you to the airport? It's fine if you don't want...it's just...I'll miss you." Asha says with tears in her eyes.

She's this kinda person that gets easily attached to people. She's easy going, nice, tolerant and most of all friendly.

"Sure." I say and she looks the door.

We chat all the way till we get to the last floor. I regret being rude to ther, I loved this moment and wished it'd go on.

She flags down a cab and we get in. l instruct the driver to take us to the airport.

"Hey...I'm sorry." I say to her.

"Why?"

"No, really, l am. I'm sorry for being rude. I didn't know you're this nice, yeah? I was a douche bag, was sulking from the previous event that took place that night before i met your mom."

"Hey, it's fine okay? I'm not mad at you".

I smile and hug her, thanking her.

"I'm sad it's not gonna last. Did you really have to leave today?" She asks after we disengage from the warm embrace.

"Yeah, I promise to keep in touch. I will call you when I arrive NY". I say.

We had already gotten to the airport and we alight the car, I pay the driver before walking into the airport with her. She stays with me throughout the process till I get in the line and leads to the airplane.

I circle my arms around her tiny body and she does so too, holding back her tears.

"I'll miss you. Bye Arvy". she says. I could tell that she was sad through the underlying pain in her voice as she spoke, she was reluctant to leave me.

"Me too, Ash". I say and disengage from the hug. I walk back to the line and wave at her and she waves back at me.

"Safe trip!" She yells from a distance and I smile at her before turning to face my front.

Asha's POV

I couldn't bear the sight of her leaving and so I scurry out of the airport in tears. I've always had to bear the pains of my loved ones leaving me behind, it's so painful to bear but I had to let her go. I know I just met her last night and she seems pretty much of a stranger to me, but I've taken a liking to her and I take her as the friend I never had.

I flag down a taxi that'll take me back to the hotel.

I arrive in my room sad and feeling so lonely. There's a knock on my door and I go get it. I fling the door open and then I see the hotel room service personnel standing at my door holding out a tray containing plates that are concealed with some cutleries lying beside the plates in the tray. She smiles at me and hands me the tray. I politely tell her I don't need it and I slam the door shut at her face and walk back to the bed.

I take out my phone and open it hoping to get at least a call from her but none had dropped in but I didn't bother much as she got into the airplane not long ago and won't be able to contact me till she gets to New York.

"Hey, it's me Asha. I just want to know if you're back to New York. I miss you so much, I feel so lonely right now, I wish you could just return.

I toss my phone on the bed and rake my fingers through my hair, pacing up and down the room. I throw myself on the bed and fixate my gaze on the ceiling.

"Come on Asha, you can't continue to be like this. You don't know her, I mean, how can you possibly know her? You guys just met last night, so get her out of your mind. She's a stranger. Come on, Asha focus." I sigh.

I curl myself up on the bed and sing myself to sleep.

MARVLYN

It must be a very hard time for Asha right now, she's probably crying her eyes out. I feel so sorry for her and I feel really bad for leaving, like, I was the worst person but I had to leave. I really had to get away from Miami at least to avoid bumping into Jason.

I steal a glance at my phone, heave a sigh and turn it off. I lean back on my chair waiting to arrive my destination. I take my bottle water from the air hostess that stood next to me, without wasting a second, I break open the seal of the bottle and gulp down half its content.
