"What do you mean you lied to me about where I was born?" I sat up.
She brushed her hair back a little and leaned across the coffee table to gently hold my hand, "I didn't want to tell you because I thought you would be upset with me."
"Well I think I'm going to get upset if you don't tell me," I pouted. "Where was I born, Ma?"
"Well you see, your Pa went out real quick and there was an emergency at one of the fields. There wasn't another car on the ranch because we couldn't afford a second one nor were any of the help there either. I knew I shouldn't have but I made it on a horse and rode out after I called your Pa.
