You're Fired!

CHAPTER 4

On the other hand, Manager Theo was passing by and heard the shattering sound of glasses coming from inside the conference room and halted in his steps, his mind throwing several scenarios in as to what must have possibly happened.

He had a feeling that it wasn't good for anyone involved, including him.

Quickly he pushed the door and rushed in, only to be greeted by the mess on the floor.

"What's all the commotion?" he asked softly when his eyes landed on Drax who stood above Ariel. 'Fuck!' he lamented inwardly and clenched his fists.

"I clearly told you the rules, remember? How dare you cause so much trouble?" Manager Theo berated.

He did not give Ariel a chance to explain. Not that she could anyways. The situation was too tricky to do so.

More than that, her mind was focused on the handsome man before her and the words he uttered merely two minutes ago.

'My Beautiful Chaos'... she thought with an amused smile which for every reason infuriated Manager Theo even though it was a brief smile.

"Sir, my sincere apologies for this." He bowed his head and turned to Drax.

"There is no excuse for her being a newcomer. I was also the one who added her to the waitress serving. It is all my fault for not teaching her properly. I will do the necessary."

He knew how his boss was—cold, indifferent, dangerous, a man with high standards and...

Just the thought of his stained outfit made him wish the ground to open up and swallow him.

In all his ten years of working here, this was the first time such a thing had happened.

He did not wish to remain here longer. With the boss going silent, there was no telling what would happen when he decided to speak.

Manager Theo whipped his head to the side, glaring at Ariel. "What do you think you are still doing sitting on the floor like a klutz?"

Ariel looked up at him slightly confused but quickly understood why he said such a thing after seeing how furious he appeared. She got off the ground immediately and tried to hide her embarrassment.

She bowed down low enough that her head almost touched the carpet beneath them both. It seemed as if this would be another one of those days where everything went wrong around here.

"Hmm."

That was the only thing they got from Drax and quickly, Manager Theo ordered the other waitresses out, leaving only the male to tend to the men.

It was a miracle to them that Drax was not cancelling the meeting or something to change, given how much of a neat freak he was.

As soon as she walked into the office with Manager Theo, his scolding began, going on and on and on.

Ariel had never seen anyone so angry in her life before; she had always been told by her mother that anger should stay in the heart rather than on one's face.

She didn't know which was better given the situation she was in.

The manager's voice grew louder and higher until it reached a point where it became unbearable.

He called her clumsy for breaking glasses which cost lots of money for new ones and, worse, she hadn't been fully employed and had no money which meant he would shoulder the expenses.

But from all the talking he did, she soon found out he was more concerned about Drax's reaction later.

Perhaps he was holding back thanks to the guests present or not.

Whichever case, he was also a dangerous no-nonsense neat man from Manager Theo's ranting and she wondered if he would forgive her for ruining his outfit and meeting.

She knew if the cost came for damages, then her life would resume a debt state once more.

But even that was something that caused the pit of her stomach to churn and tighten. And then the killing stone she had been expecting finally hit her.

"You're fired."

The thought of being fired was not pleasant at all, especially since this job paid well above what some of her previous jobs did.

Howbeit, it was justifiable. Her only wish was to have slapped some sense into that scoundrel that groped her and made her lose her job in the process.

Wearing a forlorn smile, she lowered her head, thanked Manager Theo, apologized to him once again and exited his office. She didn't bother looking behind as the door shut with an echoing sound after she left.

She took her time changing as thoughts of the nightmare flooded her brain again, causing her body to shiver.

It had always been like this. Anytime she was in a new job and had a nightmare... something tragic was bound to happen.

An hour plus passed with her staring at her reflection in the mirror, wondering why her life was simply a mess and when she stepped out of the changing room, glares were shot from the other waitresses as they muttered their displeasure.

Apparently, they looked forward to serving at that meeting and hopefully catching the eye of some of the young CEOs present.

Sadly, Ariel made a mess and everyone got sent out. That and the fact that all eyes were glued on her heightened their envy.

Her mind went blank as she walked out through the hallways towards the exit doors till she came out in front of the building.

Ariel lifted her eyes and there stood Drax with two of the men from the meeting. His left hand was tucked in his trouser pocket as he paid rapt attention.

Ariel froze on the spot; it felt like someone had punched her right between the ribs, making it hard for her to breathe.

At that moment, all her thoughts were geared towards one thing—escape!

She swallowed the huge lump in her throat and was about to look away when Drax swept his gaze over to her.

Ariel froze in place as he accessed her for several seconds. She could feel herself trembling under the pressure of those dark amber—brown eyes.

He seemed to be contemplating something and after some seconds, he looked away.

She exhaled sharply, placing a hand on her chest. Just then he nodded and without a word walked towards the Range Rover waiting for him with the door opened.

He got in and the doors were shut but before the car left, Adam gave her a tight-lipped smile and got in as well.

Her lips remained parted as she watched the three vehicles drive off.

Not uttering a word, she walked off, heading for the bus station with seemingly clear skies above.

Drax's heart pounded against his ribcage so fast that if anyone saw them now, they would think they had just run a marathon or perhaps even been involved in an accident where they had been hit by an object at high speed.

His hands shook slightly while his mouth was dry from nerves which caused him to swallow repeatedly until he finally felt better and able to speak again.

"Find out everything you can about her and send her files to me," he ordered Adam. "I want to know every detail of this woman."

"Yes, sir."
