CHAPTER 5
DAVE'S PHONE
Dave knowing something like this would occur,before his confession, he had taken a leave of absence.
He was just getting off the call with Elena, telling him his wife was safe, he asks for the location of her whereabout
Elena couldn't give it to him, he totally understands. He knows it will piss Mary off if he ever goes over there.
She ended the call with
"Give her time Dave, she needs it".
He sighs as the line cuts...
He hears a car parking in the garage, looks through his window, he sees Mary stepping out of the car.
His heart starts beating fast, hard..
"Should he run to her".?
"Should he let her come up".?
The thoughts lingers through his head,
Despite being with Mary close to two decades, he hasn't seen her this way.
This time he couldn't predict her next move, which is quite scary
The door flings wide open, disrupting his thoughts.
He goes on his knees, immediately
" Babe, give me a chance to explain".
Mary walks right pass him, with teary eyes, goes over to the couch.
This might be the end of it, the marriage, why is she being cold, he is ready to accept fights, slaps,
but this coldness and distance was killing him inside
" Tell me everything, without missing out on anything". Mary utters looking dejected.
He goes over to her, with tears in his eyes, he didn't mean to hurt her, he never intended,
it was just a one night thing, a one time thing, which was about to cost him his marriage,
which has derailed him mentally. He opens his mouth, and the words starts flowing
" Remember when we were still having issues in our marriage in our second year of marriage,
I was looking for a way to escape the misunderstandings and there she came".
Dave stops,
He was shaking this time, the thought of the mother of his child, the memories starts rushing in.
An image of her saying her last word filled him up with Goosebumps.
He looks over to Mary, tears rushing down, he goes closer, holding her hands..
He had to be really plain with her, but the way the confession was hurting her, he couldn't bear it, it breaks him
I am really sorry Mary, it breaks me to see you this hurt".He goes on " it breaking me".
"You should have thought of that first, before sticking your penis wherever, all because of a misunderstanding". She cries out
No amount of apologizing was going to wash the hurt away easily,
" Babe, I swear it was a one time thing, I had started drinking".. he stops then continues
"I swear it never happened again, then the next time we met, she said she was pregnant, that it was due past for abortion, she had to give birth to the baby".
Mary stands up, she couldn't stand him right now.The deed had already been,
She has to embrace reality, the present.
Fear grips Dave, he is unable to read her, he can't read her body this time..
All he sees is pain, anger.
" This daughter of yours, any leads on her, how long have you been searching for her?". She mutters out quietly
" Not yet, the investigator said he is unable to really locate them, due to they are always moving in and out of cities". He responds.
He knew the next reply from him was gonna piss her off completely but he knew being truthful was the way out here
" The search has been for over a decade".
Marys eyes went wild open
"Over a decade!". She exclaim
And am just knowing about this now
" You mean to tell me, this whole marriage has been a lie". Her body shooks with rage as she speaks.
Dave tries to move closer,she puts up her palm to stop him.
She goes into the room, Dave follows suit, all he heard was locking of the door to prevent him from stepping in
PHILIP'S POV
Today was suppose to be the orientation day for freshers.
He had to catch up with the guyz. They were suppose to meet up at the venue.
Then he felt someone tap his back
" Yo, myy mann". Jay grins at him
shaking each other in their little coded way, then giving it each other a little pat.
"Mahn, it been a minute,what's been happening". Philip still holding Jay hands.
"It just school stuff, it getting draining, and you know my little music side hustle, mahn has to survive you know". Jay looks at him
Philip nods in head, acknowledging his friend
" The struggle is real, I feel you". Philip pats him friendly " but we should hang out sometimes, like really explore campus yunno".
"Oh for sure". Jay was about to say something else when he sees Sunny's over there with a girl, that boy is something else".
Jay points to sunny direction chuckling.
Sunny notices and said something to the girl, then he makes it to their direction, gives Jay and Philip the shake and pats them fondly
" Yo people, where have y'all been". Sunny says standing Arms akimbo.
" As for me, y'all know my side hustle, and the school stuff adding to it". Jay says, expressing his part with his fingers
" Mahn, no excuse on my part, but we should make create time one of these days".
Philip continues " how about you sunny what's been happening with you tho".
"Guys, y'all know am the life of the party, where ever I go, I gotta shine proudly".he replies chuckling
They all laughed knowing what it means..
" I think they are about to start the event, let's go in guyz". Jay chips in
As they walk in, Philip spots Magedelene watching a live video, she is giggling at it.
He'd never seen her giggle before. That moment, he just knew this was his chance to strike.
" Guys, I think we gotta catch up some other time, I gotta go shoot my shot at that damsel over there. Philip giving the guys eyes of please understand my situation right now
" Isn't she the girl from the other day". Sunny added quickly.
Philip smiles
"Mahn, the both of you are something else". Jay points at them both
"Hey, you know you gotta live a little yunno"
Sunny hits jay playfully.
