CHAPTER 13

SPARK'S POV

"Hello Madam, I am uncertain if you still recall my face". Smiling at the manager of the Shelter home, Mr Dave claimed he dropped off his daughter years ago.

"Oh, it's you again Sir". Mrs chapel returning the smile, indicting with her hands that he could sit on the couch.

"Oh yes it's me again". Sitting down comfortably,as he places his suitcase on the rug

"Mr Spark, Just like I mentioned the last time, there's has been no information on their whereabout ".She tells him, scanning through her files.

"Madam, I know you would have called me,I am here to ask for a favour". He says trying to cohort her.

Mrs Chapel nods her head, looks towards his direction "The last time you asked for a favour, i went over the lines and I can tell you I am not crossing that line again".

Spark quickly chips in "I know Mrs Chapel, but I have been following this case, for over a decade".

"You know, you should just give up" she heaves a sigh.

"You and I know that is impossible, I just can't opt out now, this is my job".Spark trying to convince her

Mrs Chapel goes silent for a while, then she continues, this time she talks in a low voice " There's something you need to know".

Spark nods his head, knowing he's got her where he wants her to be "okay, Mrs chapel what is it?".

"I just found a file recently on this case, supposedly, the couple who adopted this child, the lady is a lawyer too, I don't think you will be able to win this case".

" Thank you so much, this information you' ve given me has really helped" Spark breathes in the continues " But do you have any idea where she moved to".

"Mr Spark, I don't have such information, it been years since she's been here".Mrs Chapel answers frowning. Dave could see that even if she did, she wasn't going to say nothing, instead she would rather give him breadcrumbs

Spark knows it was time to leave inorder not to anger her. He stands up about to leave , Mrs Chapel reveals something else to him.

"I also found out recently that your client came to the shelter home eighteen years ago, dropped that poor child, like that baby wasn't his and left without saying anything" she sighs sadly then continues

Wherever that child is, she's happy to be there".

He knew Mrs Chapel was hiding some information, he could sense she knew more, but she wasn't ever going to tell him. He stands up finally ready to leave,

" Mr Spark, I want you to have this". Slipping a tiny card into his hands. "Do not let this be trace back to me". He nods his head which signifies understanding between them.

In his car, he scans the card smiling knowing this time he was heading somewhere, coming to the Shelter was not in vain once again.

On the card was the address of the former manage who gave Dave's child away.

Spark smiles grew big, this was one of the biggest lead been given to him, since he has been on this case.

He knows he owes Mrs Chapel a big one this time, she was going against her work ethics for this case

Despite, the fact she doesn't really understand how a person, Dave in this situation could just give away his baby, his own child into strange hands. She was still offering to help or probably she's just trying to get him off her back. But anyways this means a lot to him

When Dave first came to him with case, he didn't want to accept it, but over the years, with them becoming familiar, and seeing one another as brothers.

He started to see reasons on how Dave acted the way he did.

He opens his suitcase, places the card in it and closes it. That card is his first step in cracking this case and also locating their location.

As Spark drives back to the office, he reminisces on how he had gone to the Second city of the adopter and Dave's child.

He could remember vividly how happy he was,

When he got there, it was empty.

The neighbours all thought he was the adopter lover.

They couldn't give him any lead on where they might have moved to, because they said She never interacted with them, they said she lived a very quiet life.

He had asked them if they suspected if she was treating the little child bad, the person closer to her flat said the adopter always spoke to the daughter with love, on most times when she was home, they were always giggling, and going out, Nothing seemed off.

It all dawned on Spark that truly, this adopter was not ever gonna give up on the girl without a fight.

He couldn't explain all these to Philip, he is not going to listen, he could even hire another lawyer.

What Dave needs isn't another lawyer, but patience, and to be smart.

This Adopter doesn't want to be found, especially this child to be found.

What if she could not give birth to her own kids?

And nobody would want to see the kids they raised in love being taken away from them because they aren't the biological parent.

Dave thought of many scenarios on why the adopter was always running.

One thing was certain that this adopter feels she might lose custody of the child, so she is doing everything to keep the child to herself.

What Dave needs to do is to think smart, and to be two steps ahead of her. If not he wasn't ever gonna see his daughter, and even if he do sees her, it would be too late to make things right with his daughter.

A car hornks at Sparks car signaling to move his car, the traffic light had turn green.
