Reincarnation

In a world that is slowly dying, there is no magic,or any type of powers,. Humanity is stagnant slowly developing but fighting each other for natural resources.

The powers of the world refuse to accept that they are all the same species and refuse to see the benefits of unification.

In the middle of the night in an unknown location two men were watching many people enter and exit a series of tunnels in a mountian side.

" Ahh I just want to go home and watch more anime." Said One man.

"Shut up and quit your bitching." Said the other

Both men were in full military gear with with the latest in nightvision tech. They were on a night raid that had to be executed perfectly. They were the best of the best for this type of infiltration mission.

"Cap when are we going to move its 2400 and after this is over I need to get back to my waifus."

'Jesus christ I told him to shut up' thought the captian "we will move at 0100 so shut up we can't be spotted". Said the captian

The soldier who love anime continued to talk about his favorite anime girls for the next hour. The cap like always before a mission rethinks his life.

The captian lost his family as a young child, but still remembers them. They were involved in a terrorist attack. After the incident he was adopted by a military family who were close with his parents. He was well behaved and even more intelligent. Becuase of his adoptive families background he was set on stopping future attacks.

In his youth he played sports but had a very dull social life. You could say he was never truly happy and he never got into relationships due to his fear of losing people. He focused on his goal. In the meantime he filled his time with schoolwork and reading webnovels and fan fics of heros.

Though he had a goal. With his stellar grades and a will that would never waiver he went to the best military academy in the country.

He was proud of the country he came from but even more so he had a goal. Once he was done with school he got his commission. he was top of his class and could have gone anywhere but he wanted to fight for everyone's safety against terrorist.

After two years he rose 3 ranks as an officer. And his superiors decided to give him his own squad for special missions he chose the best of the best when it came to fighting and weapons. This was Carl he was an Otaku.

He had more members of his team who did logistics and other importand roles but they were not up to his standard to take on the missions only the goofy Carl.

After spending 4 years with Carl some of his traits rubbed of on the captian. The captian found he liked anime as well it was like he could see the novels and comics he read and they got along well. Carl introduced him to everything. He said he would watch anything once and he did.

The captians mind was blown at how much there was but his favorites were the typical hero tropes who served and helped everyone. Even though he had his goal he could never see himself as a hero and he did not want people to think he was one. He was also a big fan of harem anime because he could feel the love he missed out on in his youth and wished so many people would love him like that.

Carl rambled on an on as if the captian had never heard him say this stuff before. But he enjoyed the exchange while it lasted.

In this mission they had recieved Intel that this group they were watching was about to attack an area that would devastate the common people of the land they were in. The destruction would have been catastrophic as they got there hands on a large cache of old bombs and artillery munitions.

"Alright let's move ". Said the captian

" let's get some ". Replied Carl.

' did he really have to say that' thought the captian as they rush silently to the tunnel system.

Checking for traps and not noticing any they entered. They both were wielding 45 cal smgs for more control and movement capabilities and better silancing. They had a rough understanding of the tunnel network.

They made a few turns and found a couple terrorists sitting at a table eating. Everyone was an enemy so with out hesitating they moved them down. Quick and clean the 4 men were dead.

After about 20 minutes in the tunnels they cleared many areas like this and a couple barracks type room with bunks and people sleeping. They figured ther total has been about 100 men so far and killed silently.

In the intell there should not have been this many people. If they new they never would have sent a single squad. But they chose the best. They continued and found about 20 more people and they dispatched them effortlessly. The came across many gruesome scenes That they thought would only happen in some deranged hentai.

That was in one of the final areas of the tunnel system and it was a dungeon type place with cells they were many malnourished women and children both male and female chained to the cages. They were alive but had lost all hope.

The captian and Carl had seen many places like this. The prisoners were people who's families could not afford to buy there freedom. And unfortunately there government did not care about them as they were not high status.

Believing this was the end of tunnul system as this was the last available room to enter the free the prisoners there were only 2 adult women and 4 children between the ages of 10 to 12.

The captian told Carl to take them to the exit and to the exfill site. He was going to collect the bags of Intel they left behind on there way out. Call agreed and left with the hostages.

Going around collecting bags as quickly as possible the captain let his gaurd down and had his hands full. He made a wrong turn and came across them all quickly he haulled them to the exit. In the distance he saw Carl with the hostages.

He dragged the bags out and to where Carl was, he was going to back for more. Carl was trying to calm the people but he was not a linguistics expert. When they saw the captian trying to go back they tried to stop him but he told Carl to grab the woman and keep her there.

He could only think to himself that the woman raised a death flag over his head. But he had a mission and he was dedicated, the Intel in this nest could stop many attacks, he had to go back.

Walking through the silent caves his adrenaline was running low and he noticed how creepy the place really was. He was rushing around. Trying to collect more bags.

Carl finally got the woman calm enough that they started praying to their God. Carl sat on the ground after he had radio'd for exfill by the captians orders. Carl could hear the chopper in the distance he was excited to leave this place.

The chopper landed and and two members of his squad jumped out the man was one who could speek the native language and the other a beautiful woman who you could tell could kick your ass if you looked at her wrong.

Carl explained the situation and the man started to speak to the people and calm them further as Carl and Mia started grabbing the intel. Mia asked Carl where cap was and he explained so she offered to go help. They were contact through the mission so she knew the enemies were dead. That why she offered.

Down near the bottom floor as this was the last area to be checked Mia ran into her captian who was staring at a child's corpse. The terrorist had stuffed bombs into the body to cause more hell after their planned attack.

She walked up to him and patted his shoulder. Telling him there was nothing they could do as they got the Intel to late. Standing up and looking at the body. He never touched it or anything but noticed a faint green light in the chest area.

Instantly he grabbed Mia and put her behind his body as he was tall and built she was completely covered. The last thing he heard was her screaming and saw a bright flash.

The captians vision gone he could not use any senses for that matter. He was left in his own mind.

After God knows how long he noticed a light sapphire colored object. It was dull and distant. This was the first thing he was able to see in a long time he had basically stopped function effectively losing himself.

So when he saw this he was surprised he quickly regained a semblance of himself. But it was not getting closer. He tried everything he could think of when he exerted his will and drive he started moving closer.

The closer he got the more noticeable it was and it bellowed like a small fire. He thought to himself that he was dreaming as all senses were dull he wasn't thinking straight and could not remember what happened to him.

When he got close it was a small blue fire looking thing. Confused he kept looking at it and when he tried to interact nothing happened. Finally he was getting pissed as more time passed or did it he did not know but he felt he was thinking to himself and this object of a long period of time.

For the longest time he could not get any closer then a foot away from the object. But after so much time of watching this it it finally did something different it flickered like a candle that was about to go out. And he was able to get closer. Close enough to attach to it. And when he touched it it disappeared.

After a few seconds he felt a searing pain at core of his being worse than any training or damage he took in the military he had been shot before but this was far worse.

But after the pain subsided he was stuck with nothing agian no senses and no little wisp to keep him company only a void. For as long as he could remember he was alone.

In his mind he kept repeating the animes and novels he remembered the only entertainment he had. As he forgot who and what he was the only things he remembered were those and his will to fight terror and how terrible it is to be alone, these things drove him forward.

After so much time that he had gone blank finally something new appeared. His existence almost shattered he did not even notice this thing as his mind had shut down.

A being of unproportional magnitude appeared infront of the wandering soul. Looked at it with a smile. The being said to himself" this soul, how did it travel this far, and manage to stay intact? with how much time has passed since his death it should have shattered. "

He realized the reason and grinned. He read the souls memory and noticed there was something off. All he said was oh .. hmm you can help him then.

He had chosen he was going to save the soul and give him more then he could have ever dreamed of. He thought to himself, if he was still awake he would have liked to mess with him and do the whole wish thing and let the soul chose like he should have. But with it being nearly gone he can have a bit of fun.

He snapped his fingers and soul vanished from the void. Come find me when you are older is what he said before sending the soul away. With that the souls journey will begin and the being had high hopes he will stay strong even with out knowing his previous life. He was sending him somewhere fun of course and new the soul would love it.
