Chapter 2, Unaccounted

In year 2107, the ongoing conflict between the world's greatest powers led to a new technological development. A new mineral known as elecorrium was discovered and was proceeded to be used to fuel the machinery and technology that was used in the wars. In the present, year 2111, the war was still being fought between the Black Dogs and the New World. The Black Dogs were a group of highly trained ex-military veterans that were hired by the government to exterminate the New World and its allies. The New World was a group that used the newly found elecorrium to defend and fight back for their freedom. Simone, who was currently in transit to Orange Peak Village, was a part of a group that worked with The New World.

"This place has gotten worse." Simone stated as she onlooked the village from the mountains located north of it.

She saw two men shouting and shoving each other, as a black truck snuck behind them from around the corner.

She watched the following events as she began to hike down the mountain.

"Violence wasn't an issue for me growing up. But, I suppose it's true that times change. They're about to fight each other over what? In a small village like that, what could they possibly be fighting over?"

Two men got out of the truck and approached the other two men currently in conflict from behind. The first two men stopped once they noticed them and began to raise their hands in submission.

"What's happening here?"

One of the two men that got out of the black truck equipped a revolver from his jacket and aimed it towards them.

"Hey?" Simone stated as she picked up the pace. "What's going on here?"

*TEN MINUTES EARLIER IN ORANGE PEAK VILLAGE*

"Here we go." Preston stated. "The rope is finally configured into the suit. Go ahead and give it a try."

Austin, who was currently in the Utility Suit, aimed his arm at a metal bar attached to the wall.

"Make sure you do grapple and not capture." Preston instructed.

"How do I switch again?" Austin asked.

"I've told you, everything is motion activated." Preston explained. "Point your arms towards something with an open hand to grapple."

"Oh, yeah." Austin stated as he opened his hand. "That's right."

*PLING*

The metal claw attached to the end of the rope attached to the bar as Austin began to be pulled towards it.

"Remember to always capitalize on momentum. It can be your greatest friend." Preston reminded. "Calculate the trajectory and always land on your feet!"

Austin did everything his uncle said. He calculated the trajectory and prepared to land on his feet. He allowed the momentum to carry him to the point where he could land easily. His feet were set to land on the bar an then -

*BOOM*

The first of many shots were heard as Austin lost his focus. His heel grazed the bar as he soon began to fall off balance to the ground. Luckily, his Uncle noticed this and caught him before he fell.

"What was that?" Austin stated as he landed in his uncle's hands.

"I'm not sure. Go get your sister and then we'll see." Preston instructed.

Austin jumped out of his uncle's arms and ran into the house. To his surprise, Alice was dressed in a black, full-body suit.

"What's with the outfit?" Austin asked in a moment of confusion.

"Don't worry about that." Alice stated. "I think it's the same people that Uncle works for."

"That would mean...?" Austin replied.

"That they're probably looking for us." Alice explained. "You learned to use the utility suit?"

"Uh...sorta?" Austin replied.

"Well, it's time to rise to the occasion, hotshot." Alice stated as he equipped herself with a mini-revolving crossbow that was attached to her wrist as well as two Sai blades that were sheathed on the side of her waist.

"Wow." Austin replied. "This is the first time you haven't looked like a total dork."

"I guess I'll take the compliment." Alice stated with a smile as she took off her glasses and placed them in her pocket. "Let's go."

Alice and Austin ran back outside the house to see an entire team of attackers laying waste to the village. Building-crumbling explosives, vision-deterring flashbangs, and various firearms aimed at anyone visible in sight.

"Preston Richards!" One of them said. "It's time to deliver! Bring us the suit or you can kiss this village goodbye."

"That's Raiya, the Troublemaker." Alice stated. "It's said that wherever he goes, chaos follows. He's known for the time he took down an entire fleet of warships by himself."

"How do you know that?" Austin asked.

"If you spent a little more time using your brain, you'd know." Alice replied. "Now, where is our uncle."

"I'm not sure." Austin replied. "He said for me to get you first. He must be up to something."

"That old man is still hatching wild ideas." Alice mumbled. "Let's just make sure he doesn't get himself hurt."

"Preston Richards! It's your worse nightmare!" Raiya announced. "It's everyone's favorite troublemaker followed by my right hand, Seiji."

"Don't make us spill any unnecessary blood." Seiji continued. "Just give us the suit."

Raiya grabbed a kid and aimed his gun at the back of his head.

"Mommy!" The kid whimpered.

"Don't hurt my son!" The kid's mother cried.

"Preston!" Raiya stated. "Don't test me, I'll do it!"

Preston emerged from one of the roofs of the nearby houses.

"You don't have to hurt anyone." Preston commented as he dropped a metal pipe he had equipped.

"You were planning some form of sneak attack, weren't you?" Seiji commented. "We knew you'd do something of the sort."

Raiya let the little kid go as he ran to his mother's arms.

"Give us the suit." Raiya stated. "We know you have it finished. You were just trying to get your nephew accustomed to using it. But, that suit belongs to the boss. Understand?"

"I just wanted him to be able to prove everything works." Preston replied. "I'd like to show you guys a demonstration."

"Well, let's see it." Raiya stated.

"Austin!" Preston stated as he continued looking Raiya in the eyes. "Come on out."

"Go on." Alice stated. "If something happens, I'll be there."

"Okay." Austin replied just before he walked out onto the main road.
