Several days had passed since Jasem ascended the throne, and the path to his newfound power proved far more treacherous than he had anticipated. A handful of lords and loyalists who still harbored allegiance to King Cain attempted to assassinate him for his actions. However, with the unwavering support of Azzam, Duke William, and their loyal men, they managed to thwart these plots, leaving the would-be assassins defeated and imprisoned within the depths of the dungeon.

Yet, it wasn't solely the Edinyan men who found themselves confined within those grim walls. Several Rawanian lords, who refused to kneel before their new and seemingly tyrannical king, suffered the same fate. Jasem, though desiring a period of respite to revel in his newfound authority, found himself plagued by the emergence of this opposition, threatening to disrupt his plans.
