Day seventeen in Orario and my second day of vacation. Walking down the streets I can't help but wonder what I should do?
"Oh? Isn't it the Handyman? Don't suppose you could help me out?" A bald dwarf with a rough brown beard asked as he was carrying an axe.
"...With what?" I asked as I momentarily observed our surroundings. We were on the more green-side of Orario where trees are imported and planted along with wood-work being common.
"I need you to chop down the rest of these trees; my back's been killing me." He replied; must be one of the rare independents who aren't aligned with any deity.
I nodded and grabbed his axe as I headed towards a flurry of dozens of trees.
I swung my axe and proceeded to chop them down one by one.
After I was done I notified him.
"Ah? Done already? Great, here's a reward." He gave me a bag of Valis and… a jar of milk.
I raised an eyebrow to which he chuckled "Gotta keep the bones tough."
Whatever; I took it anyway. Free stuff is free stuff.
"Say, if you chop them into smaller pieces, there may be more of where that came from."
Well, I had nothing better to do.
†
I was once again walking the streets of Orario.
"Mr Handyman! It's a pleasure to meet you again." An old lady with bushy hair waved her hand as she stopped to sit down for a moment.
I nodded towards her in greeting.
She smiled "I don't suppose you would be willing to go to the local orphanage and hand these treats to the kids?"
I had time to kill.
I soon found myself in front of the gates of an orphanage. Emma was playing catch with the children in a playful manner. One of the kids paused for a moment and took a moment to look at me.
She had long-cream coloured hair and ruby eyes along with chienthrope features. "Ah, it's Mr Handyman." She pointed towards me.
Maria's Orphanage, this place was called. It's the most frequented orphanage as they do charity events and a bunch of promotional stuff.
"Where's Maria?" I asked the kid.
"Ah, she's inside." She replied whilst looking at me expectantly. I sighed, anime kids were different.
I patted her head for a good 20 seconds as her tail swished around.
I soon went inside and gave the package I was carrying to Maria Martel. A woman with black-hair tied into a bun with kind green-eyes.
"Ah, Handyman, I didn't expect you today." She… flushed momentarily? Milf material she may be, know her much I do not.
…Man, I'll never think like Yoda again.
I nodded towards her and handed a package "Delivery from stand old lady."
She gently smiled "Ah, you mean Miss Maye? She actually has a daughter around your age she's been meaning to introduce you to."
"Right." I nodded.
"She's a cute girl, and I'm sure you would be thrilled to meet her."
"I see."
"She's actually a fan of yours."
"Okay."
Is she done yet? I don't wanna spend my whole life here.
"She has the prettiest blue eyes and she's quite the looker."
"Got that."
"She's an apprentice to Miss Lenoa too. The oldest witch in all of Orario who's managed to outlive most grandparents."
"Understood."
"Marry me."
"No."
She pouted. She's like double my age.
On my way out I waved Emma a greeting as she noticed me.
"Bye, Mr Handyman!" Fina, the blond chienthrope eaved a good-bye.
I nodded back.
†
On the streets of Orario again, still wandering the streets.
My instincts told me to pause mid-way on the road.
BOOOOOOM
An explosion occurred literally in front of me. I would have turned to paste if I didn't pause. Oh my fucking god. I may have a revival spell, but that doesn't mean I like dying.
The people nearby me went into a craze.
"Shit, it's the insane mechanic!"
"Who set her free again?!"
"It was the red-head!"
"Damn Crozzo!" An elf screamed.
My ears twitched as I heard laughter and panic. I turned to a girl with… goggles being reprimanded by a short-haired red-head in black-robes on the city walls.
"More!" The girl screamed.
"Gaige, no!" Crozzo shook his head.
"Gaige, yes!" She reloaded her… turret? What the fuck, that's the kind of shit you see on a tank.
BOOOM
BOOOM
BOOOM
She was facing away from the city and yet she was somehow shooting towards the city? Wait, she's shooting both ways.
…
Fuck this shit I'm out.
[Farore's Wind].
Wind coated me and I found myself teleport to the Witch's Secret House. Huh, Lefiya was reading a book.
"No magic inside my shop." An old lady that embodied the stereotypical witch stated as she briefly glanced at me and then went back to reading her book.
"Link?" Lefiya noticed me and I walked towards her.
"Did you want to say something?" I asked her. She paused momentarily, as if confused, but then remembered our little interaction yesterday.
She nodded "...How do I aim better with your teleport spell?"
Ah, so that's what she wanted to say.
"Why?"
She intensely blushed at this question. "Don't worry about it."
I'm not even gonna bother to guess what implications that gave off. "Visualisation, memorisation, general knowledge of the location and mind."
She looked relieved at that "Thanks."
BOOOM
The entire shop wobbled and dust fell from the numerous shelves. A loud sigh resonated which drew my attention to the witch Lenoa.
She looked me dead in the eye.
"Gaige?"
I presume so, yes. I nodded.
She sighed again. "I don't blame you for teleporting; crazy girl that one is."
I agreed.
"Ah, so you met her too." Lefiya's voice sounded almost dead as her face lost all emotion.
She smiled at me "Don't worry, you get used to it."
…That didn't comfort me at all!
†
I left into the chaos soon after.
BOOOM
Omfg, I would've died again! Is she aiming for me?!
"Gin-san, what should we do?!" A voice drew my voice. A girl with short brown-hair in spandex asked a silver-haired delinquent samurai in a white kimono with blue waves.
"Urararararavity, we run away!" Gin-san rolled out of the way of an explosion.
"It's Uravity!" She screamed back as she jumped over a destroyed stand.
"I said that!" He retorted.
She pouted. "No, you did not!" She then touched him "Punishment; be a sacrifice!"
The Silver Samurai began to float "Wait, wait, wait– she's beginning to aim for me!"
He turned towards Uravity who was already running away. He paled. He turned back towards the girl in goggles aiming towards him. She grinned.
Gin-san turned towards the red-head next to her "Welf, don't let me die!"
Welf Crozzo merely turned around and averted his gaze "Sorry, your sacrifice will be worthwhile."
"Oi~! I don't wanna be sacrificed!"
Gaige, seeing his despair, merely smirked "Ima shoot his balls!"
Everyone in the area paused. Even Welf. And especially Gin-san.
Then the sound of despair resonated "NO! NOT MY GOLDEN BALLS! HELP ME! SAVE MY GOLDEN BALLS!"
He turned towards me. "ELF-SAN, SAVE ME!"
I glanced towards the girl who was switching glances between me and the Silver Samurai conspiratively. She smirked.
I turned towards him. I smiled. Hope appeared in his eyes.
"Fuck this shit I'm out."
Despair and betrayal rang in his eyes.
[Farore's Wind]!
"NOOOOOOOOO!"
I escaped out of that hell-hole.
If I was gonna make filler to show how not everything revolves around the MC then I might as well add some spice, I guess?
Also been busy with moving so updates are slower than what I'd like.
