"I promise," She assured him, squeezing his hand before she left the room. As she walked out, she felt a mixture of relief and confusion, her heart pounding from the intensity of the moment.
George watched her leave, then muttered under his breath, "I see the reason why you've had a quick recovery in just a week. You've had great company."
David smiled sheepishly, acknowledging it. "You're right, George."
The next moment, his demeanor shifted back to his authoritative self. "Now, update me on the company."
George nodded, launching into a detailed report. While David listened intently, a part of his mind was still with Carissa, replaying the last moments they shared and wondering about the future.
