Mihran had been planning another dare-devil act. He was going to visit the Kaur around the gate closing time to meet someone. It was late night. Gate closing time was 11 p.m. and he reached the girl around 10:32. You really need guts to take that risk. Around 11 p.m., Maryam's Abba came back home from his circle of friends. Maryam had not slept yet. Abba was extremely furious about something. He had assumed Maryam's Amma would most possibly open the door and he went, 'What's going on out there...? '
Then, he realized it's Maryam and zipped it. She noticed the irritation on his face. She sensed something was wrong for sure.
'What happened, Abba? '
'Where's your Amma? ', he said coldly and went inside. She was quite doubtful now. When Abba left, she opened the door and peeped out secretly to see what had happened. She found nothing. But, when she rotated her head more, she saw two people laughing and disappearing to the other side of her house. Her eyes popped out of sockets. She locked the door and fastly went to the other wall to check through the window. Her house was reared by a boundary wall at a distance. She secretly peeped through the window. She encountered something unexpected. She saw a guy leaning over a girl pinned up the wall! She was shook. She asked herself, 'What's going on in here? '
She saw the guy's backside, but she saw the girl's front. It was none other than- Nazia!
'Oh, my God! This can't be happening. She told me about this, but we don't do it here. You, girl, you can't make love behind my house. They will catch you, then me! ', she exclaimed in shock and anger. She got extremely nervous imagining if her family found out about her friend. She was shivering and stammering, 'God! Save me! Save me! Save her! Save her! Save us! Save us! I pray to you, I'll offer two extra prayers. ', mumbling these words, she phoned Nazia, hoping her phone was on silent because if it wasn't, the whole Kaur would be echoing her phone's tring-tring! She was hoping Nazia would pick up the call. It took a while, but soon, she picked up the call.
'You bloody beast! Get away from my house! Are you nuts, huh? Just get your sucker out of here! Okay? Right now! ', she ordered and cut the call. Nazia did as ordered by her dear friend.
Next day was a holiday. Maryam was still mad at Nazia. She met her with everybody else.
'What are you doing here? ', Maryam asked Nazia in sarcasm and greeted everybody else.
'Hey? Come on! '
'No, I seriously thought you'd be with Mihran behind Rafiya's Or Neda's house today! ', she taunted to which Nazia rolled her eyes.
'Maryam, what's the matter with you? ', Alina asked.
'What she had done is wrong anyways, Alina. ', Noor defended Maryam.
'Girl! If you did that behind my house, I'd kill you, trust me. ', Rafiya expressed.
Now, everybody was standing silently, waiting for Neda's point of view when she was casually hanging herself down the chair, uninterested.
Maryam being irritated, screamed, 'You can also say something, Neda! '
'Oh, yes! Thanks! Ha! So(elongates)... I am not sure who to address. But, um, I can never stand people doing things behind my house. It's a scary feeling when you know that person. But, now(elongates)... like, on the guilty's defence... '
'I'm not guilty! ', Nazia shouted on her defence.
Neda lost hope, and again comforted herself.
'But, you should be! ', Noor shouted.
'She's just like that. It was a mistake. ', defended Alina.
'But, somebody has to tell her that she's not supposed to include us in her stuff. She ought to be careful. ', Rafiya said wisely.
'Stop, you guys! ' Nazia was done.
All of a sudden, Neda jumped on her feet, and everybody went quiet- quiet.
'Can we all just sit and talk like humans? ', Neda said sternly.
Folding her legs in a manly way, she continued, 'So, you were with, again, Mihran last night. But, this time, at a very wrong place. Alright! We salute you for that bravery, though. And you know that we accept you no matter what you do, even behind our houses. We understand your lifestyle, but you need to understand ours... '
'But... ', Nazia tried to explain.
'No, no! You're the most different and of course, the most desperate in our group (chuckles) ... And, can somebody just tell me where the heck is my speech going? '
'You're telling us about her and telling her about us, but we are aware of all of that. So, get to the point, now. ', Noor answered seriously.
'Fine. Let me tell you my point of view. I'm not going to go on and off about her doing like you all... But, yeah! You shouldn't have done that where you did that because anybody, who anybody? Her family itself could've caught you, and then, they were not to ask you, but Maryam about you. That's wild. You know what I mean? '
'Yeah... ', supported Maryam.
'Oh-nah!', addressing Maryam. 'And, now...on Nazia's defence... You people are just attacking her. Stop it. It was a mistake. Get over that, girls. ' 'Nazia and Maryam, say sorry to each other and kiss, I mean, uh, hug! Nothing happened, okay?', Neda ordered.
Both the girls apologized and everything became normal. After formally saying, 'The court's adjurned. ', Neda jumped on the chair back. She mumbled proudly, 'I can be a great judge, though! '
