The night was longer than any other he had before. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't pretend that all was well.

At some point, he resorted to just closing his eyes. Mark had no idea when sleep eventually took over when he heard the sound of his beeping phone.

The sharp shrieking sound was a nuisance that made him groan. He wiped the heavy fog of sleep off his eyes and looked around.
