Childhood Sweethearts

Hyunchan was sad and angry, but mostly sad because other two of her friends didn't ask her to play with them and even said that they can't play with her anymore.

She sat by the grass, watching her mother talking with the aunties on the far park bench, smiling as she talks with her friends.

Her lips pulled thin and tears brims up on her eyes but she tried her best and didn't cried. Her mama don't like it when she cries, she will scold her for it and she doesn'tt like it. She took a breath and sniffs a bit before getting up from the ground and walking towards the sandbox. There was no one so she squats down and started playing with the sand, making little sand dunes by herself with her tiny little hands.

No one played with her that day but it was okay, she was alright with making playing with sands all by herself.

Jaejun or Junjun as she calls her, came and call her out to play the next day.

Hyunchan was happy, Junjun makes her happy. He is the best friend she even had and he never leave her to play with others.

Yeah he is the best!

"How do you play this?" Junjun questions, his brow pinching in as he observes the bottle cap he picked up from the little shoe box where there are lots of different bottle caps of different colours.

"I collected all of them!" Hyunchan excitedly says, picking up a green cap herself, "We can put them above each other together and built a tower! or-or a building!" she exclaimed and claps her hand as she smiles brighter at the boys positive nod of agreement.

"Let's built a tower!" Junjun exclaims excitedly and then they both squealed happily.

Hyunchan dump the caps on the floor and than from there they built a tower as steady as they are capable off.

They played all day and only went down to eat lunch before running back into Hyunchan's room and playing with the caps again till Junjun had to go with his mother who came to pick him up.

It was a week later when the accident happened.

With the start of a new grade and classes, Hyunchan didn't got around to go hand out with her Junjun. It was saturday and it rained heavily. Hyunchan was in her room all day reading her story books. There was a commotion outside on the street but she wasn't allowed to go out. But she watched from the window as people walks straight to the house on the other end, to Junjun's. Was there something happening? she didn't know because Junjun didn't tell her anything about many people going to his house.

A day later, she head her mother talking with a neighbour that how it was unfair that Jaejun died at such a young age. How said the parents are that their youngest child died like this.

Hyunchan didn't understand most of the things the adults were talking about, but she did understood that dying means never coming back. It was sad how she didn't get to met Junjun before he went away for forever. They didn't even got to hug each other and say goodbye.
