"You do have at least one ray of hope."  The man continued.  "With the portal closed and the vast majority of demons in the universe culled, you only have to deal with the ones trapped here.  Here are some things that we know. Firstly, there are large demons that produce the flames the others need to survive.  Since this is not their native universe, they must always be close to that flame or they cease to exist.  Killing one of the larger ones, however, is no easy feat even with an angel by your side.  Secondly, lesser demons can multiply by converting other life forms into themselves.  Finally, the lesser demons can combine and form a large demon."

"Who the fuck am I supposed to beat that?" Leo shouted at the screen.

"I am sure you must be furiously asking questions right now."  The man said.  "However, this is prerecorded so I have no answers for you.  Your angel will explain the rest to you.  Good luck."

"Video concluded." Angel said.  "Displaying objects."  The screen changed again showing a map of the Earth.  Large red X's were placed sporadically on its surface.  "Large demon infestations detected.  eliminate all before corruption spreads."

"Those are all large demons?!"  Leo was in shock. "There has to be hundreds!"

"Six hundred seventy-two."  Angel said.  "Seventy-three now.  Please select destination from objective list."

"You want to go fight now?"  Leo was worried.  "Don't I need to level up and what not.  You don't fight the boss on round one!"

"Recommend allies."  Angel said.  The screens changed again to show the military fighting against the demon hoards.  The bullets were doing little against the threat. The demons advanced on the soldiers regardless of the barrage of gunfire.

"Why are you showing me this?!"  Leo shouted as he watched the horrific scene.  As the demons were about to reach the soldiers, each soldier pulled a grenade from their chest and lobbed them at the impending threat.  Using the explosion as cover the soldiers retreated back to a safer position in order to continue the assault.

"Query received."  Angel said. "This war cannot be won alone.  Allies will be required.  Their tactics are good, their equipment is lacking.  Accessing."  A section of the floor opened and a rack holding guns appeared.  "Take a weapon to them.  If they can recreate them, there is hope."

Leo walked over to the rack and picked up the meanest looking gun he could find.  "Selection confirmed." Angel chimed.  "Are you ready for transport?"

"Ye..." Leo started.

"Transporting." Angel continued.  The same odd sensation struck Leo once more and when the darkness cleared, he was standing behind the soldiers.

"The hell!" One of the soldiers yelled at the sight of someone just appearing in front of them.  "Who the hell are you kid?  You with those damn monsters?  Fuck! As if we didn't have enough to deal with now there's damn teleporting children."

"I am an adult!" Leo protested.  The soldier just crossed his arms and looked down on Leo.  "Anyways." Leo said with a nervous smile. "I am here to help!"

The soldier eyes the gun in Leo's hand.  "A toy gun isn't going to protect you here kid.  Just stay close to us and we will try to keep you alive."

"I am not a fucking kid!" Leo shouted as he pointed his gun at the oncoming demons.  He pulled the trigger and a blast of intense light erupted from the barrel creating a ball of pure plasma. The demon that it hit was incinerated on contact.  Leo's eyes widened in surprise.

"Well I'll be a rat's ass."  The soldier said.  "I am Commander Johnson, I lead this platoon, and you kid, you're my new best friend. You got a name?"

"Leo, is my name sir." He said.  "I came to give you this weapon, normal weapons do not work against the demons."

"Demons huh?"  Johnson said looking around.  "I guess the world really did go to hell." Johnson pointed at the incoming horde.  "Do you mind if I borrow that?"

"No by all means." Leo said as he handed the commander his gun. Johnson then ran to the front lines and rolled over the barricade they had made.  He launched a volley of attacks, not missing a single shot.  After the oncoming demons were defeated Johnson made his way back to where Leo was standing in awe.

"She handles pretty well."  Johnson said rubbing the top of the gun like it was his pet.  His platoon cheered behind him.  "Now that we have a moment to talk, why don't you tell me where you got this weapon?"  Johnson looked at the spear in Leo's hands.  "And that spear.  I assume it is just as spectacular."

"Angel unit only effective with Leo unit."  Angel said.  Her voice was loud enough for Johnson to hear.

Johnson burst into laughter.  "Now there's a talking spear. Alright kid, sorry Leo, why don't we find somewhere to sit down and you can debrief me on the situation."

The two of them found some equipment nearby to sit on.  Leo explained everything he had learned from the video to the commander.  "That about sums it up." Leo said.  "Any questions?"

"So, aliens, huh?"  Johnson smiled.  "Well, even if our ancestors failed, we aren't the type to just roll over and die.  You said the spear told that if we can mass produce the gun there would be hope?  Well let's take it to the lab and find out."

"Critical power levels."  Angel said.  "Please recharge.  Entering sleep mode."  The light emanating from the spear darkened.

"Well that's not good."  Leo sighed.

"So how do you charge an ancient demon killing spear?"  Johnson asked.

"I need to feed it demon blood, by killing a demon with it."  Leo explained.

"There's no shortage of those running around." Johnson teased.  "I'll go with you.  If you get into trouble, I will bail you out."

"Thanks."  Leo said as the pair got up from their seats.

"Men head to the underground lab."  Johnson instructed.  "I have to help our new savior here, but he and I will be there momentarily. Fill the doctors in before we arrive, less explaining for me to do."

All the men saluted and yelled, "Yes sir!"
