The scarlet snake

"W- What is it that I am sensing here? Are the others not sensing it as well?" Raena mumbled as she looked around and the teacher saw that she was not paying attention and he sighed before approaching her and the others looked at her as he tapped her on the shoulder and she glanced at him then sighed as he stared her down.

"Why are you not paying attention? Do you not want to gain a rank?" He asked and she sighed.

"I am sorry, I do and I will pay attention," She responded.

"Good, apology accepted, now listen or you won't be able to pass this course and you will not receive a ranking," He said.

"How should we go about it?" Raena inquired.

"Well, I am going to walk you through this forest, no short cuts because there are dangerous beasts in this area, be clear and no cheating, upon arrival, I will decide what ranking you get based on the methods you used to get past your obstacles and I will be watching you every step of the way, you can take the short cut as well but know it will be harder and if you get severely injured, that's on you and I will take no responsibility, do you understand?" He asked.

[Master, it sounds simple, but it isn't; you sense many dangerous creatures here, and it's obvious that he will also judge by skills as well and timing.]

"I see, then I intend to take the route that will give me a good ranking for a beginner," Raena mumbled as the teacher took a deep breath and released a purple energy within the forest then looked at them with a smirk on his face.

"Now, take out your wings and get going," He said as the others took out their wings and Raena looked at then as they flew off, between the tall trees which were almost in the sky and she smiled.

"What are you waiting for? Are you afraid of this Raena? Go," The teacher said as a gust of wind blew, pushing her off of the hill and she landed on her feet then looked at the forest ahead of her and the teacher disappeared then reappeared on another hill, the one with the shimmering purple light.

"Are there any beasts in the vicinity?" Raena inquired.

[No, there are no visible beasts nearby, at least not yet, master.]

"I see, then I'll get going, because I can't fly like the others, I can't just walk normally here either," She said.

[Be careful, it's better to move at a fast pace, don't move slow but try your best to be careful.]

"Got it," Raena said as she began walking through the forest at a good rate while being careful not to touch anything she wasn't supposed to.

While going through the forest, Raena sensed something big around her and she sighed while looking around but saw nothing.

[Master, you need to look out, there is a giant scarlet whistling snake coming towards you, you should cover your ears.]

"Why should I do that?" She asked.

[These are the abilities of the snake:]

[Disorienting screams, shaking scales and earthly rupture.]

"I see, so you want me to cover my ears because of the screams, can't I just avoid it?" She asked.

"Nope, there is no avoiding it, once it catches onto your scent, it won't stop until it gets its target, but your fire chains will be enough to rip it apart, but you have to be careful, attack it from a blind spot which is behind it, do you understand?]

"I understand, thank you for telling me this," She responded.

[I am just doing my duty.]

Raena smiled, then looked around before taking a deep breath while hiding behind a tree, awaiting its arrival.

'I wonder if I will be able to kill this thing, so far I see no sign of it,' Raena thought before sighing when she heard crashes between the trees and her eyes narrowed when she started hearing a screeching sound and she covered her ears, knowing that it was the snake and finally, it came into sigh as as it roared, it released a screeching echo that drove the animals nearby away and Raena sighed.

'It really is dangerous,' Raena thought while looking at it as it slithered around, sniffing.

The creature was big, scarlet, had piercing scarlet and purple eyes with hard scales and was very long.

Raena's eyes widened as the snake rose to look in the tree branches in search of its newfound prey, her.

[Be careful, it's hunting you and when they hunt, all of their senses are awake.]

Raena heeded her system's warning and was about to move when she felt the earth rumbling and she saw the same digging into the earth, using its hard scales and she jumped up in the air as it rose up before her and roared, releasing the same screeching disorienting scream and Raena gnashed her teeth, trying her best to block it out as she landed in one of the tall tree branches and the snake stopped roaring and looked at her with its eyes glowing bright red.

'I hate this,' She said as the scales on its body began moving as it closed its eyes and that was when she decided to move.

Raena gently jumped off of the tree and landed on her toe and before the snake could open its eyes and see her, she hid behind another tree as fast as she could and when she heard the sound of moving scales coming from the snake's body, she knew that it was ready to attack and she had no intention of letting it win.

'All right, like I was advised, attack it from its blind spot, that's not going to be easy since it can easily detect people, but I might as well do it before I become lunch for a snake, damn it, I have to get this over with or I will fall behind,' Raena thought as her eyes began glowing orange while she looked at the snake and small flames began forming around her fingertips.
