Chapter 6: Adventures at Pentos (4)

It was simple. The opponent was a weak kid. It's just one person, it didn't even work. We had multiple armed men who were Unsullied. There was no way we could've lost. No, it was impossible. It should've been..'

'I'm.. I'm going to die. At this rate, I'll die… N-no.. I don't want to die. I'll die. I don't want to die. I'll die. I don't want to die!'

The man's identity was Illyrio Mopatis. One of the magisters of Pentos and leader of his criminal empire Coin of Pentos. When he gave orders to deal with Shireen, he never expected such a situation. The opponent is a weak kid that is infected by greyscale. Mopatis decided that it would be enough to deal with it quickly and fled Pentos together with the exiled Targaryen to avoid the vengeance from King Robert should he kill Shireen, but still he couldn't believe what happened after that.

When Shireen has arrived at his manse. That's when the massacre began. Dozens of Illyrio's personal Unsullied rushed, Shireen didn't back down, and when the spear flashed, the Unsullied fell down with blood. What an overwhelming sight. Illyrio's eyes twitched. The boundaries of common sense have crumbled.

'Is this really Shireen Baratheon? House Baratheon of the Stannis line has a… secret weapon… a demon.' Illyrio couldn't believe it even when he saw it in person.

Criminal gangs, pirates, sellswords, mercenaries, hell even the nobles of both Westeros and Essos, all of them know that information is life, and that's why Shireen is seen as pathetic, liability and insignificant.

If Shireen had been such a great person regardless if she was a kid with talents in swordfighting and sorcery, he wouldn't have even dared. But the reality was different. Unlike the usual Shireen, Illyrio Mopatis was terrified.

'You have to run away.' But the judgment was late. From the moment he made his face to deal with Shireen, his options were limited. As a result, Illyrio Mopatis was like this. He couldn't come to his senses from the tingling pain, and he couldn't even see the blood dripping from his forehead.

'If you do this, I will die.' It was instinct. So Illyrio prayed to R'hllor, Lord of Light.

Shireen dropped him to the ground, then Illyrio proceeded to weakly grab Shireen's right leg and wept.

"Please spare me." Illyrio coughs blood. "...P-please… s-spare my life…! Please…!" Illyrio paused for a moment to take a breath. "If… if you let me live, I'll do anything, my lady! I'll become a dog and serve you for the rest of my life! Please have mercy!"

People's opinions didn't matter for Shireen. She struggled to live in her original world and laid down everything she had to live. The weak and the cowardice have no place in Shireen's standards.

"You'll become my dog? You should have said that before you bare your fangs towards me." Shireen stomped the fat magister's head.

"This man is one of your leaders, Illyrio Mopatis." There was a shock among the people who were watching this and people were agitated that Shireen had beaten up a magister. She should be arrested, they thought.

"And leader of the Coin of Pentos, a known criminal organization here in Essos. You all probably know how much of a scumbag he is. They even reached the shores of Westeros and harmed Dragonstone. They used dirty methods to trick people, and even tried to kill me for stopping them. The crimes of Illyrio Mopatis and his organization are clear. And thus, in front of you all, I'll rip out the evil within them."

Thus, Shireen began to stomp Illyrio's head all over again until the fat magister's head was destroyed, and even his face was barely recognizable. The blood pours down to the ground like a fountain. People held their breath. It was really a terrifying and brutal sight to see, especially that Shireen's appearance is mostly covered with blood, either from Illyrio's or the men she killed earlier. Even in a world where death is commonplace, what the people are witnessing now is literally shocking.

"My lady!" yelled Ser Axell. This is where Shireen stops stomping on Illyrio's head or what's left of it.

And then Ser Axell, Ser Davos, the Baratheon knights, and the Pentoshi city watchmen watched in horror with a frightening face when Shireen, covered with blood, stared at their very souls. Though, they arrived at the scene so late.

-

The news that the soldier delivered to the Prince of Pentos was truly shocking.

"Is that really true?"

"Yes, my prince. We've allowed Shireen Baratheon to enter the inner city due to her being the niece of the King of the Seven Kingdoms. But after about an hour, Shireen appeared at the plaza dragging a man. And after stating that the leader of the Coin of Pentos is…" there was a bit of hesitation on the soldier, "Illyrio Mopatis, she executed him in front of the people."

"What?! Illyrio Mopatis?!"

"Does the Westerosi girl have evidence that Illyrio is a criminal lord?!"

"I wouldn't be surprised if Illyrio was the leader of the Coin of Pentos. He's too shady for me."

"What's important is that she punished… no…murdered someone without the Prince's permission. It's a matter that can't be ignored."

'Permission? A problem of before and after? No, that's not what's important. This Shireen Baratheon took care of Coin of Pentos? Let alone discarding my political rival? I might have potential… future ally in Westeros after all.' The Prince of Pentos thought.

"Summon Shireen Baratheon immediately. And I'll hear about it from her myself." The Prince said sternly.

It wasn't long before Shireen was brought in. Pentoshi city watchmen were securing Shireen's people, so she showed up in the office as soon as she was called. And it seems that Shireen was not alone. With Ser Axell Florent on her left and Ser Davos Seaworth on her right, the Prince of Pentos showed a sign of disappointment.

There was a bit of murmur among the magisters. A child? A girl swiftly dealt the Coin of Pentos? It was impossible if you look at it from a logical perspective.

'This case was not a problem to be solved by an individual. Judging by the fact that the castellan of Dragonstone followed, it seemed that the Coin of Pentos was dealt with with their help. I'm glad they took care of my political rival.'

"Shireen Baratheon. Greetings, Prince of Pentos."

"Forget about all of that and get to the point. Why did you come all the way from Dragonstone to Pentos to do something as violent as that?"

"It all started a few days ago. The Coin of Pentos was assaulting an innocent citizen back at my home, and I executed them at the same place. So I decided that I couldn't leave them be, and I went to their main base which is the late Illyrio's manse and killed their leader. That's the summary of the case." Shireen slightly bowed before the Prince.

"What I want to ask of you is your authority. You don't have the authority to execute someone in Pentos especially if you're not from this place. You are a Westerosi, lady Shireen." The Prince replied coldly.

It was just a cause, and even Shireen had no intention of crossing the line. Even finding out about the Coin of Pentos, until she confirms one fact.

"I am aware of that, but I was skeptical as to whether Pentos would take proper care of the Coin of Pentos. The leader of the Coin of Pentos was a magister, it is known. He's popular in Pentos for the continuing slave trade and sheltering my uncle King Robert's enemies. So that's why I took care of him myself this time. Because I decided that I can't trust the Prince of Pentos."

"How dare you!" yelled one of the magisters.

"My lady!" Ser Axell Florent was shocked at Shireen's remarks in front of the Prince of Pentos.

"Honestly I am a bit disappointed. I thought you would praise me instead. Since I had to get blood on my hands because of a problem that Pentos was ignoring which has reached the Seven Kingdoms." Shireen sarcastically shrugs.

Then Shireen looked at the prince in the eye.

"Let me ask you, Prince of Pentos." Shireen paused for a moment, "Did I really do something wrong?" she asked the Prince with a curious tone.

"Did you know about Illyrio Mopatis?" the Prince asked one of the magisters.

"He's quite a slaver, my Prince, but… I didn't know he's their leader." the magister replied.

"...Alright, fine. We will no longer discuss this case. Since it wouldn't have happened to begin with had Pentos taken better care of it." The Prince said as he eyed Shireen from head to toe. To think that he would gain respect for a child.

"I'll reward you later on. You can leave for now." the Prince dismissed them.

"Understood." Shireen, Ser Axell, and Ser Davos replied in unison.

Shireen bowed her head before the prince. Ser Axell and Ser Davos, who had seemed to be walking on thin ice until just now, hurriedly followed Shireen and left the office.

The moment they left the office and the door closed, the Prince began to laugh.

"My prince?" the magister was a bit scared from the sudden laugh from the Prince.

"KWAHAHAHAHA!"

"She really got me. It's the first time in my entire life that I actually got nervous from a child. And oh! She got rid of my political rival. Finally." The Prince stopped laughing though he was in a good mood, "So that is Shireen Baratheon?" A smile bloomed across the Prince's face.

Looking at Shireen's dignified attitude, the Prince of Pentos evaluated her from the point of view as a potential ally and probably the most dangerous player in the Game if ever she sets her eyes on the Iron Throne in the future.

The Baratheon knights were heading back to the docks to set sail for Dragonstone. At first, the Baratheon knights were surprised that Shireen can ride a horse and she's currently at the front though that is no longer the case. From what they have seen from Shireen earlier, it's obvious that she has changed.

"My lady, did you really have to taunt the Prince? We may have gotten with it, but if he got angry…"

"Pentos aren't taking responsibility for what happened. All I did was show them that it's because of their carelessness." Shireen replied though her emotions were dead as hell.

'Just what happened? This person who's in front of me is not the Shireen Baratheon I knew!' Ser Axell thought.

"By the way, I met Daenerys Targaryen earlier before I faced Illyrio's Unsullied at his manse." Shireen broke the silence.

"You what?! And you also faced the Unsullied?!" Sir Axell said in a surprise.

"The Unsullied may be an elite warrior but they die, Ser Axell. Anyway back on our topic, it seems that Illyrio Mopatis was indeed sheltering the exiled dragons. Didn't see her brother, only her handmaiden."

"Then we must report the location to King Robert immediately!"

"It's no use, Ser Axell. By the time the royal agents are here, they are already long gone in Pentos." Shireen continued, "Plus, the Targaryens are no longer a threat. Why does uncle… His Grace so obsessed with finding these people? It's a waste of resources." Shireen shook her head.

Unbeknownst to the company, Shireen somewhat beat up Daenerys and taunts her that House Targaryen is all over, not knowing that Shireen is one of the major reasons why Daenerys will become what she becomes in the later seasons of the TV show. Shireen made a mark on Daenerys. Shireen also hid the scaled egg she got earlier on a chest she bought back in the inner city. Shireen is well aware that the egg is alive though she doesn't know what animal it would be once it's hatched.
