Chapter 11 – Mom, I swear by God, I was not lying

Li Yu was currently feeling embarrassed and scared by the emotionless look his mother was giving him.

After Li Yu dragged his mother inside from amidst the crowd outside, she had giving him an expressionless look.

She looked like someone who had millions of words she wanted to say but does not know where to begin.

"Mother, you can ask all you want to ask." Li Yu said quietly while looking down in embarrassment.

My Mother is definitely scared by where I found the huge amount of money from.

"Please tell me that money you're holding isn't from an illegal source."

That's the only thing Mu Shi could let out from the millions of thoughts running through her mind.

The emotionless look changed into a pleading one.

"Please son, tell me that money isn't from an illegal source." Mu Shi pleaded again.

"Hai mom, don't you trust your son, how would I dare own illegal money?

Li Yu Joked but scratched his head in embarrassment when he saw his mother not finding his joke funny at all.

"Mum… I worked hard for that money you know?"

"Don't speak that nonsense with me. Where would you, a 16 years old boy find work that would pay you that huge amount of money?!"

Mu Shi was becoming really mad and scared at the same time. She could not understand how the son she had left home for work suddenly come out and tell her he earned money a lot of money due to hard work?!

"Mom... But what I said is the truth, you know?"

"You- you, you still dared give me that silly excuse. Okay, whatever. Let's say I believe in your excuse, now, now tell me which work is it you did that earned you that huge amount of money."

Li Yu immediately felt lost when he heard what his mother said. He did not know if he should be opened up and tell her the truth or should lie.

Looking at the expectation, scared and pleading look on his mother's face, Li Yu sighed helplessly.

"Mom, did you remember I suddenly fell unconscious yesterday?"

"Yes, why would I forget, and how does falling unconscious have anything to do with the matter at hand? Don't tell me you have intentions of changing the topic at hand?!"

Mu Shi began to flame up.

"Calm down mum!! I wasn't trying to change the topic, and yes I being unconscious has a lot to do with the matter at hand."

Li Yu shook his head helplessly. This is one of the things Li Yu loved about his mother, she would never get greedy or lost due to material things. She would rather suffer shelter and hunger than allow her loved ones to do things that would cause them harm or bad karma.

"Oh, is that truth?!"

Mu Shi looked at Li Yu curiously.

"Mom. To tell you the truth, I suddenly awaken some strange memories while I and Huizhong were going for launch yesterday which made me unconscious."

"Hun, wait, wait. So you're telling me that the reason why you were unconscious yesterday was due to your awakening some strange memories. Quickly, tell me now."

Mu Shi felt disbelief and something else when she heard her son.

"Hold on mum!!! I will tell you everything "

Li Yu sighed helplessly.

"Okay, okay I'm listening."

Mu Shi smiled in embarrassment when she realized she was being too enthusiastic.

"Mom, the real truth was that yesterday, I awoke a really strange memory that has to do with betting."

Li Yu immediately closed his eyes after he uttered the statement in a single sentence.

And as he expected.

"WHAT!!! YOU- YOU CHILD, ARE YOU TELLING ME YOU GAINED MEMORIES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH BETTING? HOW DARE YOU CHILD LIE TO ME? SO WHAT YOU MEANT WAS THAT THE MONEY I SAW WITH YOU WAS A MONEY YOU won FROM A BET."

Mu Shi was so mad at this son of hers at the moment as she never expected him to ever think of anything like betting.

"Mum, calm down please, I wouldn't dare lie to you."

"What do you mean you wouldn't dare lie to me, isn't that what you are doing now?"

"Mom, I swear to God, I was not lying."

"Hun, look at you. You have even grown up enough now to dare swear around your mom now, hun?!"

"Mum, please. I only said that so that you would believe in me."

"Mum, do you know, I just won ten thousand plus dollars with just 2 cents? Is there any other explanation for it? No ma, it was because I now know everything and anything that has to do with bets and gambling."

Li Yu was trying to make his mum believe what he was saying now.

Mu Shi smiled and continued.

"When I was at the noodles store today, a monk came to me and said he was hungry, so I cooked noodles for him.

After the monk was done eating and ready to leave, he suddenly told me;

The monk immediately left after saying that even though I tried calling him back."

Mu Shi finished her words with a big smile on her face.

Li Yu was dumbfounded for a long time after hearing such a funny sentence before he reacted.

"This is not how it should end," Li Yu thought with a start.

"Shouldn't mother get mad at me for a long time while I try changing her mind?!"

"Mom, so- so you believe in me?!"

Li Yu asked after a long while of silence.

"Yes son, I certainly do believe you, and I can promise you that I would never be against you using your gift. The only advice I would give you is that you are to use this gift given to you by heaven wisely."

Li Yu was excited now by how everything worked out. He had made up his mind to face anything has it come when he thought of saying the truth.

"Thanks, mom, thanks for believing in me."

"Don't thank me, son, let's thank heaven for giving us, you in particular a life-changing gift.

Li Yu sighed in deep wonder.

Was heaven trying to tell him indirectly that he can use his gift freely without any fear now?!

Mu Shi tried pushing back the money to Li Yu, but Li Yu refused to collect it.

"Mom, don't be like this now, you are my mom, so everything that is yours is also mine, if you and dad start a business, I know that it is also mine at the end of the day."

Mu Shi continued to reject it, so Li Yu began to reason with his mother and change her mind for a long time.

Li Yu suddenly looked up and saw teardrops had begun to fall from his mother's eyes.

This scared the shit out of Li Yu. He thought he had said something that angered his mother and made her sad.

"Mom, please do not cry again, I know I was wrong, I….."

"Son, son. I wasn't crying out of anger, I was only crying out of joy. I've never thought in my entire life that I would have a great son who would….."

Mu Shi couldn't finish her words before tears started gushing out of her eyes again.

Since his mother had explained that she was crying tears of joy, Li Yu no longer felt scared.

He hugged his mom tightly and began to speak in a soft voice as if speaking to a kid.

"Mom, don't worry. This is just the tip of an iceberg, I would do more in the future."

After all the drama, Li Yu and his mother began to discuss things, what business she would do with the money, and so on.

They both forgot the time and discussed until Li Yu's stomach began to rumble and make a loud noise.

"Hahaha…" Mu Shi mocked her son loudly and entered the kitchen to prepare a sumptuous meal for him, not managing anything in the least.

Mu Shi wanted to go to the market to buy fresh things to prepare, but Li Yu told her not to bother as it was already late in the night.

"Son, go rest earlier. You still need to go to school tomorrow."

Mu Shi told Li Yu after he had finished his dinner.

"Okay ma, goodnight."

"goodnight son, sleep tight."

Mu Shi tried returning half of the money to Li Yu, but he refused. It's only after much talk, anger, and explanations that Li Yu finally collected $1,000 out of the money.

Mu Shi looked at his son lovingly as he went to his room.

A drop of tear fell from her eyes again.

"Don't worry son, I and your father would help you turn your money into a huge business that you will be able to take over anytime you want." She thought happily.

Mu Shi also rushed to her room and picked up a pen and paper. She began to write a letter to Li Yu's father, explaining things to him and telling him to come back home quickly.
