Luckily, Marj had missed everything.

Downstairs, Hal told a worried Lewis, “They’re just playing. I think you and I should stay here in the den for a while. Let’s get some cookies, all right?”
And that’s what they did, sitting on the sofa in the darkened room and eating cookies, even though the rest of the lights in the house had come back on.
Some things could be kept hidden from parents; a clogged toilet and two cats could not. It was a good thing Hal enjoyed his last drink and his grandson falling asleep alongside him in the peace of the waning storm, because these other annoyances were soon brought to his attention.
