39. RUMORS; MORE PROBLEMS 1

Mary was discharged from the hospital in the evening, The doctor had told them that there wasn't any need for her to stay for long or stayed till the next day because of an injury.

Raymond took them home and was asked to stay for dinner, "Okay, Ma'am." They settled inside.

Jude went to pick Cammy up from school and stayed with her, Yvonne went home earlier in the evening, to prepare dinner before coming back to the hospital.

"Mommy!!!" Cammy ran to hug Mary. "Vonny, I miss you." She hugged Yvonne.

"I miss you too, Cammy." Yvonne ruffled her hair, making her groan.

Cammy looked behind Yvonne to the person standing, "Where's Justin?"

Yvonne tapped her, giving her a scolding look, "That's rude, Cam. You should greet him first or have you seen him before?"

Cammy was sad as Yvonne scolded her, "I haven't. I'm sorry." Her eyes watered.

Raymond carried her in his arms, patting her back in a calm manner, "Don't scold her like that. She's just asking of her friend and a known face." Cammy buried her face in Raymond's neck, sobbing inaudibly.

"But..."

"She had expected him to be here instead." Cammy nodded at what he said and held onto him. Yvonne opened her mouth to talk but he gave her a "Don't think of arguing with me." look.

Yvonne sighed, "I'm sorry, Cammy." Touching her back to apologize.

"I'm also sorry for not greeting him earlier." She held Raymond tight.

"It's okay. He's angry at me for scolding you so I'm the wrong one here."

"Thanks." Cammy whispered into his ear, "Put me down." Raymond dropped her on the floor and bent down to her height.

"Am Raymond." He smiled at her, stretching his hand out for a handshake.

Cammy ran behind Yvonne, blushing, "I'm Camila but my friends call me, Cammy."

Raymond looked at Yvonne, confused, "She's shy." Yvonne mouthed, "Ya too handsome for her eyes." She winked at him.

"Oh..." Raymond smiled. "Babe, can I call you Cammy? I want to be your friend."

Cammy hides her face in between Yvonne's legs, giggling. "You've worsened the matter by calling her babe," Mary said from behind.

"Who's hungry?" Yvonne shouted. Cammy ran to the dining as fast as her small legs could carry her, trying to avoid Raymond. They laughed at her behavior.

They settled down to eat, talking from time to time as they eat. After eating, Mary stood, saying she was tired and would want to rest.

Yvonne helped her up the stairs and laid her down to sleep, "Mom, are you that tired or sleepy as you claim?"

"Nope. You want to tell me something?" She sat up on the bed, resting her back on the headboard.

"It's about your conversation with an unknown person in the hospital earlier today."

"Oh... Forget about that Yvonne." Mary looked away from her.

Yvonne watched Mary, "Why can't you tell me? You told the person on the phone that it was the same car you saw 5 years ago, what car?"

"I'm not telling you anything and why would you eavesdrop on my conversation with someone?"

"I came back to talk to you when I heard so I stayed to hear it all," Yvonne sighed. "Why can't you tell me, Mom?"

Mary affectionately touched her cheeks, "I'm protecting you by not telling you. If I tell you, you would make a rash decision."

"Can't you tell me what it is all about? Like the main topic?" Yvonne pleaded.

"If I tell, promise me there won't be any other questions." Stretching her palm to Yvonne.

Yvonne nodded, covering Mary's palm with hers, "I promise."

"Your Dad's death." Mary turned away from her.

Yvonne stood up in shock, "Dad? What does his death have to do with what happened today?" Mary ignored her, "Mom, talk to me."

"Yvonne, please let me rest. I have had enough for today." Mary pleaded.

"Oh... You said the person isn't aware you know about them or they won't have used the same car, meaning today's accident wasn't just a coincidence."

Mary turned to look at her with tears in her eyes, "You are smart enough to figure it out but if you know all, you would decide too quickly and hurt yourself. Promise me, you won't do anything."

Yvonne shook her head negatively, "No, no. I can't promise you, Mom."

"Swear on my life." Mary placed Yvonne's hand on her head, "Swear... I can't lose you as I lost him, understand me."

"I won't do anything rash." She hugged Mary, "You have my word." She whispered.

"Goodnight." Yvonne covered her properly. "You made me promise to not do anything but I did not promise to not investigate." She left the room.

Mary sighed, "Lord, help me. I don't want to lose her."

Raymond and Cammy were playing while Jude was busy with his Laptop when she entered the sitting room, Jude sighted her first before Raymond did.

"Cammy, it's late and you would wake early for school tomorrow. Let's go to sleep." Jude carried Cammy in his arms out, sensing the tension around Yvonne.

Yvonne ran to hug Raymond before he could move from where he stood, "Mond..."

"Calm down, Kitten. Relax." He patted her back, as soon as she was relaxed, he helped her to the nearest chair. "Tell me about it."

Yvonne told him from the beginning to the end about her and Mary's conversation. "The person had planned to kill my mom. If she hadn't jumped out of the way..."

"You want us to investigate?"

"I want to investigate on my own and not with you. If by chance anything happens then it would be only to me and not you."

"You want me to sit comfortably and watch you investigate on your own? Impossible."

She moved away from him, "What if something happens to you instead? I won't be able to bear it, knowing it's my fault."

He pulled her to his lap, "Let's forget about anything happening to anyone, okay?"

"Yeah. You can't go home by this time, it's late."

"Where would I sleep?" He winked.

Yvonne went up the stairs, blushing, "My room." She ran to her room. Raymond laughed, "Cammy got that from her, no doubts." He ran up, he saw a door opened ajar and went toward it.

"Kitten?" He called, checking around for her.

She shouted from the restroom, "I'm coming."

He went to the restroom and opened the door, Yvonne stood by the basin, brushing her teeth. "Which brush would I use?" Looking around.

"I have a new one, here." She pointed at the one beside hers. "You can use it."

"I don't want that." He picked up her brush, "I'll use yours."

Yvonne blushed and left, she arranged and set the bed. He came out after, pulled off his clothes, and laid on the bed with his singlet and boxers. They slept off.

The following morning, Yvonne woke up before him, she prepared herself for work before waking him up, "Mond, we are late for work."

"Hmmm." He pulled her to the bed. "Can't we pretend it's weekend?" Laying his head on her stomach.

"I've dressed for work already, stand up let's go." Struggling to get up.

Suddenly, he pulled her on top of him to straddle him, "I can pull them off for you." Holding her waist.

She bent toward his lips, "If you get up right now, I would allow office romance."

"I love this view more than ever." She looked down to see what he was looking at. Her top had a low V cut in front and bending to kiss him got her cleavages on display.

"You are a pervert." She got down from the bed, glaring at him.

He winked, "Your pervert, Kitten." Going to the direction of the bathroom, "I'll bath then we would go over to my house to change."

She nodded, "Okay. I would be downstairs." She took her phone, purse, and bag before her room.

She met Mary, Jude, and Cammy at the dining, eating. "Good morning."

"Morning dear," Jude replied while Mary nodded to acknowledge it.

"Morning sis." Cammy smiled at her. "What of Mond?"

"Don't call him Mond. Call him any other name." Yvonne frowned.

Cammy frowns at her, "No. I called him that name first." Pouting.

"..." Yvonne eyed her, playfully.

"Babe, you can call me whatever you want." Raymond suddenly said from behind and they turned to look at him. He gave Cammy a wink as he met her eyes, making her blush.

"But..." Yvonne wanted to protest.

Raymond gave her a "No talking look" and turned to Cammy, "Don't mind your sis." He pecked her on the forehead before sitting.

After eating, Raymond and Yvonne left for his house before going to the company, Yvonne would stop some miles or a street away from the company to avoid unwanted rumors.

On entering her office, she met Justin waiting for her, "Hey princess." He stood up on seeing her.

"What are you doing here?" Yvonne stood by the door, looking at him with a blank expression.

He looked down in shame, "I'm..."

Raymond rushed inside before Justin could complete his sentence, "Kitten..." He accessed Yvonne for any injury, satisfied, he turned to Justin, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm sorry for how I behaved the other day. I wasn't on my best behavior." He hung his head in shame.

"It's okay." Yvonne sighed, seeing the sincerity in him. "You're forgiven."

Raymond moved closer to Justin, "You're not..." Yvonne held him aside, he was looking at Justin like a predator ready to bounce on his prey.

"Mond... Look at me." She placed her palms on his cheeks, turning his face in her direction. "Nothing would happen to me as long as you are here."

He rested his forehead against hers, "I'll leave the door open a bit so you can run out of here if he tries anything inappropriate or anything you don't like." Yvonne nodded.

Justin stood on the spot, watching them, trying to understand what was going on. "She couldn't have fallen for him within these few days except she knows him before." He thought.

Raymond pecked her forehead, turned to glare at Justin, and left. He did as he had told Yvonne, leaving the door open a bit.

"He's quite protective of you more than an employer would to his employee." Justin watched her reaction, waiting for her explanation.

"Well... You are imagining things."

"You know what I'm talking about. Don't worry, I won't kiss and tell." He held his mouth together and acted like he was zipping it.

She laughed, "We were together for some years, got separated for 5 years, and now... We are still in love but things are complicated."

"I love you, princess." Justin moved closer to hold her hand.

She gently removed her hand from his, "You were the only guy that treated me the way he had then."

"And you fell for him." She nodded. "Then why didn't you fall for me?"

"I thought I had also fallen for you too but he's coming back made me realize it wasn't what I thought. I'm sorry, Justin."

He forced a smile, "It's okay. Maybe if I hadn't f**ked up that night, it would have been different."

"It's not about what happened that night." She shook her head, "I wasn't in love with you before or now."

He sighed in defeat, "I understand. Just keep it in mind that if he ever misbehaves or treats you less, I'll be around to..."

"You'll be around to... I'm not thinking of misbehaving or treating her less anytime soon, Just." Raymond said from behind them.

"So you've been standing outside the whole time." Raymond nodded. "So after the soon, you would misbehave?" Yvonne teased, making Justin laugh.

Raymond went over to her and pulled her for a kiss, "There's nothing like soon, Kitten."

"Whoa... I'm still getting over her, Ray." Justin left, leaving Yvonne and Raymond behind, still kissing.

A week to the wedding, Raymond had settled down to start his work for the day when Clara rushed into his office, "Sir." She shouted.

He stood and ran to meet her halfway, "What's wrong, Clara?"

Clara gave him the newspaper, she was holding in her hands for him to see for himself, "WHAT!!!" He yelled in anger, squeezing the newspaper in a tight grip.
