CHAPTER 12: Dead Or Not?

As I hung up, Mat held both edges of my shoulders.

"Babe, What's going on? Are you okay?" He asked

I turned around slowly to face Mat. My hands are shaking and my eyes are about to cry because of fear.

" M...Mat, Vinz is alive" I mumbled in fear.

I was worried that the same thing might happen again.

"So he thought that his son Vinz was the one who got shot from the warehouse?" Mat asked hesitantly.

" Yes, you're right.That's he's more beloved than Vinz." Dad replied

"Mike's childhood friend Emily is dating Vinz." Mat said.

"What!? I see, but can you do me a favor Mat?" Dad asked

" Please tell Mr. Davis, how can I help?" Mat replied

Mat was about to cry because of the joy that he felt, but he composed himself. For him, it is a sign that my dad totally trusts him. I went downstairs to check on them and they were totally having a serious conversation.

" Bradley thought that his son Merick was dead at a car explosion. But he's not, he's the one who kidnapped you Mike and it's not Vinz." Dad explained

"Well I'm not surprised he's doing that, he's really a psychopath. His a rebel and wanted to take over his father's position by making a scheme. That's why he changed his name to Vortex." Charlie uttered in a serious tone.

" But he's dead now right!? I asked, just to make sure that the psycho was really dead.

"Yes he's the one I shot at the warehouse." Charlie replied.

Dad's eyes looked so worried that he drank his last glass of bourbon.

"Dad is there something wrong?" I asked

" I'm just worried about you, your mom and your friends. I know Bradley, he does anything to get what he wants." He replied.

"Don't worry dad I'll be more careful now, and I'll warn my friends that they must be cautious about their surroundings." I replied with confidence.

Mat held my right hand and he looked at me gently .

" Don't worry Mr. Davis, I..I mean dad" I'll always be on Mike's side." Mat uttered.

" I'm gonna alert some of my spies to look out for you two while you're at the university or somewhere." Dad replied.

"Thank you dad." I replied

" I'll help too, I won't stop until this bastard will be dead!" Charlie exclaimed.

" Yes, I'll tell you all about what we had discussed today." Mat uttered

"Thank you Mat." Dad said.

We ended our conversation with a glass of bourbon that day and everyone was drunk.

The light of dawn seeped into the room. I rubbed my bleary eyes and walked to the window. There was a pearly glow in the sky. I turned around then I saw Mat sleeping soundly with his hot and naked body covered with an expensive scarlet silk blanket. I brushed my fingers on his spine as he slowly opened his eyes. It was the first thing he saw.

They fled after the police arrived. We saw our university Mr. Devolt talking to one of the policemen.

We approached Mr. Devolt and he's looking nervous while he's talking about the incident.

" So what exactly happened!?" The policeman asked

Mr. Devolt looked at us while he was looking nervous.
