"Stupefy!"
Harry shouted loudly, pointing his wand at the enormous spider.
The spell hit the spider's massive, dark, hairy body, but it seemed to have as much effect as throwing a stone at it.
The spider twitched briefly and continued to charge towards Harry with frightening speed.
"Stupefy! Impedimenta! Stupefy!"
It was no use—perhaps the spider was too large or its magical resistance too strong.
The spells seemed to only infuriate it further.
Harry saw with dread its eight shining black eyes and sharp pincers as the spider lunged at him.
The spider lifted its front legs, poised to strike down at him, and Harry struggled desperately.
He attempted to kick it with his legs, but hitting its pincers caused an excruciating pain.
In desperation, Harry raised his wand high and yelled, "Expelliarmus!"
It had some effect—this disarming spell caused the spider to release him, but it also meant Harry fell from a height of three meters.
His injured leg couldn't bear his weight, and he collapsed immediately.
Without thinking, he aimed his wand at the spider's abdomen, similar to how he dealt with Blast-Ended Skrewts, and shouted, "Stupefy!"
Unfortunately, the spell only made the spider stagger back a few steps.
Its weak spots weren't as obvious as those of a Blast-Ended Skrewt.
Next, Harry noticed the spider aiming its lower abdomen at him.
It was then he saw the terrifying small mouths opening and closing, as if ready to consume something.
Harry guessed it must be some kind of silk-spitting apparatus for the spider, but if so, the silk it spat out was definitely thicker.
Then everything went black before him, feeling himself engulfed in something sticky.
It was the spider's sticky spray.
Due to its size, the spider's spray didn't solidify immediately like a normal spider's silk would, acting more like a high-pressure water gun filled with super glue, spraying several meters and encasing its prey before solidifying within seconds.
When Moody arrived at the scene, he was greeted with this sight: a giant spider crouching over a white cocoon, about the size of a person, as if savoring its victory.
The white cocoon seemed to be writhing like a bunch of white maggots, indicating it contained something alive.
Without a doubt, the person inside the cocoon was Harry.
In fact, for the safety of the champions, when designing this spider boss, Alaric had instructed it to only immobilize its targets with silk threads, not kill them.
Additionally, the spider's venom sacs had been modified from lethal poison to paralysis toxin.
However, Fake Moody's goal was not to save Harry's life.
He didn't care at all about Harry's life; in fact, he wished him dead.
His objective was to ensure Harry Potter used the Triwizard Cup as a portkey to reach his pre-set destination.
Reluctantly, he had to engage in a fierce battle with the spider boss.
As soon as they clashed, Fake Moody understood the difficulty of Alaric's so-called final boss.
This spider had formidable magical resistance; even the Dark Magic he used only managed to injure it—to an ordinary wizard, this would be lethal.
Moreover, despite its huge size, the spider was remarkably agile.
Its eight legs not only gave it excellent jumping ability but also meant Fake Moody couldn't fully leverage his advantage of being smaller and more agile.
Furthermore, the spider's sticky spray—not silk—was also a major nuisance.
Its adhesion and post-solidification strength were so high that once caught, he couldn't escape.
Fire spells were completely ineffective against it, and as for the Severing Charm... Fake Moody didn't fancy his chances.
This forced him to continuously use magic learned from the Dark Lord, transforming into black smoke, to avoid being directly controlled by the spider.
Whether caught by its claws or stuck in its sticky spray, it was lethal for Fake Moody because once ensnared, he wouldn't have another chance to fight back.
The glue-like substance and paralysis toxin would render him unable to use magic.
That meant not only would he be sent to Azkaban, but also his master—the Dark Lord's resurrection plan would be thwarted again, delaying the Dark Lord's return.
Thinking of this, Fake Moody immediately risked everything.
Under the spider's continuous attacks, he dodged around like a clown, appearing in dire straits, while continually using magic to attack the spider's leg joints, trying to immobilize the giant creature.
His strategy was correct.
Although Fake Moody's Dark Magic couldn't kill the giant spider in one blow or even inflict significant wounds, it was sufficient to disable its leg joints.
Finally, after hitting the same leg joint with two or three Severing Charms, the leg broke off, reducing the spider's mobility slightly.
However, since the spider had eight legs, losing one didn't weaken it much; instead, it enraged the spider further.
Soon after, under the spider's furious onslaught, Fake Moody found himself even more battered.
After considerable effort, he managed to reduce the spider's legs to six...
...then five. Now, the spider had lost its jumping ability.
With only four legs left, the spider's crawling speed slowed down.
With three legs, the spider could barely move and could only rotate in place.
With two legs, the spider became a sitting duck...
Finally, Moody cast his last Disintegration Curse, smashing the spider's head and ending its terrifying life.
Covered in wounds and utterly exhausted, he sat down heavily on the ground.
Never before had he felt so grateful that Alaric had chosen a spider as the final boss, not a centipede.
Otherwise, he felt he might have exhausted himself to death from using too much magic.
At that moment, not far from him, a corner echoed with a girl's light laughter.
"Hahaha—this guy is so pitiful, hahaha—"
It was Hermione's laughter.
Seeing this once overconfident and terrifying Dark Wizard, who had made her extremely nervous in the past, reduced to handling a magic-modified creature by Alaric like this, she couldn't help but burst into laughter.
It was like seeing two completely different people.
Meanwhile, Fleur was staring at Alaric in horror.
"Are you a devil!? This boss you designed, you never intended for us to pass, did you?
You want the Triwizard Tournament to become a joke, don't you?"
"How could that be?" Alaric explained innocently.
"In fact, this level isn't that difficult.
Even Harry, with proper maneuvering, could have smoothly overcome this challenge."
"Fine! Then explain to me how we deal with this thing!"
Fleur glared angrily at Alaric, feeling that this sinister fellow was just trying to mess with them.
"Just grind for equipment!" Alaric said matter-of-factly.
"After defeating each monster, they drop equipment.
There are supplies, things to enhance your combat capabilities, like shoes that increase running speed, knee pads that enhance jumping ability, wrist guards that boost defense, capes that allow double jumping...
There are also potions to remove paralysis, dissolve silk threads, and even potions to repel spiders.
Just keep grinding, and you'll find a way to clear the level."
