With no way out of this, Thomas could only slowly advance towards the voice, or at least the general direction the voice came from. However, despite that, Thomas still felt that something was wrong with that voice. It had a strange tone and accent as if it was not used to speaking Parseltongue. It also sounded familiar, but Thomas could not place it.
Out of nowhere, the voice came again, this time in the form of a broken whisper.
"Thomas... Thomas... Come here, my love... Come to the Chamber of Secrets... Trust me..."
Just as the whisper disappeared, Thomas felt a strange pull towards the voice, as if it was casting a spell on him. He didn't know why, but he felt compelled to follow it and because of that, he didn't notice that he was moving away from the dungeons and towards the stairs that led to the second floor.
But Bahamut did. The dragon sensed that his host was being led into a trap, even though his senses were restricted by the barrier. If this continues, Thomas would be "dragged" right into the wolf's den and that would mean the end of the boy's life.
So, because of that, Bahamut decided to act, despite being more than sure that the old man protecting the castle will feel his aura. Without wasting any more time, Bahamut channeled some of its draconic power through Thomas's body, until it will break whatever mind-control spell his host was put in. The moment he channeled his power, through Thomas, it sent a jolt of pain and heat to Thomas's chest.
A second later, the boy gasped and clutched his chest feeling the rather familiar energy, followed by a flash of light that made him blink and looked around. Thankfully it didn't take him long to realize that he was on the second floor, near the entrance to the girls' bathroom.
As soon as he broke free from the mind-control spell, the voice was heard once again, this time though, it sounded angrier.]
"Thomas... Thomas... What are you doing? Why did you stop? Come here, my love... Come to the Chamber of Secrets... You will get anything...Anything you desire…"
Once again, Thomas felt himself falling into a deep and dark place, which forced Bahamut to decide that it was worth the risk, no matter if that would backfire on his host. So, before it will be too late, he gathered as little as he could of his power and unleashed it in a wave of force towards the voice.
When the wave hit the bathroom, the voice screamed in pain unable to do anything against the force that hit it. Thankfully that broke the barrier surprising both Bahamut and Thomas. No matter how little power he used, Bahamut wondered what was the castle made of to withstand even a little of his power and not be taken down, yet that didn't matter as not even a few seconds later, footsteps were heard coming their way.
When Thomas turned his head towards the noise, he saw the headmaster and two other teachers, Professor Snape and Professor Flitwick rushing towards him. Dumbledore and Flitwick look worried while Snape for some bizarre reason seemed to be excited to the point that Thomas felt more scared of the potion master than of whatever was in the girl's bathroom. Dumbledore kneeled beside the boy and checked him for any injuries and saw that Thomas was pale and shaken, but otherwise unharmed making him smile reassuringly at the boy.
"Thomas, are you alright? What happened here?" The headmaster spoke in a gentle voice.
Hearing that question, Thomas looked at Dumbledore not knowing what to tell him. He trusted the headmaster to some degree, but he was afraid of what he might do once he realize that he was a wizard that possessed sacred gear. So not wanting to lie about everything since that would be a pain in the ass to deal with in the long run, Thomas decided to tell him almost everything, but keep Bahamut hidden. It was better to keep Bahamut hidden for a while, especially when he managed to break the defensive barrier around the school which will be a problem for the headmaster and Thomas feared how Dumbledore would react, or what consequences it would have.
Thomas took a deep breath and began to tell Dumbledore what had happened. He started by telling the old man that he wanted to go eat something in the kitchen when he heard a voice talking in the language of snakes. Followed by how he then doesn't remember anything else other than that he ended up in front of the girls' bathroom, from where the voice seems to come from.
"Did the voice tell you anything else, Mr. Grayson?" Professor Flitwick asked while looking into the bathroom, fearing that something evil might come out.
"Well, professor, it only told me to come to the Chamber of Secrets and to trust it."
Dumbledore nodded before stroking his beard. "Tell me Thomas, do you know what the Chamber of Secrets is?"
Not many people know about it and Thomas wasn't an exception, making the boy shake his head. "I have no idea Headmaster, other than what everyone knows from that incident."
"The Chamber of Secrets was a hidden chamber in the castle, built by one of the founders of Hogwarts, Salazar Slytherin, who was a powerful wizard. Sadly, he was also one who valued blood purity and despised Muggle-born wizards, unlike the other founders. Salazar then left the school after a disagreement with the other founders, but not before creating the chamber and hiding a terrible monster inside or so the texts say. And if that wasn't bad enough, it is said that Slytherin sealed the chamber so that only his true heir could open it and unleash the monster to purge the school of all who were unworthy to study magic."
Before Thomas could properly realize just how close he was to dying, Snape walked beside him and pulled him to his feet. "Grayson, go back to your room, and for the sake of everyone's sanity, don't talk about what happened to you tonight. We can't afford a mass hysteria or worse."
Thankfully Snape came to the rescue and after Thomas thanked them for their help, he made his way towards the Ravenclaw's common room. Mostly because he was still shaken by what had happened, not that he was hungry any longer. Thought that did make him think about some things. The Chamber of Secrets can only be opened by the heir of Slytherin who in theory should be a pure-blood wizard, while he was a muggle-born one. Yet, that devil, or at least something that mimicked its voice told him to come to her.
Thinking about this, Thomas didn't realize that he was almost there when out of nowhere stumbled upon Harry, Ron, and Hermione, who were walking in the opposite direction. The three of them were surprised to see him, especially at this late hour when usually, Thomas would either be in his house common room or his room.
Being even more worried for him after he talk with Daphne and Tracey, Hermione was the first one to notice that Thomas looks like he just came from a fight, making her worry that something must have happened to her friend.
"Thomas! What are you doing here? Are you alright?"
Thomas tried to smile, but it came out as a grimace.
"Hi to you three too. I'm fine, I guess. Just had a bit of a scare, that's all," Thomas chose to lie slightly, noticing the worried look on Hermione's face.
Hermione looked skeptical, mostly because she knew Thomas better than most of their friends, and she could see that he was far from being fine. It wasn't as bad as when he was sent to heal, but it was definitely not your normal after-practice looks either. Before Thomas could say anything or do anything, Hermione took his hands in hers and looked at him with a pleading expression. She could tell that he was hiding something from her, something that was hurting him and she hated to see him like this.
"Thomas, please," she said in an almost begging tone. "Don't lie to me. You're not fine. I can see it in your eyes. You're scared and hurt and angry. Something happened to you, something bad. Please, tell me the truth."
Thomas let out a sigh and decided to tell them what he had told the headmaster and the two professors.
Once the three of them heard his story, Hermione got closer to him to the point that they were so close their shoulders were touching. Meanwhile, Harry and Ron couldn't believe what they just heard, especially Harry who thought he was someone special after all being able to talk Parseltongue was not something anyone could learn easily or at all in most cases.
"That's freaky. We were talking about how Malfoy might be the heir of the Slytherin, but now… beat me if I know."
Draco being the heir did sound like a plausible thing, especially since he was the best example of a blood supremacist.
"Why Draco?"
"We heard him saying You'll be next, Mudbloods!', come on, you've only got to look at his foul rat face to know it's him. Tell me one single Slytherin that would be worse than Draco, Thomas."
"Malfoy, the Heir of Slytherin? C'mon Ron while he does fit the criteria, do you even believe that scared cat could be the one?"
"Look at his family," said Harry coming to his friend's aid. "The whole lot of them have been in Slytherin; he's always boasting about it. They could easily be Slytherin's descendants. His father's definitely evil enough, you should know better than anyone that."
"They could've had the key to the Chamber of Secrets for centuries!" Ron continued. "Handing it down, father to son like some sort of sick tradition."
That did make some sense, thought Thomas as he nodded in response.
"But how do we prove it?" Thomas asked Harry.
"There might be a way," said Hermione slowly, dropping her voice still further with a quick glance across the corridor. "Of course, it would be difficult. And dangerous, very dangerous. We'd be breaking about fifty school rules, I expect …"
"If, in a month or so, you feel like explaining, you will let us know, won't you?" said Ron irritably.
"C'mon Ron, don't be like that."
Ron just shrugged his shoulder in response, making Hermione pout before she explains her plan, this time though, more coldly.
"All right mister knows it all. What we'd need to do is to get inside the Slytherin common room and ask Malfoy a few questions without him realizing it's us."
"But that's impossible," Harry said as Ron laughed.
"No, it's not," said Hermione. "All we'd need would be some Polyjuice Potion or well have Thomas here sneak us inside, but that won't work since we still need to ask Malfoy those questions."
"What's that?" said Ron and Harry together.
Just as Hermione was about to go on about the potion Thomas open his mouth.
"Polyjuice Potion is a potion that lets you change your appearance to look like someone else for a while," he said. "You need to add a bit of the person you want to turn into, like their hair or their nail, to the potion. Then you drink it and you become them. But it's very hard to make, and it takes a long time. And it only works on humans, not animals or part-humans."
Thomas then looked at Hermione and gave her a smile.
"That's the short version, anyway. Hermione can tell you more if you want."
