HERMIONE GRANGER

Hermione was a smart little girl, but she did not have any friends, a fact that made her very sad but she was mature above her years and always kept a happy face when infront of her parents as she did not want to worry them. What she did not know was that it was not hidden from her parents and that they were also maintaining a facade to help keep her confidence. When a young kid showed up in front of their house wanting to be friends with their daughter they were shocked to say the least and wished that what was happening was true and not a figment of their imagination.

They were very welcoming to him and Mrs. Granger started a friendly chat, while offering him a chocolate milkshake, to know where he was from, his parents etc., to which harry replied that he resided with his relatives as his parents were dead since he was a year old. They were sad to hear and tried to console him but when they saw that child was just like their daughter in that he did not wish for others to comfort him they just made some friendly talk until their daughter came.

Hermione had a usual day at school where she tried to study as hard as possible, and everyone else kept their distance, despite her trying to help them in correcting their mistakes during the class, a fact that she never understood as to why does everyone dislike her when all she was trying to do was help them be better in their studies. As the school finished she hopped on the bus, caught the first seat and opened a book to read.

As she opened the door to her house she was confused to see her parents sitting on the sofa with a small, frail child. After noticing her they got up and her parents introduced harry and that he wished to be friends with her. She gave a look at harry trying to remember if she had seen him before, upon not recalling she spoke to her parents and they told her that he had come to know about her from a cousin that goes in her school and was intrigued.

Sensing something she gave a nod to her parents and asked for permission to go to her room along with harry to get to know each other better. After reaching her room the first thing that she did was close the door and look wearily at harry and asked him in all seriousness as to what was he planning as she clearly did not know him nor anyone in her class was so friendly with her as to discuss her with their family.

Harry gave a slight smile and told her to sit, she sat and motioned at harry to continue. Harry began with telling her that she's a witch, if told to a normal child they would deny or freak out without bothering to listen but she kept shut, seeing this harry continued and told her about the magical community, hogwarts, dumbledore, the purebloods, the discrimination and fantasy creatures that were very much real.

Hermione listened carefully and after he finished talking she had countless questions that she unabashedly asked him. Knowing her personality harry remained patient and answered her with all seriousness. After about ten odd questions Harry made her stop and told her about the statue of secrecy and that she could not let her parents know till the letter to Hogwarts arrives on her eleventh birthday.

Seeing Harry being so patient with her, a doubt crept in her mind as to why this unknown boy wants with her, to go to such lengths, she had many thoughts some positive some negative. Not one to keep her questions hidden she asked him about his motives and whether he needed something in exchange for the information.

Harry explained to her that though he had not been to the magical community he did have magical parents and he still remembered the memories of his one year stay with them, these memories surfaced recently along with a power to sense someone else's magic, which was how he was able to find her.

He explained that though it looked liked a civilised society with equal rules for all, he clearly remembers the conversations of his parents as to why his mother was treated well only because she was very extraordinary . A normal muggle born witch or wizard would not have easy paths in the society after graduating out of hogwarts. The magical community was filled with laws favouring those of better social standings and pureblood families and the muggle born wizards were only being exploited by not having a clear understanding of these laws in regards to their positions, promotions and salaries as laws were not in the basic curriculum of teaching.

Upon finding that there was a similar person in his close neighbourhood who was a muggle he felt it right to provide them with a chance to be better prepared before entering the magical world. Hearing his answer Hermione felt both good and bad, bad because he is doing this out of goodwill and not because he wanted to be friends with her.

Upon seeing a somewhat sad expression on her face Harry somewhat understood and cleared that though he did out of goodwill he also would like to have a friend as he did not have any. Unlike her parents Harry clearly explained his living situation as well early life to hermione. Seeing that he was being so truthful she was very happy as she knew that today she had made a true friend.

Harry also told her that he would like for her to understand as much of the laws as possible as he did not wish to be unguarded in an unknown society. He promised to bring her the necessary books and to also get her the books for the first year at hogwarts. Hermione was very excited to have a whole new set of knowledge to learn.

They spoke for another hour and then headed down. Seeing their daughter so happy and interacting with a kid her own age they were at ease for finally having gotten rid of their worry. They wished Harry goodbye and that he should visit more often. Harry returned to the dudleys house, cleaned up after his relatives had a light dinner of the leftovers and went to sleep satisfactorily.
