Para Dox

"Damn, it's barely been a week since I gained my ability and I am already wondering how I lived without it," Lex muttered

"Yup, I felt the same after unlocking and getting used to my ability." Rio agreed.

A week had passed since Lex unlocked his ability.

Together with Rio, he practiced the basics of his ability twice a day. During each of his practice sessions, Rio made him do various kinds of stuff until his head started aching.

After the sessions, the duo either played games or watched anime.

Lex definitely liked his new life more than the previous one. Spending time with Rio was slowly healing all the damage caused to him by his seclusion.

[ Hehe, you should also mention that you are liking her more and more. ] Elfie chuckled.

'I mean, it's hard not to like someone like her! We share the same hobbies and interests. She is also the prettiest woman I have seen till now.'

Lex admitted that within the past week, he was attracted to Rio. The latter definitely noticed this because she teased him from time to time.

Rio was a teasing master and she took every opportunity she got to tease Lex. She teased him when they were eating, playing, or training.

Though if Lex was being honest, he liked this quality of Rio.

[ You like everything about her including those double D she carries around. ]

'Enough, Elfie. You can't tease me like her.'

[ Tch! ]

"I think this should be enough for now," Rio said before dropping a pillow on the ground.

"Huh? But I can still use my ability."

Lex felt confused since his training was ending earlier than expected.

"I have another task for you," Rio replied while scrolling through her phone. "Some of the dumbbells I ordered for you have arrived. Can you take the packages while I put these pillows back in place?"

"Definitely!" Lex was excited to hear that he was now going to train with dumbbells. Carrying them inside was not a big job for him.

"All right. Let's go then."

Without any warning, Rio picked up Lex and dropped him at the mansion's gates. She vanished from her spot, leaving Lex alone.

'I want supersonic speed as well…'

Lex looked around the gates and saw a delivery boy standing closer to the mansion situated opposite Rio's mansion.

The delivery box wore a shirt with 'Zamazon' written on the front. He was sitting on a rather normal-looking motorbike. A plain brown backpack wrapped around his shoulders.

Lex walked over to the other side and confronted the delivery boy.

"Are you here to collect the order for Miss Oreo?" the delivery guy asked.

'Oreo? She couldn't come up with a better fake name?' Lex stifled a smile and nodded.

The delivery guy removed the bag from his shoulders. Lex's eyes widened when he saw the delivery guy pulling out a huge cardboard box from inside the box.

The cardboard box was thrice the size of the bag yet it came out from the bag.

'I can't even tell whether he is doing that with the help of technology or whether that is his ability.' Lex observed.

The delivery boy handed over the box to Lex and drove away.

'Oh, these are lightweight.'

Lex didn't feel that he was holding dumbbells in his hands. But since he trusted Rio, he decided to head back to the mansion.

[ Lex, I think you are going to have your first main character movement right now. ]

'Huh? Why?'

[ Look ahead. ]

Lex lowered the box a bit to see clearly. Much to his surprise, two bald twins were standing near the mansion's gates.

Both of them had a monk-like aura around them. They seemed to be observing Lex calmly from a distance. 

"So he is the one responsible for Redrum's death?" One of them asked the other.

"Yes, Para, he is responsible for it though the one who dealt the killing blow was Miss Rio."

"We always knew that Miss Rio was a dangerous woman. If only the boss didn't get so lustful after her." The man called Para sighed. "Anyways, let's kill this guy and go eat some noodles. What do you about that, Dox?"

'Para and Dox? Why do I feel like I have heard these names before?' Lex frowned after hearing the names of the twins.

He was sure that he heard the same names before while playing a card based game. He couldn't exactly remember the name of the game.

[ Are you not bothered by the fact that they are here to kill you? ] Elfie asked in an amused tone.

'Nah, I am just chilling here. In fact, I should probably get used to this.' Lex shrugged before looking at the twins.

"Listen, guys. Can you just let me take my package in peace?" Lex asked politely. "I don't want to fight when I have stuff in my hands."

"Para, he is trying to stall us."

"I know, Dox. He think Miss Rio will come save him. What a fool he is to think that our brilliant Miss Rio would save someone like him."

"Should we show him our power, Para?"

"Let's do it, Dox."

Somehow, the twins were in perfect sync with each other and spoke as soon as the other twin ended his sentence. One could even say that they were able to read each other's thoughts.

Lex, however, cringed at the sentences they were using. Unfortunately, the cringe had just began.

"Be prepared to see our powers,"

"Be prepared to be blown by a shower."

"Let death bring you peace,"

"Let your meaningless existence cease

"Together you face,"

"The brothers…'

"Para!"

'Dox!"

Suddenly, the ground below Lex's feet burst open and a crater appeared below him. Lex didn't even have the time to curse the twins rhyming dialogue as he started falling down.

"Let's seal the crater and be done with it." Para yawned and stretched his arms.

The land started to repair itself and the hole started to close. However, before it could be completely sealed, Lex came flying out of it. The cardboard box was present in his hands.

"What the fudge?" Para cursed.

"Didn't the boss tell us that he was powerless? How is he able to fly like that?" Dox asked in confusion.

"I am not flying. I just pushed myself against the ground by using my ability. Doing that allowed me to shoot out of the crater." Lex corrected them while flying in the air.

Lex imagined two force waves emitting from the bottom of his feet. His speed started to decrease as he safely landed on solid ground.

Due to continuously using his powers for the past week, no headache infested Lex.

"Whatever, you still can't beat the two of us." Para stretched his arms. "Let's show him our true power."

Dox didn't say anything and simply clapped his hands. Two pink circles appeared an inch away from Dox's palms.

The circles were the same size as Dox's hands and had some weird runes etched on them.

Dox stretched his right arm towards the sky and left hand towards the ground. He started turning them clockwise as pink sparks of energy flickered around Dox's hands.

'I don't think I am ready for a boss fight right now but it doesn't look like I have any other option.' Lex put the cardboard box on the ground before glaring at Dox.

"Bring it on."
